  1. Friends and me are going see that today in the afternoon. We opt for the regular version as we decided not go for 3D or the 3 screen thing. Felt had enough but saving the option for better movies later (hoping for Doctor Strange ) Will see what I think of the new ST frick...
  2. well, they are out of the car at least. et voila WOW - nice haul! Thanks for the picts. Please keep us updated on any finds. Love it when boardies post pictures like this, it makes me want to go on the hunt :-) That is my biggest (almost learned) lesson...STFU! Don't say anything about yummy books, never ever. Stop trying to impress and show how much I know, stupid head.. I learned that I need to shop for life choices like that, I always tell the car or real estate guy that I WILL NOT be making a decision today no matter what. But buying comics brings out JoJo The Monkey Yes, never revel to someone at the yard/estate sales. Many people (Whoever) have too much loose lips. Had that happened on me few times. What about other people tried to come up to you while you were browsing books, and grabbed some good books out the box? Recently I went to a yard sale this morning. One guy tried to do that as I was standing in front of box. I grabbed some in my hand to stop him that. I consider that quite rude as far I think.
  3. As said in my previous post about yard sale finds. Here are the photos... Not bad for today in the wild around. Granted, it is not much compared to what you guys found in your area. Yours are way better than mine. But for what I paid, I can't complain at all. There will be another time, another day...
  4. Went to 3 yard sales this morning. First sale was good, second one a bust, and last one was not bad. I brought about 100 books approximately total. Mostly are kids comics, some mordern comics and graphic novels. My best find is a Whitham Uncle Scrooge #179. Will post photos as soon I get home.
  5. Was your sale featuring Greggy's severed head on your table? Maybe that is why you have trouble reeling potential customers in.
  6. Quite the bombshell art there! Nice sketch!
  7. Tell me what company made the hand cuz I wanna buy one to freak my sisters out on Halloween!
  8. Had to tell you something here. I'm surprised that none of you had said about the fact Stan Lee's wife was in this movie. I believe that is the first time I've seen her appeared in a movie with Stan Lee. I saw credits roll up and both their names did come up. I'm sure it's not a big deal to you, but a fun fact anyway...
  9. A friend and me went see this movie today afternoon. What I have seen ... I thought it was not a bad movie what reviews was saying off the newspapers I had read before. Critics can fly to the moon from their arse... I don't care. They are not comic book geeks! Apocalypse as the villain isn't what I expected from what I had read before. In the movie he as the character... seems bit flat to me? And on Archangel, is bit different but the feathers as blades shooting out of his wings was pretty cool. Love the great scene by Quicksliver in slo-motion... He stole the show for awhile there. Story wise what it goes through was ok, along the helicopter ride need some wings clipped down. Nightcrawler did quite good in there. Many scenes I see reminds me of the X - stories I read in the 80/90s. The Weapon X scene was great what I see. Action scenes were great. Overall, I give the X:A movie 7 out of 10. Maybe a B- grade. Have you seen the last preview after credits? It hints to the next Wolverine film. For me, I can't wait to see Dr. Strange movie this year!
  10. Watched this lemon flick on MC (part of my cable plan there). The special effects was ok, dialogue was terrible. Their actions were slewed. I've not seen Dr.Doom with the look like before. WTH? In short, I watched it while I was working with some of my books on table. To the point, the books on table were more entertained than watching it. If Fox do go for making another FF movie, people need to stop wasting their money to go see it. Money spent on tickets is like casting support toward it.
  11. Got a couple questions regarding about MARVELSEAL product. How do you apply this film on wood inside a drawer? Does it come with a sticky side that you can peel off and lay this side on wood? Just wondering... Thanks for a great read!
  12. I obviously need to start checking the local Craigslist more often. One does not simply check Craigslist. You have to be obsessed with checking, checking every hour to be the first to reply and be able to drop what you're doing, driving an hour to look at mostly garbage. Hoping for the diamond in the rough. Knowing there are 100 other guys doing the same thing. Spoke for truth and as part of the fact. I know because I have had that happened to me a few times. One time in past, I saw one ad with a batch of old comics for sale. Called and said I can come by first thing in morning but advised me there were a few guys. So I drove to the address by about 30-40 mins early... wrong! I missed out the sale because one guy was ahead of me in line ONE HOUR before me and scooped the whole lot. The seller told me this guy was real early at the door waiting by until seller woke up and had coffee the let him in to see the books. Now I check CL daily 3-6 times to stay on updates.
  13. That's a great book. Always loved that cover. Charles Schulz contributed to the interior artwork. That looks like the "Blank circle with no price on cover." There are three versions. Yours and the two below. Price version: No Price No Circle: Uh... crimebuster's copy is the same as the second scan you posted? And a correction with number of versions. There are 4. One is a Canadian version and the red circle with 10 cents price version (I think?).
  14. This is cool, but I believe is much later by date. I wanted one more earlier to match what I used to pick off comics back then. My day will come when I finally get one
  15. I'll take that bet, scrub. Bring it. Oh, Chip, he's hustling you. Really. You'll lose. Somebody knows what I did in my third career after I sold Moondog's... Man, you shouldn't have fessed up, Gary. Hustle him. I have no clue what you guys are talking about. Was Gary a professional Golden Tee player? WTF is Golden Tee anyways? greggy needs to know. golden tee = golf arcade game - played with a trackball. very addicting - there is a networked version of the game that people can play for money now (online tournaments) - and there were ( probably still are) - local tournaments held in bars Gary - (post his comic shop days) - worked as marketing director for the company that designed the game. I do not know him personally - but looking over some of the news releases, I would say that Moondog knows the game pretty well - and was more than a little responsible for the popularity of the game and the contests that resulted from it. Thanks Does Google not work in Canada? Does google say why Gary is so good. I knew about the game, dorkface Was the marketing manager for Golden Tee. As part of his position, was a veyr very very good tournament planer. Waiting for one of you boys to have the last word in face...
  16. Nice wasted many a quarter on Space Invaders and Galaga Same with me, had wasted a lot of quarters into these games, and to Pac-Man's mouth! I used to go to a local sub shop (they made good sandwiches!). Pre-Subway era! That was where they had the video games in there. Lots of kids flock for the subs and games, the school was over the street.
  17. Sent email to couple of ads on CL about comics listed, got a reply from one guy and went to his address to take a look at these books. Offered him a price and he accepted. All 33 comics in the deal. Turned out he found them like that in their condition in an estate sale somewhere. Obviously was someone's small collection tucked in a box or suitcase? He then pulled out ... More comics hidden in a cabinet! After had a look through, I knew they are also part of the same collection. Some in better conditions. I picked a few ones and offered him. I told him if he should come up with more. I would pay if in better conditions. He said he will bring in some DC sci-Fic and some other horror theme from '50s in next few days. Good, I have another lead!
  18. 450 comics isn't a motherlode but maybe a babyload. Here's the key: 1) Always be on the lookout. Always. You never know. 2) Let all of your relatives and friends know that you're always on the lookout. All of my cousins across the country know to call me if they see comics anywhere. 3) Don't be a person_who_is_obnoxiously_self-impressed to people. Douchiness tends to radiate to muggles. 4) Offer a fair price. 5) Have cash. 6) Buy it all. Don't offer to cherry pick. 7) Be very very very ready to bail. If the seller's asking price is ludicrous, smile nicely, say "thank you for your time" and pack up your stuff. You're only out your time, and you will be amazed how quickly that ludicrous price comes down. So far I had only hit two " babyload" scores, but I'm not giving up I make sure I bring enough cash in my pocket whenever I hunt at yard sales, Never know what you would find among the stuff. #6) True, IF the price is sound and fair ... I would take all the bad and good as whole. One time I had offered for a boxload to one seller at yard sale. He wanted full retail (guide) price, so I walked away with "thank you". Thus, the #7 rule. Good advice!
  19. +1 ... that is how I see that way. I will go see the movie to enjoy.
  20. Hector, here is the issue I have. This isn't just a cool comic book movie, this is the cornerstone piece for WB's Universe. No-one asked them to do this, they could have just made a sequel to MoS and the expectations would have been much lower. WB comes out and announces an aggressive 10 movie, 5 year plan. This is the lynchpin, there to set expectations. Compare it not to Marvel (who never announced a plan, but rather their way for handling their movies became the "Marvel Method: Movie Edition" but rather to Disney Star Wars. Disney comes out and says "We are making 6 Star Wars related films in the next 8 years, and JJ Abrams is directing the first one" How much pressure was there on TFA? A lot. It could have just been a good movie that made $1 billion and the fans would have liked it, BUT when you put that kind of pressure on a film a billion is a failure because the expectations were so much higher, and calls the rest of the plans into question. Zach Snyder is not just the director of BvS, but he is supposed to be the Kevin Feige of the DCU. If he can't pull off BvS, then what confidence should we have in the other (more difficult) films (Aquaman, I'm looking at you). Time Warner is investing Billions into DCU (assuming a minimum $100 million budget for each of the 10 films, plus marketing budgets) Time Warner is not Disney, they can't afford to lose money (TW has a market cap of 1/3rd of Disney, with a annual profit of only about 3 billion, Disney's annual profit is almost 10 times that (between 22 and 24 billion) You guys have made your points good. I do had seen some trailers, ads in newspaper and on the old Internet. All about this movie coming up. I don't mind all these trailers or ads ... I simply looked them and don't think on them. I want to forget that! All what matters is one thing: go see that movie and have fun. My friends and I had brought tickets in advance (2 weeks ago) for the AVX 3D treatment. That option is the first time for me to sit in the deluxe seat. Hoping for a great time as I watch... I'm super-stoked, bat-crazy with all the wonders what I will find out! So... Why don't you give , whatever or who will make more bucks or what, a rest? And be glad this movie has finally come. After all the Marvels we had seen in theatre, DC deserve its due now. We need the balance for our enjoyment!
  21. Agreed, they are nice. And my copies are bit beaten as well. But am keeping an eye for better ones. My favorite Archie cover is Archie #50
  22. That is a good "double cover" mystery. Where is it now? But from the most recent X-Men 94 double cover. Is it the same one like what you had won off eBay back then?
