  1. I need ideas, as I basically have a week left to spend $78.59 and no idea what is worth picking up. Spending limit. After this CLink auction, as I am the winning bidder on a few things I want to keep the eBay purchase for $400 or lower or right around there. Interests GA Batman, Superman, Marvel EC Pre Code Sci-Fi or Horror Prefer graded as I would rather have a bit more confidence is knowing what I am getting. My usual other areas of likes, Legos, GI Joes, Star Wars... upgrading Spider-man 1-100 books... I seem to have those on lock... I know that this is a big ask but I am kind of stuck with ideas here... Have any of your own to offer leave me a message here or shoot me a PM... Thanks in advance...
  2. First buy an obscure modern Then go to the modern section of the boards and hype the book Argue with everyone as to why you are right Post a for sale thread on the selling part of the boards for the exact book you are hyping Profit. That seems to be how it is done these days.
  3. Do any of you use Facebook payments? How has that been working out for anyone that does ?
  4. The Barge is coming... Final production images and it starts shipping in a couple of weeks. I still have no idea where I am putting it. http://rebelscum.com/story/front/Hasbro_Official_Promo_Photograpy_Of_The_Vintage_Collection_Jabbas_Sail_Barge_182949.asp
  5. Been meaning to get in touch with you. I sold a pair of 9.9's of a certain book in late 2017 for $1000 over eBay. I still saved the record of the sale from the email and I am sure I have documentation of it in my PayPal account. The 9.8's of this book usually command $45-60. Does CGC ever report data like this and however the data is pulled, how does it identify that the $1000 was paid for two of the books and not just one?
  6. Take a look at what the Hulk 181 in 9.8 is up to. As of this writing it is up to $59,000 for the Mile High II Copy. http://comiclink.com/auctions/item.asp?back=%2FAUCTIONS%2FDEFAULT.ASP%3FFocused%3D1%26pg%3D1%26x%3D0%26y%3D0%23Item_1297653&id=1297653&itemType=0 Previous sale for a 9.8 was in December for $29,000.
  7. When I do anything for a friend I put my money where my mouth is. I have done it twice. There are two 'boardies' here who are my real life friends. In both cases they joined to buy something on the boards. I backed both of the sales. In once case it was for a signature series opportunity and in the other a Hulk 181. If either friend flaked, I would have covered them and made the seller whole. My word is my bond and I do not back anyone that I will not stand up for. So here is what I would do as both sets of advice are right. If you want to back your friend then you should stand by his reputation as your own reputation is on the line. I would offer the tickets now only with the understand that you are doing so to accommodate a prospective buyer's ability to secure transportation and hotel accommodations. Now here is the big part. YOU are on the hook for these tickets once they sell. Since you are acting in a way as 'Stubhub' or any other online ticket agency reseller, you need to back this sale. If your friend flakes and sells to someone else or decides to go himself, you are responsible for securing tickets and making the buyer whole. That means it may cost you more money in tracking down tickets, and making the buyer whole, but your own reputation is on the line because you are the one bringing you friend to the boards and standing by him. If you stand by him, you stand by the sale. That is the way I see it. This is why I don't do things like this often but when I do it, I back or help out people who I trust not to flake and misrepresent my own reputation however good or bad that may be.
  8. Let's just say that I was very happy to be proven right when I said that Mile Morales might be the best thing to ever happen to Spider-man.
  9. First comic wins of 2019... picked up for under GPA at $250 each... even with the tax... it made it worth it to upgrade... My ASM 64 goes from a 9.0 White Page Copy to a 9.4 White Page Copy... My ASM 74 goes from a 8.0 White Page Copy to a 9.4 Off White to White Page Copy (This has been a tough book for me for some reason) One question though is that the 74 is being sent back to Florida for a reholder... wonder how that will work with shipping. I will call them later this week.
  10. We usually make these every year... I didn't see one so I figured... what the heck... As soon as I logged in I was greeted with the following image. It looks like ComicLink is effectively in the same taxation zone as Comic Connect... Game on... So.... what did ya win? Good luck to you all...
  11. Revealed at London Toy Fair Do you think they create an empty box chase variant to represent the no show / cancelled concerts? https://toywiz.com/funko-pop-rocks-morrissey-vinyl-figure/
  12. Sometimes... just sometimes... if you are nice... and PM the seller... they will tell you.
  13. Picked up a Hot Rod and left it in the packaging to toss in the cabinet... but that was it. I think the prices on these were a little steep to be honest.
  14. I think that is a bit of a broad sword. What you are referring to is the NYS fair use tax which as you have said has always been on the books. I don't think people consider themselves as cheating it since cheating involves some activity. I think everyone in NYS from accountants to taxpayers simply just don't care about it. I cannot imagine everyone in NY from accounts to taxpayers going through what would essentially be a hassle in documenting and paying tax on every item that they bought outside of NY that they used within NY. For those that are unfamiliar with that law, if I went to say, Philly and bought myself a commemorative mug at the Constitution Center and brought that mug back to NYS to drink out of, I am supposed to pay tax in PA and tax in NY. Most cannot, will not, and honestly should not deal with that sort of nonsense.
  15. It has to be a combination of the two and it is 200 transactions and I think it was $19,800 or something like that. But it was 'and' not 'or'.
  16. Having been in a car accident back where my car spun out into the median without wearing a seatbelt. I can tell you this... it might have been from the snap back as there is elasticity to the web and a bit of a swing perhaps. When I was in that accident I went from the drivers seat to somehow sitting in the passenger seat despite driving a coup and crossing the center of the car. Your bigger concern should be how he webbed her ankles yet pulls her up with a web strand from the chest despite her shirt not coming off or skin ripping and there being a complete absence of webs on the ankles from the previous panel.
  17. Well looks like Comic Link is now on the same playing field as Comic Connect and Heritage. Booooo It's facebook tiiiiiiiiiime !
  18. Comic: GI Joe Page or Two Golden Age Book Upgrade a Spider-man Book Sell even more. Non-Comic I gave up fast food, McDonalds, Burger King, Chick-Fil-A, Taco Bell, Wendy's, All-American, Checkers, White Castle... all of that and more in 2010. I renewed that for a year. I do tend to eat sandwiches a few times a week so I went on a 30 Day purge of that. Gut the old bathroom and put in a new one. I want comic and toy sales to pay for it so I have $6100 currently put aside. I want $12000 around before I start seriously considering hiring the contractor to do it.
  19. I knew this was going to be interesting as soon as I noticed that this was pinned unlike the other lost comics. I will keep it in mind at the usual round of shows in the NY if anyone seems to be offering books around the shows.
  20. I did not know they were compelled to bring her back within that time frame. I always thought that bringing back Gwen Stacy as a clone was part of the plan. However, the next creative team under Len Wein or finishes off the BA clone saga felt that leaving her dead was probably better for the overall story. interesting though.
  21. There is nothing, and I mean nothing like changing out the O-Ring on a 1983 GI Joe figure only for the chest to crumble in my hands. Maybe I need to rethink buying GI Joes... Almost done btw... I have around 20 figures to go until I have the exact same figures and in the exact same quantity that I had from my original collection.
  22. I visited the store last Spring? I believe... I happened to find myself on that end of the island so I figured I would just give a look around. If I remember correctly, there was a decent selection of items in the store. The store was clean. It was VERY clean. That stood out to me. Prices were fair for a comic store. The only thing that struck me was that the place could have been more filled up at the time. The owner was talking with someone about a large GI Joe collection that he had come into a month before that. It would have been nice to see such a thing represented in the store. As someone that only buys ASM each month, and I already have my LCS for that, I wasn't doing much more than scouting the store. I probably would have picked up some type of plastic crack had there been something notable. Why didn't I say anything you may ask? I am not out on that end of Long Island often. As it is almost a year later, I still have not been out there since in a capacity where I could stop off again any time soon. It might sound snobbish but I don't make special trips for comic stores. Did day trips to Montauk, however I say this because Claws in West Sayville makes one of the best Lobster Rolls I've had in a very long time. It's right up there with Jordan's of Long Beach. Those are worth the trip.
  23. While I disagree in it being Mary Jane, I definitely agree that it should be considered only in the context of issues AF15-ASM121. You cannot consider, what comes 'next'.... If you do consider that then you can only consider what comes until the end of that particular creative team since they would have known where the direction was of the characters they were writing for. Therefore you can extend the story to issue 149. Side note... Conway finishes his run with issue 149 on a cliffhanger with the Spider-clone. Goodwin scripts issue 150 Len Wein scripts 151 from there... This begs the question... what happened?
