  1. New arrivals this week - adding them into my collection. I'm happy with what I got. Sorry about the camera pics ... my scanner wasn't working properly connected to my computer at the moment. Richie Rich # 8 VF+ This is the 1st Christmas theme cover in Richie Rich series. It is one of tougher issues to find in high grade. Working in getting low numbers to add to my RR collection Four Color # 386 - Uncle Scrooge in "Only A Poor Man", this is a nice VG copy and finally have it to my FC Disney Ducks (all by Carl Barks). While this one is a filler copy... it'll do until I find a upgrade copy to replace. Tales To Astonish # 40 - with thanks to a broadie in his thread in buying. This is a nice copy to have! And... I found some awesome 1970s Marvel pocket books from a LCS recently. I haven't seen them for years! I did had ASM vol # 1 to 3 of the same pocket series when I was a kid. These books here are in nice condition.
  2. I hope Hellboy 3 will be made - I liked the first 2 movies which I thought was decent well-plotted into film. If it ever come out - DVD sales will be good.
  3. Both first printings , one Book club first printing.... and one is apparently signed Congrats with the find! Are you gonna use them as a flip to prop up your comic book collection with a mega key?
  4. Sharon is great in packing the books that I brought from her. The package was well-packed to keep the books safety into my hands. They were all good and prefect for my summer reading days. Will be back for more of her future sales on the boards.
  5. And on this weekend, my newest arrivals to add in my collection: Richie Rich # 60 at 9.4/9.6 Prefect cover to start the season of summer now! Let the waves carry you over and cool youself. My new rack holder in front of Superman #141 book. You can see the DC logo is the same as on the rack holder. Now all I need is to look for a vintage comic book spinner rack with the DC top sign! These racks are VERY TOUGH to find!! Well, this rack holder offer me some hope ... Another book from the other day I got this: Nice high grade, and it's a 100 page giant! And... the grand finale for today: My Anniversary gift to myself - I brought this off from a boardie here. After 20 odd years hunting for this one in high grade has ended. Jughead Comics # 1 VF 8.0 CGC. I'm thrilled to have it, and a good pairing with my issue # 2.
  6. You have to say about these guys at the stores there - they must had knew you well to hold these books for you. Feels like they're giving you the chance in first picks with fresh books! I had that happened to me once in while. A few shops/dealers around me knew in what I'm looking for, and they had something for me.
  7. Great seller, has decent good stuff and fast shipping. the mystery box purchase is my first time with him. Thanks!
  8. My latest purchases to my collection: (half were from boardies, some from ebay) Gonna have some fun reading the Marvel Tales for the summer (thanks Sharon!). And the JLA # 5 with the ink stamp British price is the first one I got. I think is a nice touch, it started from U.S. to UK, then return back to U.S. and went to Canada. Wish this comic could talk what it had seen!
  9. Today I went to one yard sale where the house owner has his comic book collection for sale. I got to view his books, and I learned that they were HIS original owner collection when he was a kid in the 1960s! Unfortunately, they are all cartoon character theme in the entire lot. He want $500 for the whole lot, most of them are in mid-grades (4.0-6.0) with a few copies touching maybe 7.0. What are in there are: Walt Disney (Mickey Mouse, Donald Duck, WDCS, Uncle Scrooge), Hanna-Barbera stuff, Some few Archies, Harvey and Dells. I have the copy of the listings (4 pages). Might think - maybe. maybe not? But how often do I get to meet the original owner who kept the comics from when he was a kid? Not many! His collection covered a 8-year span from Sept 1964 to 1972, with 248 comics total. Sorry no photos - too many people in crowd in his garage.
  10. Wondering if anyone have done researching on history of these spinner racks? Like how many different brands, what era periods on each rack and such that? This should be made a good reading thread. I've seen one ad from eBay about the 1939 DC comic standalone rack with the crazy price. That got me wondering what other racks come after this one? Here - I see one 1950s Dell, another with CCA code logo. What else? I also see that there were some small counter table racks supposed from the 1950's but no pictures of the original models.
  11. Went to a couple places this morning - one yard sale and one antique collectibles show. I found a few good ones at the yard sale for $30 And then from the antique show: I got this ... This is a GA (1947) mid-grade book. I've seen these ones on eBay listed and they go for crazy prices. I think OSPG underrated it what I'm seeing. It's not often one would find this in nice condition. I paid $70 with some other books thrown in.
  12. And... one vender have one big key for sale - Hulk 181 copy! Go figure, right in a local flea market! For fun, I asked how much for this one? He said "$1200" ... yeah I should know. Who doesn't know how hot the #181 is? Anyway, I get to glance inside this book. Pages are OW as seen, has the Marvel Value stamp #54 still in there - uncut and intact. It appears to me as a VF minus by what I see. Sorry if my cellphone camera is crappy, it's the best thing I can do on the spot there. I got his number and card, if I have a chance to chase up the key someday.
  13. Today I went to a local flea market early this morning - after when I found an ad on CL saying that there are some old comic books selling in there. Since it was 45 mins drive, I figure "why not? Never know what I'll find while browse". See, on the CL ad - I saw 2 books with a 35 cent price tag variant in one picture. Had confirmed with my list to be positive variant ones. So... I went and this is what I found and brought. No 35 cents variants! It figures... someone must had used an old photo to put in the CL ad. But there were couple of venders who has some short/long boxes of derks, some SA/BA/CA comics and moderns. This is what I got for $20.
  14. Cool idea! I'd not mind find one with a date stamp - Oct 25, 1968. Can be on Marvel, DC, Disney or Archie book. Full date or just month/year. Would like find one with Fantastic Four or Archie cover (if possible). Thanks
  15. Oh yes... some of us here would give one of our balls just to have one of these cool vintage art boards! Read our posts .. we are all drooling nuts as in "balls crazy-ness" stance. I want one of these! Waiting for Pm reply... I can wait with patience. Take your time in sorting, don't rush
  16. Artboy - you're right. The 300 dpi is better, I tested with one of my slabs and it come out real good. Closer to the exact original.
  17. Yep, seems to be ... I'm liking my 8300 more, but man it's a beast to move it around. Suggest you make lot of room on your desk ... do you have a BIG desk? Mine was on top of the cabinet next to my desk - no room on desk for the beast! Well, I`ll be busy scanning a lot of comics all week ahead (thumbs u
  18. I think I got it figured out. I found out if I use "auto fix" on color - it seems to get the correct color and shade just like how the comic book look like in my hand. Here is the test #3 on "Richie Rich Mystery" #2. It does look good to me.
  19. Number 2 - scan test. Trying a comic book in raw without bag. How does that look? No modify in there.
  20. Ok, my new scanner is set up and plugged in. Run my first scan as-is without any modify. This is "Earth X" variant bagged. How does the scan look to you?
  21. Got my new scanner - HP 8300 today. Bloody hell, this is a monster! Didn't expect it to be this huge. Tomorrow gonna have find a USB cable to fit in and get it up running for some tests.
  22. A Marvel edition on fitness warm-ups? That's a theme not seen for a long time. But a cool unique find. (thumbs u
