  1. 17 issues later he reappeared to show off his swag once more At this point, I think the Daredevil's villain the Matador might have more charisma…
  2. Has that Warlock from X-Men #30 ever resurfaced? X-Men #116…
  3. Funny that the DD #1 is yellow, while the following are red (like in the italian edition).
  4. For sure, the majority of italian collectors don’t care about the original editions, and are after the italian ones. The biggest difference is that the key issues here aren’t the first appearance et al., but just the ones which appear to be scarcer. In general, the first and the last issues of each title/run. I am speaking mostly for the Marvels, various early Batman and Superman are scarcer in general, especially in grade.
  5. Well, I have read a good deal of the early silver age as a kid. One of the advantages of being italian: your formative Marvel readings are pretty much extensive…
  6. I just love this (a recent acquisition: the full #1-11 run) and have got to post it everywhere! Early Alan Davis goodness…
  7. The DD #1 in VF must be beautiful (and looks white!). Love the TTA Subby as well: that two-color cover is great!
  8. You may ask her to participate in the AF #15 purchase as a wedding present… You have a Spidey #1?
  9. Most of my collection (any age) is between F and VF in grade. I tend to pick NM copies only of books I particularly love or consider more meaningful for the story. The little GA I have is mostly low grade, with some getting close to F, but this is just because of the rarity and the prices. In general, whatever grade I buy, for me the book has to hold together: I would favor a low to mid grade book, if it presents well, over a high grade book with a significant flaw like a popped staple. I also don’t care if there are issues going on with the back cover, as long as it is an advertisement picture. I have a Fantastic Four which would be easily a stunning NM but has water damage on the back cover.
  10. I have the FF one in equally nice condition. Yes, they often have wear, I picked the FF because I don’t have that issue yet, and they choose to reprint a particularly apt story (as it retells the FF origin). Lovely Man-Wolf, ’though!
  11. Sell, but buy a reader copy to have it handy to read, heh?
  12. Ah, and about your question my vote is: just keep! (thumbs u
  13. In the mid-1970s I was too small to read, but in the late 1970s I was reading the italian Kamandi, whose backup feature was the 4th world Jimmy Olsen… Loved when I could find old issues (with return ink, or in back issue bags) and read little by little how Kamandi discovered his world or what the heck the DNAliens were…
  14. The #230 recreation is even better as I seem to recall it’s an original cover of his. Did he do the original inking on the J.R. Jr one? I have it but don’t recall… Anyway, not only Layton is awesome, but he also looks like a pretty rad dude! (thumbs u
  15. The 4th World is cool – what made you think they were "highway robbery"? Because dealers were augmenting the price? Seriously, if it wasn’t a book I care a lot about, I would sell it immediately (mine is a potential 9.0 as well) and purchase an early Fantastic Four.
  16. That’s awesome Mark. Is that a cover art he re-created?
  17. That’s a nice Captain Marvel #1… Welcome to the boards! (thumbs u
  18. BTW, title was this one, "Nel Regno di Topolino" ("In the Realm of Mickey Mouse"), started in 1934 or so and ended in 1940. This one, from my collection, is a "key issue" in terms of content:
  19. That was more or less what I used to tell my father when I started collecting italian 1930s-1960s (pricey) Disney comics when I was fourteen. I had to buy them when he did not see, problem was that I did not have a car to go to conventions, so I had to take my chances when they presented themselves… And also, I did not have a weekly allowance Luckily my grandmother was always there to supply cash when I needed it, and she understood pretty well how much I loved comics… (thumbs u They were really that much in the 1930's? You mean the prices? Depends on the issues, but the 1930s title I collected (whose issues currently go for $120-250 each) costed around $20-30 each in the mid-1980s so, yes, they were expensive for a fourteen years old.
  20. Welcome Mijael, you have got to get to know a little each market. I suppose you know your own (Mexico) – as far as Spain goes, Matteo (Marmat) lives there, so you can ask. There is also Peter which is from Portugal (but does not collect them in portoguese, I think, as he collects in english).
  21. Hey, I can’t believe that: you have never read a Captain Britain story, or a story where he is featured? I really must post some of the insides of those – at least X-Men and New Mutants readers are expected to know them… I am still wondering why everyone is after Captain Britain (first series) #8 which is merely the first appearance of Betsy, when actually Betsy becomes really relevant in Captain Britain’s second series, in the Alan Moore/Alan Davis and then Delano/Davis tenure. In fact, if you don’t read CB (2nd series) #13 and #14, you are left with many questions after reading New Mutants Annual #2. Those two issues are where Betsy loses her sight (which is restored by the nefarious Mojo with artificial eyes afterwards).
