  1. You love Byrne so much that he‘d have looked like a kid to you even if it was drawn like an iguana… Kidding apart, I should make you an example with pictures. To me, the definitive artist with enough mastery to draw children perfectly is Jon Bogdanove.
  2. I just bought that issue. I have a feeling they may have run out of them by now…
  3. Okay Magneto by and large has always been in peak physical shape with being in his 50's look. Ian has never looked the part. He looks old and weak. You are right in the sense that Magneto has always been depicted quite muscular, since the beginning. But we must remember that any super-hero (or super-villain) type was depicted as more-muscular-than-average up to when new artists with a subtle approach (like Neal Adams in the Silver Age or John Byrne in the Bronze Age) started to differentiate the characterization. Have you read the reflections I made upon Kevin Nowlan’s depiction in my previous post? I find pretty appropriate how he slightly made Magneto as an older man, while retaining a certain muscularity. Nowlan tended/tends to extremize certain features, but at least he can draw characters in all their ages. There are authors, like Byrne, which were never able to draw children properly (it‘s not easy to draw them, and it requires specific training).
  4. BTW, this one is the first apperance of Betsy Braddock with the purple hair we are accustomed with (book is in BW but she explains to Brian she got her hair purple):
  5. Yes I know, I have #150. I must get an Avengers Annual #10.
  6. Avengers Annual #10 is also where Rogue appears and Carol is apparently "syphoned" of her powers? I still miss it, too. And I understand perfectly, as I look for raw books and sometimes it is tough to find nice copies when there is a raising interest like now with the Ms. Marvels… Just in: the first issue of the Mighty World of Marvel (British magazine) with X-Men #141 and the final issue of Captain Britain magazine (vol.2, #14) featuring Betsy Braddock and predating the events in New Mutants Annual #2. I love the cover…
  7. Well, they can do whatever they want in these movies, but Magneto, as much "young" as he may have always looked, is the same age as Xavier, and they were children during the second World conflict, so the fact that now you perceive it as younger is just a fault of bad artists which started to depict him that way in the early 1990s. If you look for example at the rendition Kevin Nowlan gave of him in New Mutants #51, it is almost perfect, as he even aged him a bit compared to the classic image given in the silver age:
  8. You mean that’s the name of the character? Looks cool, similar to famous characters used in advertising in Italy, like Calimero. (thumbs u
  9. Dang, Bosco, that’s pretty cool. Ah, the Captain Britain v2 #14 has arrived, I set it aside for you with my spare copy of the #13.
  10. Actually I was thinking of #17 – you beat me to it! (thumbs u Make sure to grab a #16 as well: the storyline actually starts there.
  11. The Marvel Premiere #5 is beautiful. I have one in similar grade and with that black frame cover is so beautiful it makes you cry…
  12. Just got the GA Captain Marvel from Sharon, with a Boy Scout comic book freebie!
  13. Got other two books from Robert. As usually a lot better looking than the technical grade, and there are always freebies…
  14. Believe it or not, Federico, it‘s the first time I see it so closely! I was at the lunch where the guys from the Papersera forum awarded the current Topolino editor (Valentina Poli) but at the last Reggio Emilia convention, slightly after the book came out, it was impossible to find. And that is weird. I wonder which print run they have had on that.
  15. Now that you have bought a FF Annual #6 you have got to pick the corresponding What If as well, which is a really great story.
  16. Let’s not turn this into a movie discussion thread, pleeaaaze!
  17. Air should not be a concern, as there is always a bit of room for the comic to breathe. Rather I am thinking that with Mylites the flap is not sagomated to fit nicely within the bag, and since Mylar, when folded, keeps the fold, I’m not sure it is a good idea. I think you may end un with unwanted creases in the flap or the bag.
  18. I totally love this storyline… What is weird about these Heritage editions (Canadian?) is that the cover paper looks a lot yellower than US books, and also the cover graphic design has something "vintage" about it and they look like 1960s books while they are late Bronze…
  19. Too much love for Elvis and not enough for Stephen Strange…
  20. Slowly but steadily, Strange Tales #110 has always been climbing. Doctor Strange has always been a not-so-easy character that did not get the spotlight, and had an uneasy editorial life, but most of the material is top-notch. Heck, even the worst 1990s issues aren’t that bad!
  21. What a sweet #74. Yes, an awesome cover indeed. Coloring was also of an astonishing quality…
  22. I’m not really up to date with prices on a number of italian editions. Generally speaking, the first Captain America issues are valued less than the first Fantastic Four or Spidey, simply because it started a few years later. Your copy looks nice, so I’d say no less than $60-70 (without poster and stickers). This is a copy offered for 70 Euro currently sitting (unsold) on eBay.it: http://www.ebay.it/itm/CAPITAN-AMERICA-1-CORNO-STATO-OTTIMO-/110990844867?pt=Fumetti_Occidentali&hash=item19d791e3c3 Here’s a copy with the poster currently auctioned on eBay.it – (the price is quite crazy, in my opinion, as it does not have even the stickers): http://www.ebay.it/itm/CAPITAN-AMERICA-1-CORNO-POSTER-MANIFESTO-BELLISSIMO-/231010605055?pt=Fumetti_Occidentali&hash=item35c94e17ff
  23. The italian Cap #1 originally contained BOTH poster and stickers, but to find one with both means to be willing to spend over $200… BTW, the fixation for covers, while understandable, just doesn’t make much sense. The italian first edition of FF #1 (not in a comic book, and without the cover of course) is SO cool…
