  1. In some threads, we talk about whether or not a book should be signed. ASM 96 is one of the books that deserves to be signed due to the backstory. Great pickup. Congratulations.
  2. And one of the more under-appreciated and under-utilized characters that came out of the Silver Age. Nice pickup.
  3. It was a VERY good mail day! All my board purchases arrived today as well as an eBay purchase.
  4. Besides the Joker, Ras is the coolest Bat villain. It's about time Ras Al Ghul started to rise in value. I regret walking away from the CLink auction last year when the 9.4 went for $550. I have a 227 in 9.4 and would like a matching 232. Like you, I believe that Ras Al Gul is the best villain after the Joker. One day I will pick it up again.
  5. The mold used for Red Alert is one of the best I have ever seen. Although it is a complex transformatio, it creates a clean robot body that looks like the cartoon versions. I am thinking of picking up a Sideswipe before they are all gone even though I never owned one as a kid because I like that mold so much. They have not created any other dinobots, however there is a third party company that is coming up with their own version that is currently under production supposedly. That would be a sort of "what if" Takara/Hasbro actually made the rest of the Dinobots in Masterpiece format. The problem is that they would wind up costing three times as much as these for each of them.
  6. I don't have any pics and they are currently packed away. I have a lot of stuff and almost all of it divided between the bank, storage and relatives homes. One day I may be able to actually enjoy my collections. Prowl - compared to his G1 counterpart and some others...
  7. Most likely pre-ordering this in the next day or two... http://www.bigbadtoystore.com/bbts/product.aspx?product=TAK11727&mode=retail Masterpiece Transformers are like crack for adult collectors. I do not buy Transformers like if you were to go to Toys R Us... however these things are pretty complex and articulated larger figures made for adults. I have a few of them and usually have one on my desk at home. Right now everything is packed up though. For those that are interested I have an Optimus Prime, Hot Rod, Grimlock, Red Alert, Prowl and the Binaltech Skids. I look forward to Wheeljack though as I had him when I was younger.
  8. The thing with the DOFP 141 book though is that the cover is iconic. It is like GI Joe 21 where it is a book that other artists often pay homage to. I could easily see 141 maintaining part of the surge in value that it has enjoyed these last few months even after the hype has died down. BTW... I love these two...
  9. Singer is signed to write and produce but not yet set to direct from what I understand.
  10. Whoa... Ya learn something every day. Add Weird Science to that list. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Weird_Science_(film)
  11. G.I. Joe: Rise of Cobra G.I. Joe: Retaliation While you can say that they were based on a toy, the characters themselves are based on the character developments that Larry Hama developed through the comic book series. Hasbro told Marvel, we created some toys we want to market with a comic book. Snake Eyes and Storm Shadow's back story and relationship and all the ninja stuff along with other character developments were influenced by Larry Hama. In fact: GI Joe Rise of Cobra: Elements from GI Joe 26 and 27 GI Joe Retaliation: Reminded me a lot of issue 78 and every issue involving Snake Eyes and Storm Shadow after it is revealed that Zartan killed Storm Shadow's uncle.
  12. Any idea what might have pressed out/cleaned off the Hulk 181? No idea... The ASM2 and XMen1 looked too nice for the grade and were in old labels so it was worth a shot as all four books are for my personal collection anyway. The Action needed to be graded eventually. The Hulk 181 was just a fluke. It was in a PGX slab that I had picked up not knowing anything at the time, the difference between PGX and CGC. I picked that up a long time ago along with a PGX Hulk 180. After learning the difference I never cracked it figuring ignorance is bliss. I really didn't see what brought it down to a 6.5. So off to Florida it went. The Hulk 180 PGX 5.0 is of the same grading order so I am tempted to send that off to see what that gets, but that is for another day.
  13. Aaaaaaand they arrived.... These were the books that were pressed by Joey. Action Comics 76: Raw 3.5 to CGC 5.0 Cream to Off White Amazing Spider-man 2: Old Label 3.0 to CGC 5.0 Off White to White Hulk 181: PGX 6.5 to CGC 9.0 White (Still cannot believe that) X-Men 1: Old Label 4.5 to CGC 5.5 Off White to White
  14. You did that yourself or are you going to indulge us with some deets? No... its from Nova: Issue 10: Page 17. It was the package I was waiting for from France. Seller had it at a BIN price including shipping that I couldn't refuse. Wellinton Alves is the artist.
  15. Nova: Issue 10: Page 17 Part of the Annihilation Conquest storyline, Nova grabs Gamora to flee from a swarm of space ... swarm. The image was published with them 'upside down' so I took two pics of it so you don't have to turn your computer upside down to look at it.
  16. BTW ... picked up the NES USB Controller but cannot get it to work despite the fact that it says plug in and play on the box. Disappointed... wanted to play some punch out.
  17. 56 pages then... Thanks guys, appreciate it.
  18. I figured this would be the place to ask if any. Recently I picked up an All Winner's 11. This weekend I had some time so I figured I would take a trip back to 1943 and read the book. All of a sudden... boom... missing page. (I think) The second innermost wrap, (the one behind the centerfold) seems to be missing the left page. I took pictures to show you the cut out. There was no indication in the listing that there were any missing pages. I like for all of my books to be complete, no matter if it is a story page or an ad page. I have been told that during the war to save paper (issues shrank from 68 pages to 60 pages, then to 56 pages) some pages would have these visible 'tabs' that look like the remnants of a clipped page. So... is this a clipped page or part of the production which was normal for wartime GA Timely's?
  19. Incredible books. You just don't get those kind of books at an LCS anymore. Congrats. Chicago LCS ? What LCS other than Metropolis gets those types of books walking through their doors? That is incredible... congrats.
  20. I've never read a single issue. Now that we are years removed from the book does the title still hold up and is it worth reading?
