  1. I bought an Avengers # 57 from him, he graded it VF - it arrived and was VG+ at best. To be fair, he refunded including return shipping from the UK.
  2. Just wonderful stuff. True collectors are what it's really all about.
  3. Michael puts things so much better than I ever do - is that the benefit of the British university education Michael ?
  4. Actually, that's not the case. Anything published before 1971 in the UK would have been priced in our old currency, which would have been "d" or "1 /-" prices. We changed our currency to Pence "P" prices in 1971. Just to confuse matters.
  5. Mick Jones of the Clash bought some Hulks from me - it was in London though.
  6. Rarely has a truer sentence been written than this - many congratulations to you sir !
  7. He's Matt's chief employee for restorative work (CCS). He's done a few books of mine, and his work is arguably unparalleled in the field.
  8. Didn't Passaic Book Centre open up in 1966 in NJ ? Gary Dolgoff said he used to shop there for GA.
  9. Thanks for the kind words all - now got to get this scanner sorted out...
  10. I know ! I was surprised it got a blue - especially as I bought it cheap from Silver Acre !
  11. Yes...very good point...unless it's trimming overhang in a Ewert type way, it actually is the opposite of restoration.
  12. As an afficianado of the horror genre, how about Mystery Tales ? These books have been selling for many multiples of guide for some time now...
  13. I usually look for restored, it's all I can afford - my 37 came back blue though, I was pleased with that.
  14. Many thanks for the kind comments chaps - the # 28 I actually took in trade along with a # 34 & # 38 from a customer last year, all raw, and had Matt redo the #28 & # 38 (they had spine tape) - I'm rather pleased with them. The # 31 I bought rather impulsively from CC last year after seeing it at the London Con, after I kept getting outbid on a 4.0 MP copy they had in their auction, which ended up selling for over $15K, less than a $1K cheaper than this 7.5 - I put it up in the Want to trade forum last year to see if anyone wanted to trade me a lower grade copy, but I guess no-one wanted to part with a low grade one.
  15. I really appreciate your comments - funny how many of my high grade books have been submitted to CGC and come back with higher grades.
  16. Looking for a back cover (or a book with the same back cover if there is one) for an All-Star # 3 - some hope huh ?
