  1. Theoretically, they shouldn't, but in practice, I gave up even listing stamped copies on my site years ago, purely from a desirability viewpoint. I sell them on ebay and expect to get at least 25% less than unstamped cents copies - apart from the pence stamped Detective # 359 I recently sold in CGC 4,.5 for £400 that is.
  2. A relatively minor one, but I'm bored... buyer offers £7.50, I counter at £9.00, he counters at £9.50, I ignore it, it expires. He comes back after a while with £10.00...hoo hoo, 50p more than I said he could have it for ! Five minutes (no more) later... New message from: eddieswhitelegs (985) iam sorry didn't mean to buy the comic can you refund me please sorry
  3. Possibly the most bizarre feedback ever ?
  4. I get the emails most days - unfortunately it's often the day after I've just put in an order, and they won't combine orders for shipping.
  5. I got my first real leg up in this business from Eddie at Passaic a few years before it closed. He invited me over to pick through the boxes in the storeroom. I ended up shipping about 75 long boxes worth of stuff over to the UK for $1.25 a book 20 years ago. That place was fun, he offered me a job, but didn't want to live there.
  6. I see what you're saying, but, as I always point out to customers, what you're paying for is CGC's opinion, and, in their opinion, it is a 9.6. What I think is irrelevant...so irrelevant that I don't even bother thinking about it.
  7. The guy says he's going to speak to CGC directly about it...hmmm, best thing for him in my opinion.
  8. The pic was a closeup of the logo on the book.
  9. Well, here's a new one on me...what would any of you say in reply to this ? I have mixed feelings about Tomb of Dracula CGC 9.6. For a 9.6 which is NM+, the cover isn't very clean. There seems to be fading on the cover which would never pass as a 9.6. Please see attached picture. Thanks !
  10. It never ceases to amaze me when people say stuff like that...how much is shipping for this book ? Every time I look at a book on eBay, whatever country it's in, it ALWAYS shows the shipping cost and the currency conversion...it's right there in front of you.
  11. Absolutely unbelievable... Marvel Super-Heroes # 18 CGC 4.0 New offer £156.00 Message from akvic0 Hey, I've been looking for this comic for awhile it would be greatly appreciated if this price is acceptable New message from: akvic0 (0) Hello, the conversion rate was different to what i had searched up previously on google, so i was unaware that the price was higher than i could afford. I would like to retract my offer and this was an error solely on my part. Thanks.
  12. Another fantastic waste of time with this guy over ASM # 33 which gave me that 'scam# feeling right from the off, guy says he lives in Kuwait as well as the UK, but can't manage to pay with the correct address... New message from: raghe_uk (96) Hi there, Not sure if payment went through as i was trying to change the credit card i wanted to use on paypal and i really don't know what happened (or more exactly, what button i pressed). I'd be grateful if you can confirm if everything is in order and that we're good to go, i'd really appreciate that. New message to: raghe_uk Definitely no payment of £457 in our account I'm afraid. If you look in your "Purchase History', it should still be showing as unpaid. Thanks for your response. I tried doing that but it's telling me there is an error. Is there another way I can pay you? Perhaps through a direct link via PayPal? I would be grateful if you can help me finalize this as it's a Christmas gift for my son. New message to: raghe_uk Just sent you a Paypal request for the money. Thanks, Richard New message from: raghe_uk (96) Thank you. Link received and payment made.. Would you be so kind and mail the comic to: Ms. Jodie Evans 268 Pontefract Road Barnsley S72 8AQ Thanks! New message to: raghe_uk Hi Ragheb - Ebay and Paypal state quite clearly that as a seller, we are not allowed to post to any address that is not your registered paypal address. That is why you were not able to complete the payment initially. I need you to either register this address with paypal, and make the payment again, or pay the extra shipping cost to Kuwait. Regards, Richard New message from: raghe_uk (96) Thanks Richard for the clarification although I've never really faced this issue before... As I work between Kuwait and the UK, I have two addresses and obviously two different credit cards/bank accounts. Do you have a website that I can finalize this transaction on as by the time it reaches Kuwait, i'll already be back in the UK for Christmas/New Years. Thanks New message to: raghe_uk All you need to do is register your UK address with paypal, then you'll be able to make the payment through ebay. I have a US address registered with paypal, then I pick books up when I go over there. New message from: raghe_uk (96) Understood; let me do that now. Thanks for your assistance Richard and I'd be really grateful if you can hold on to the comic until this is finalized. Cheers, Ragheb New message from: raghe_uk (96) Updated made...but as I'm waiting for the refund to be credited back to my credit card (which i'm hoping is by tomorrow), I won't be able to do anything until then. Hope you can bare with me for 24/36 hrs. Thanks New message from: raghe_uk (97) good morning.. Is the comic still available for sale? Couldn't find it in my shopping cart and it's no longer listed on ebay. Would be appreciate if you can send me the link to finalize payment. Also, if this goes through today, when will we receive it? Reason i ask is the my wife travels on Saturday morning and no one will be around to sign for. If you would hold on to it, once paid, and mail it on the 20th of Dec, that would be great. Thanks YOU: I've sent an invoice for the book. Failing that, it will still show in your Ebay purchase history, so you can pay from there. If you pay today, we can ship for Friday delivery. New message from: raghe_uk (97) HI, I haven't received an invoice request and on my ebay purchase history, it's not giving me an option to pay you. Can you do what you did last time and send a payment request to paypal? Thanks New message from: raghe_uk (97) OK, payment made...please confirm receipt and that all's in order. Also, can you please send it to the address in Barnsley which i provided a few days ago. thanks Ragheb New message to: raghe_uk You've used the wrong address again ! I told you perfectly clearly that we are NOT ALLOWED to send to a non-paypal registered address. Now I have to refund you again until you can complete the payment with the Barnsley address, which is already showing on ebay. New message from: raghe_uk (97) You know what. Forget it. Just give me my money back. I really don't appreciate the tone of your email. I'm no longer interested in making a purchase. Thanks for your assistance New message to: raghe_uk How do you think I feel ? I know I got annoyed with him, but wouldn't anybody ?
  13. Never had a problem, I think everything I've submitted came back same grade.
  14. Blimey, I pay over £200 a year for such a service over here.
  15. And another.... New message from: black_wax (1,242) HEY BACK OFF , YOU LEFT ME HANGING IN THE BREEZE, I HAD TO DO SOMETHING, YOU LOST MY TRUST . YOU CASHED IN MY MONEY I SENT TO YOUR PAYPAL WHICH IF YOU WERE SUCH A GOOD BUSINEES MAN YOU WOULD HAVE LEFT IT THERE KNOWING I WOULD HAVE TO BE REFUNDED BECASUE YOU COULD NOT SEND IT TO A PO BOX . NOT MY FAULT YOU DECIDED TO TAKE IT OUT OF YOUR PAYPAL TO USE FOR OTHER PURPOSES WHILE I SIT HERE WAITING FOR IT AFTER BEING DENIED OF MY AUCTION WIN. YOU HAVE HAD ALOT MORE TRANSACTIONS THIS MONTH THAN I, THE MONEY SHOULD HAVE BEEN AVAILABE , NOT PENDING. GO AHEAD MAKE ME WAIT LONGER, I WILL FOLLOW UP WITH SOME GOOD FEEDBACK FOR YOU . HORRIBLE SERVICE . TERESA all of which was in response to : New message to: black_wax Hang on - I gave you very clear instructions to give us a street address. I told you very clearly you needed to check out with the street address, as we have to post to the address listed on the PO box. You said you'd check out with a street address. I clarified you'd need to check out with a street address. You then paid with a PO box. That is not my fault that you could not follow the instructions I gave you. I completely understand you have solid feedback, as do we. If I package this up, and call FedEx now for a collection, on Monday it will be returned and will be sat back on my desk as they will not deliver to a PO box. If I send this via Royal Mail and anything happens to it (which has occurred on a number of occassions hence why we use FedEx for more valuable items), the maximum compensation we'd be able to get is £250. You on the other hand would be refunded in full. We will use the postal service we feel is best. I'm not ignoring emails. This is my job, I work 8.30am till 4.30pm (GMT), I don't sit here 24/7 checking messages. And now I see you've opened a case through PayPal. I was actually trying to get you a refund quicker by waiting till the money clears back into our account (5-7 working days). But you aren't happy about that, that's not a problem. I've closed the case by refunding you through PayPal. Because you wouldn't wait, that is now pending until 18th August -7 working days, which is longer than if you'd waited.
  16. New message from: thom1982 (183) You can stick that offer up your arse along with the comic pal, don't come across giving me attitude when I'm the one trying to give you business, messaging you and getting no replies, and giving reasonable counter-offers - . You can keep the comic collecting dust in your store for another however many years. Good riddance. What a delightful chap !
  17. Yes you can, but they won't guarantee you'll get them back by the end of the show. Talk to them real nice, like I do in my proper accent, and if they have the time and enough materials left over by the last day, you may get them back. I had nine done at WW Chi last year.
  18. The Flash # 208 was definitely a one off. I've been around a long time since I started buying in 1966, and I've never seen any others.
  19. I've had one or two copies of the Flash # 208 before. A US collector pointed it out to me once, I hadn't even noticed. The pic comes from comics.org, they have a lot of pence copy images on there, check them out if you haven't already.
  20. How about this one from August 1971 ?
  21. What a shock, he now says he can't pay...I'm amazed.
  22. Already have this guy blocked, now he has new ID of jasomille-16, and he's BIN 'd an ASM Annual 1. His registered name is Harrison Resnick. I thought a block stayed blocked even with a new ID ?
  23. I know this thread was a while ago now, but having spoken with Matt the OP last week, I thought it might be interesting to 're-read' this. Has anyone seen any of these EGC slabs in the flesh yet ? I can't say that I've seen any offered for sale other than by Darryl himself anywhere. And on a greater point, I am informed that CGC' s main competition now has a 'drop-off' point in the UK. Surely it's about time CGC did something similar ? Postage costs are so high for us over here (and so risky - I've had one package used for a super bowl kick off, I believe), that this is a decent untapped part of the market being missed out on here by CGC.
