  1. As a valiant fan I am geeking out. I posted this in the art forum but... I took home the Solar 11 Page from last week off eBay. I really wanted this page as it had a few things going for it. My favorite valiant character has always been Eternal Warrior. Pre Unity Valiant Art Page comes from the second appearance of the Eternal Warrior which storyline in Solar that introduces the character. There were a few problems from in the listing and the seller had the notes wrong on this piece as well. I had recently inquired about another page from this issue and was quoted a price of about $2000 because Ditko had his hand on the page. The auction listed the piece as being done by penciller David Lapham and inker Gonzalo Mayo. However, the piece was really done by Steve Ditko doing the breakdown pencils, Ted Halsted on finishing pencils and Gonzalo Mayo doing the inks. It may not be a silver age Spiderman page, but Ditko worked on the page containing one of the earliest appearances of my favorite Valiant character. All of this for 1/5th the price I was quoted. Yes I am pleased as this was always a valiant grail piece for me.
  2. I would assume that Elektra will be returning to Marvel within a year or two since an Elektra movie was made 'X' amount of years after Daredevil. Without Daredevil, is Elektra even feasible as a cinematic character?
  3. No time for love Dr Jones Picked up at the Carbo show Debated between this or a Trimpe page but I liked the way Villamonte drew Indy better. Almost bought something else but there is something coming up on auction that has my eye. Now all I need is a Star Wars, GI Joe, and a Transformers page and my 80's childhood comic reading is complete. I also liked the story that this page tells.
  4. I don't think so... at least from me. The way I see it is that I recognize that Turtles 1 is a key book and a 9.6 is probably rarer than AF15 in the 4.0. However, while I recognize and appreciate what it is and what it means, it is not within my collecting focus. It doesn't mean I think it sucks. It means that while I like both, I like one a bit more than the other. Perhaps that it what others are trying to articulate.
  5. Very little. I will say this when I put it up for sale (TMNT #1 CGC 9.6) I had more PM's wanting the book than any other book I have ever sold on the boards. AF 15 was the only book I would have traded the book for instead of taking the cash. Congrats! Cannot wait to see a scan.
  6. If someone offered both to me... I would happily take the AF15 in 4.0. No Marvel chipping right?
  7. I had picked this up in the last CLink auction and suddenly I have the urge to find a couple of more lower or mid grade Atlas Cold War era books. Namor battling the commies? I think I found something here I like.
  8. I was watching this for awhile and after a few markdowns, I threw an offer out thinking the seller would counter. Woke up this morning and he accepted. On its way from Europe. Nova 2 Page 15. First flight of the new Nova by Ed McGuinness.
  9. Hard to get one without the case making the book look bad-- scuff marks you would never notice on a normal cover look awful on an all black cover. How are your 9.6's? Pretty good actually. I have been lucky with that. I know you are supposed to buy the book not the grade but I would like to have a set of 9.8's. I have noticed that the number have been increasing on the census and there are more available these days. Eventually I will snag one.
  10. Thanks guys. I would eventually like to finish my Valiant 9.8 first appearance set. On the list is still Harbinger 1 Solar 10 (Have 2 9.6's but no 9.8) Rai 0 And then some minor characters.
  11. Was annoyed today... Bit the bullet and picked this up through MCS over eBay. 1st Rai
  12. Always a pleasure to deal with Matteo. I picked up another book from him and always look when I see he is offering books. As always, Many thanks.
  13. If ever I am mentioned in this thread and a discussion is held about me, I would like to think that by now someone will PM me and give me a heads up.
  14. Being industrious and making some money at 12 is great. Doing it by lying, scamming and cheating? Not so much. Being that he is 12 also puts a huge chunk of the responsibility on the parents for well, being bad parents. Ban him. I don't know if people are going to seek restitution from him/his parents but he still needs to go bye bye. A relative of mine was caught gambling in school. He was almost thrown out of school. Turns out, that after working on Wall Street he has made a career out of gambling and does pretty well for himself as a professional gambler. He lives better than I do and I have what can be considered a 'normal' job.
  15. I'm really an incredibly smart guy from Brooklyn. CHALLENGE. Wel...Brooklyn by way of Massachusetts. You should start a thread about it. GO RED SOX!!! ¥eah... go... walk to the cape... head east... then keep going until you are in the water. Then keep going. You pick up any tickets for when they come to town? As far as the Yankees: Friend supposedly has my Opening Day ticket. I have my tickets for the second home game of the season. My dad wants to go to a game this season for the first time since 1998. I am thinking of picking out a Boston game for that. Is your Dad a Sox fan, or do you want him to be unhappy? We both believe that a strong Yankee team facing a strong Red Sox team for a regular season series is often better than most World Series. Yankees / Red Sox is good for baseball hands down. I am a Yankee fan but I have a healthy respect for Boston. It is probably why I don't get the kicked out me the couple of times I have traveled up to Fenway.

  17. This would explain why he preferred trades. He PM'ed me a few times regarding my books and for certain lego sets. Told him I will not under any circumstances do any trades. I felt that little voice in my head say, "Don't deal with this person." and would not conduct any business with him. The rest of you, I assume you are who you say you are. Pleasure to 'formerly' meet you Mr. Pitt. Please give my regards to Angelina and your kids.
  18. If you can blow Buzz Lightyear's mind you're in the hall of fame. He's probably giving me one of his AF 15's for that.
  19. I posted this in CG but I am really enjoying this piece. Pere Perez and Fred Van Lente were at Forbidden Planet today in Union Square. I had both covers of Archer and Armstrong 0 signed but then I went through Perez' portfolio and purchased this piece off of him from Detective Comics Annual 1 Page 22. I know that usually the desirability of art goes cover, splash and then panel interiors. However, I personally like interiors that tell stories and this piece definitely does that. No matter where you go the Batman will get you.
