  1. While it’s fair for you to ask for a return and refund on postage, I believe you have made a bigger question of this than it deserves. Cheta refunded you and the fact he asked if you had "buyer's remorse" might be arrogant or just a question asked, but not a reason to post there, unless one wants to nominate for the Probation List, which is not the case here.
  2. You’re absolutely right. I started collecting 1930s Disney comics when I was 15-16 and I avoided greedy dealers. I was already somewhat knowledgeable, however, or at least I always tried to document myself before buying.
  3. Precisely. No reason to keep a grudge towards that guy for me, as it seems the experience helped him to see he wasn’t behaving in such a great way. I entirely agree with Ben.
  4. Funny you should mention that scenario, it has come up before. "I owe you nothing." Class act. Wow! And it was towards Nick, which nonetheless, despite being a bit impulsive, has always been a very respectful person. The follow-up is a gem… ...Oh and I'm sorry when I told you to go pound sound last night, that was said in the heat of the moment, and I lost my head. ...What I meant to say was go FIST yourself...hope we are clear here sonny boy, cause I'm done discussing this with you , This is totally inappropriate. For someone that has been on the boards as long as you have, you should know bettter. Etanick just warned others that you single boxed his order and it got cracked. Double boxing does make a difference, believe it or not.
  5. I’m sure you know your stuff, I just meant DC and Marvel are not comparable in their conception. DC could have easily published the best single stories, as it was for various publishers during the Golden Age… I have never dared to venture much into DC territory just because it would exceed my means and storage space. So I can just say I love most of the Marvel BA titles dealing with the preternatural. (thumbs u
  6. You’re absolutely right – I stopped replying as he’s obviously determined to be up to no good. And when I tried to notify it said me the post had already been notified.
  7. You’re absolutely right Randall… I posted a humorous reply so he knows what happens.
  8. I don’t think Marvel and DC are comparable. One might prefer one or the other, but they always have been different conceptions.
  9. The yellow shirt (puffy?) was/is pretty unique, and the head ornament (is that that you’re referring to) is just perfect…
  10. It also looks very beautiful culturally/artistically speaking (even if the artwork is maybe not particularly "refined"). This one isn’t just the canadian edition of an american counter-part, right? EDIT: I recalled now that it’s an adaptation of "Is this tomorrow?" (thumbs u
  11. That’s what we (at least me and KirbyJack) kept repeating for some time…
  12. Wow, a CAHokie's thread in Gold! It doesn’t get better than that! I can’t be of much help with the request, but when Ed said "And then you get into the whole issue of Daffy Ducks 1st appearance. Duck Hunt sort of. Similar to Donald Ducks 1st." I couldn’t help but wondering: isn’t Donald Duck first apperance in comics in the newspaper strip adapting "The Wise Little Hen"?
  13. And I don’t know what a GF is but you definitely have a deranged idea of "modern", whatever you mean with the term.
  14. Overstreet? Listen, Hitler with his approach changed how Germany felt and thought, according to his feelings, but this did not make him a reasonable or balanced person. And a huge number of people luckily realized that already at the time within Germany as well. I have no problem in agreeing that a character appeared FIRST in an ad, an article or whatever, they just aren’t "first apperances" as long as comics stories go, simply because they are anticipations of the thing in itself.
  15. That's become clear. John Donne said 'no man is an island'. Clearly, he was wrong. He was replying to Mr. Ween. But I could say that in this case the "islands" are those who insist on this concept of "first apperance", and who wants to use words arbitrarily and out of context. Roy (Beastfeast) was just giving an uncalled for harsh reply, but what he means is clear. John Donne was surely right, but unfortunately we suffer the consequences of modern philosophical thought, which he couldn’t have imagined, so blame Hegel for this lack of communication. I didn't mean it to be necessarily harsh. "How I see it" is not exactly the best phrase to use in a debate...especially one like this. I know you probably weren’t – I was just trying to meet him halfway as we were slipping into "unreasonabliness"… "How I see it" could have been a good and working phrase in less self-centric times.
  16. Less than a day away, and I come back to 4-5 pages of pure drivel . . . Anything hesting up? You are absolutely right.

  18. I'm only "exasperating" to those who don't like to be disagreed with. Untrue some just believe less is more. He meant that he insists with those, not that he can’t be exasperating when he insists or is verbose in other instances… He is absolutely right here, and he's not even much verbose.
  19. Mr. Ween, aside from all this ongoing discussion, this is either an unintelligent remark or you have to explain what you mean by "dated". It’s not that because I start calling a thing differently than it is, that it changes reality. That’s also the illusion behind a good deal of false reasoning today. RMA may be occasionally "exasperating" in his argumentations, but he is absolutely right here. Precisely. (thumbs u
  20. The star is too large to be the usual star stamp of the military bases books, which is very recognizable. That is a pretty unique book, and I love it (also because I am missing a #4… ). It would be interesting to dig out the "National Diamonds" thread where we discussed of these things and post a question.
  21. If you have them, dig them out – it’s a milestone story, and not only for Italy. Probably the only story where the disturbing character of the Blot is respected and not "watered down". (thumbs u
  22. Honestly, but I don’t get this. A good portion of the Power Pack (original series) issues are some of the best material put out by Marvel in that period. Single issues are proper masterpieces – I have the impression that either people no longer understand the inner life of children or just have never read it. I think power pack would be a win for Disney Well, I haven’t liked at all what Disney has been doing with the feature-length movies in the last years, but they could do something good with a Power Pack movie if the screenplay is written by some good writer and the director would try to respect the book at its utmost. Certain issues would make a great choice for a movie story in themselves (the one with Franklin having the nightmare about the sentinel could also tie-in to a potential well done FF movie).
