  1. Maybe because our own LCSs are not in the US?
  2. But you don’t have this one… Where Betsy re-appears and we learn she joined the governmental organization S.T.R.I.K.E. and dyed her hair purple (well, actually it’s in black and white but she explains that to Brian).
  3. That is awesome, I did not recognize him. And I am a type/graphic designer, I know him for the "De divina proportione" treatise…
  4. Reddy Kilowatt… http://ecchecklist.50webs.com/Reddy_Kilowatt/Reddy_Kilowatt.html DG Thanks pal, that is sweet! (thumbs u I had to imagine how Reddy Kilowatt comics must have been when I was starting to collect comics in english. Never picked a comic, but loved the character from advertising, as much as every other brand character from the US.
  5. This is my favorite so far, and it actually sold! (not only a miswrap, but a miswrap/miswrap at an angle/spine roll combo):
  6. And I have almost four times your posts…
  7. eBay used to be great before all the policy changes due to privacy. (thumbs u

  9. Jack Kirby also loved to remember the tales of the old continent his grandmother and his aunts told him… and he accounted those for having developed such an imaginative storytelling background.
  10. That is awesome, I thought it was some Donald Duck-like character posing as Batman or so…
  11. and the avatar ? The White Queen is stupid hot! Fixed that for you! Seriously, she was stupid hot as a villain, but as a "teacher" she is just ridiculous. I recall the observations Magneto made in New Mutants #51 and still wonder about what Marvel has been doing for 20 years or so…
  12. Thanks Slym – but they all look pretty much the same! I think I might go with a Morbius if I find one that is nice…
  13. Must have been quite unique times. Honestly, I have not been able to appreciate Bukowski so much, but I am somewhat affectioned to William S. Burroughs.
  14. To continue on a similar reflection to those of werewolves I have been deadly scared of vampires as a kid, and actually stopped reading Spidey (after one issue) as there was Nightcrawler – and he definitely looked too much like a vampire. So I could choose nice Morbius face, maybe? But I also like the idea of an ever-changing avatar following a character or person, like Hado's or Peter in Portugal's, so I might just adopt a Michel Vaillant face? Problem is Graton is not definitely the greatest in drawing expressions: stories were great but the faces are all not-so-much expressive… Or maybe the rabbit mascot of the air-conditioning company? What do you advise?
  15. I would have never recalled that. Yes, the movie wishes to give the impression it is something deep when… it really isn’t – no matter how much "true story" is into it…
  16. I just wanted to have a board name which was comics-related but not related to north-american comic books and to super-hero comics, so I picked Vaillant from Michel Vaillant, which is a classic character of the french-belgian bande dessinée. The comic has a car racing setting, but the best stories (especially the earlier ones) are all around adventure stories, with lots of insight and deeper themes, and mystery elements as well. My avatar… I am still working on it as I am unsure if it should relate to the name (and the character) or not.
  17. I don’t think so, surely they met before. I think this might have more to do with the fact Claremont starts to explain their relationship here, and from what I recall there is more revealed about the origins of Wolverine (although all f-up later on by Marvel, especially after Weapon X).
  18. Power Pack is not "schlocky" by any means – like most titles it just had its ups and downs but there are stories and arcs which easily put to shame a good deal of the other titles at the time. If you already read them, I think you’d need to re-read them. If you can’t see what I mean by looking at Bogdanove’s rendition of children, I really don’t know how to explain it better. It requires attention to the facial expression and bodily features of children. Drawing children is even more difficult than drawing certain animals, which are renowned to be tough, like horses.
  19. Hey, I was kidding! I don’t know how to explain my point better. You have got to look at how artists draw children closely. Power Pack by Bogdanove is a great start! (thumbs u
  20. I like Byrne, and I did not say there is any serious "issue". I simply underlined that Byrne could not grasp the specific subtleties of small children, and tends to draw all of them like they were 8-9 years old. I don’t know how much you are familiar with Jon Bogdanove’s work on Power Pack, but I assure you he really can’t match him as far as children goes. You are right on Ordway, anyway. When Byrne was on the Champions, or when inked by more detailed inkers (like Sinnott) it was breathtaking. Greggy summarized everything quite good, anyway!
  21. Byrne drew Franklin about decently, but he lacked the subtleness which makes children’s expressions pretty unique. He pretty much drew franklin as a "small boy/small adult" rather than a kid. Here, for example: those are more the features of a boy about 9-10 years old, rather than a small child like Franklin was when Byrne drew him: Even for the body proportions: see how Jon Bogdanove is able to capture them (for children of different ages) on this Power Pack cover: I can’t find inside pages images of Bogdanove drawing Franklin, but if you are able to compare him to other artists you’ll see what I mean (he also came with a background in childrens' books illustrations, and that surely helped).
