  1. I may have done some editing there. Kirby DRAWS the best?
  2. Now analfabetism is plaguing even the alien races in the MU…
  3. Dang, Dan! Quintessential Sense of Wonder! Kurrgoooooooo!
  4. It is clear that they meant to use Groot, or they would have him named otherwise. The fact that Marvel comics are a mess today unfortunately has little to do with time lapses and "funny books"…
  5. I wondered myself. If you consider the pre-Marvels "not Marvel Age" (I don’t), then all monsters are "prototypes", even Fing Fang Foom. So Groot was intended to be him, so was Gamora, and Starhawk – and Rocket Raccoon for what matters… But now I am curious to read some material of this series.
  6. @Ewan: many thanks for taking the hassle of the pictures, that’s awesome! (thumbs u Now I vaguely remember the covers of a pair of those… The last one with the Wendigo and possibly… the one using the Avengers cover with Jarvis. Do your copies have the poster, and which issues are they? Awesome, anyway! Thank you!
  7. Lot of early italian Spideys now available in the PsychoJ (Jamie) family donation thread: http://boards.collectors-society.com/ubbthreads.php?ubb=showflat&Number=6792009#Post6792009
  8. They're both from the 1982 Marvel UK Marvel Super Heroes comic - not sure which numbers but from the Davis / Moore issues so no.377 to 397 I think just passing through... Many thanks but… I have none how those, and I am sure I pulled them from my books. I have just a few issues of the second Captain Britain series and two Captain Britain annual magazines (from 1979 and 1980). How’s that possible? Ah, and Bryan Talbot on Daredevil… that is very interesting. Now that you have told me I see Talbot in that!
  9. Glad to know there is some Kurrgo-love here… Awesome copy, Tom! Wow, it was just the same for me. A hot august early afternoon, my parents and grandparents taking a nap, I was at my granparents home in the country and for the very first time reading early FFs (in italian, of course). I just loved that panel, and the classic "sense of wonder" atmosphere (which was pretty much rarified in the 1970s).
  10. Sorry to bomb the thread down… but here’s my most recent acquisition, and I am awesomely happy with it (for now)… It has been the very first story which got me enthralled in Lee/Kirby early FF goodness… For many it can be Dr. Doom, the Watcher, whatever – for me it was… Kurrgo! (followed as a close second by the Puppet master).
  11. Me too but would have loved a whiter #1… Now is late… #1 with italian stamp!
  12. I think in those cases it’s always BOTH the books which represent the first appearances. Hulk #181 got so collected because Wolverine is on the cover, but since Jimmy #134 and Forever People #1 are both important (and no Darkseid on the cover), I consider them on the same level. Can’t see why a "key" should skyrocket. Better to have two half keys and less skyrocketing…
  13. We’ll eventually afford a Cap GA issue, Nick! Or maybe not… Winter Soldier:
  14. Where could I ask about those posters? Any UK forum of Marvelites you happen to know?
  15. Stop talking of "franchise" when speaking of the Marvel age…
  16. My italian FF #1 which I am submitting to scutiny in the PGM thread:
  17. Hi guys, sorry if posting this request here is inappropriate, but since this is "a little corner of the UK", I thought it fitted… I am sorting out my non-US Marvel stuff, and came across two mini-posters I recall I pulled out from a pair of UK magazines I own. They are these, one is an Alan Davis Hawkeye poster, and the other one a Daredevil (unidentified artist): All the UK mags I have in my collections are two Captain Britain annuals (1979 and 1980, I believe) and Captain Britain (second series) #1-5 and #13. Do you have any guess from which I pulled out those? I wished to put them back in the magazines… Also, is there a better section here to post similar questions (in general, not just UK-related)?
  18. Highlights from my upcoming donation to the Jamie Hughes' (PsychoJ) family charity thread (it will be an italian Spideys' lot). Stay Tuned! Start date will be communicated here: http://boards.collectors-society.com/ubbthreads.php?ubb=showflat&Number=6774340#Post6774340
  19. Xemnu is just like a big giant pet… Only it’s evil!
