You might be confusing the character of Bobbi Morse with her superhero appearances as Agent 19 and Mockingbird, which are as you have copied in your first post different. Bobbi's first appearance may have been in Astonishing Tales #6 but the first appearance of the superhero Mockingbird was indeed in Marvel Team-Up #95.

What is this CGC provided paperwork? I’d love to get a sketch cover sent to CGC after the artist finishes it.

The artist has to reach out to the Signature Series team and receive a creator agreement form. They then fill it out and return it so the book can be recognized under the SS program. Some artists will do this some will not, many that have never worked with CGC usually don't.

For those who collect slabbed/graded sketch covers, how does the rating factor in with the value?  That's the part that's always a little confusing to me about the whole thing.  Would a slabbed sketch cover collector turn up their nose at a 9.2 with a great piece of art in favor of a 9.8 that's in better condition, but not as good art?

I can only speak for myself but it would depend on why I am buying it. When I used to update registry sets a 9.8 was a high secondary focus so it would play a part. If I am just buying or slabbing just for art then I don't really care about grade. Also the artist played a part, if you're buying a Stuart Sayger sketch that comic is going to get wrecked.. lol. The art is going to magnificent though!

Back when sketch covers were huge there was a push for CGC to just authenticate the art without a grade because of how graders would just hammer the books if the artist accidentally touched the back cover leaving a smudge. It would have cut out a lot of turn around time making things easier for everyone, but that is not how CGC operates.

..and don't get the hate for them.  Well I sorta do ... people are just gonna hate.

I think the general hate for sketch covers by those who collect OA is more of a no true Scotsman fallacy of art collecting.

Heritage didn't do any favors by not being very choosy with the sketch covers they posted; I think a lot of these are going to go for less than ebay prices.

Then you've got some like this where it looks like it took 30 seconds.  Maybe the appeal is not having to go the effort and expense of framing, and in the case of the very low artist effort drawings, the CGC slab acts as proof of authenticity (no expert here in Perez or other OA but I think you might be hard pressed to know he really did it unless you accepted the signature as authentic.)

This is a great example of a George Perez convention sketch; he did these in about 10ish minutes for a $75 donation to the Hero Initiative, they are all done in this style. I have probably around 8 or 9 of these and love them; You would walk up to George exchange pleasantries, he would ask you what you like and draw it for you while having a nice personal conversation while doing it.

His line for the convention would be out the door; at no point are you going to get original art of your favorite character by an artist you like for the price offered. IMO con sketch covers used to be a great way to dip your toes into the massively expensive OA scene and potentially lose your money disastrous multi-year wait commission market.

Nice, this is one of the Yu variant covers. I had a subscription during this time so received all 8 different ones, I wonder if the dealer just included what ever was on hand instead of the base cover.

  7. Jim Lee signing:

    Received: 10/31/23

    Books signed: 11/28/23

Two of my other submissions have been returned; this one has never moved out of SFG. I wanted to give this some time as remarked books have been trickling out with a number of them shipped out last week. Reached out to CS this morning to check on it.

First email to CS sent: 1/29/24 8AM

Given how many books CGC has lost recently I am officially nervous.

I'm starting to go through my collection to see what I should get graded, and ran across a few last night that have me wondering how CGC handles books that are signed with a COA.

I have a few from Dynamic Forces, and one from a Comic Con that provided a COA.

Will they count them as Sig Series?

Also, what happens to the COA?  I assume it isn't encapsulated in the slab...

As already stated any book with an unwitnessed signature will be returned in a green label (usually) or blue label with deductions and "name written on cover" notation. Anything you send with the comic... ANYTHING; will be thrown away and not returned.

If you want the signatures verified and graded (or just verified) you will need to go to the guys across the street.

I just recently started sending some of my comics in for grading. I have an X-MEN and a Morbius that are both signed and sealed, I’m guessing at the time of the signings, that also have certificates of authenticity in the package. If I send them in do the certs get placed back in the slab? Do they get returned to me or should I open the packaging and remove them before sending them in? Just curious.

  10. I will echo the same sentiment as most; I have made offers in the past that were ignored. I have made offers there were accepted; but took multiple weeks to ship. I have had comics with grades I think were spot on, but mostly over graded which is why I stopped buying from them. It is unfortunate but they are one step away from grading like MHC but do enough business that it doesn't really matter.

  11. I hate to be snarky but you should also be thankful they didn't just "lose" your book as has become uncommonly.... common, given all the posts about it in the forums over the last 3 years.

Also; just refunding your money doesn't make whole. They knowingly mailed you someone else's book that you had to return only for them to not complete the service on your own book. Refunding your money just makes a null transaction; there should be some type of account compensation.

I have an image Angela #1 signed with COA, how do I submit it to get a yellow label verification encapsulation

CGC does not authenticate signatures not witnessed by one of their direct employee's or facilitators. If you submit the book it will return with a green label and "name written on cover" notation. If you want this book authenticated you will need to use the other guys.

That is an awesome remarq!!!:x The way the colored text behind works into the eyes... This gives me hope that mine will update shortly.

    Seriously congrats on those; wow!^^

  14. The only time they discount memberships are during November for Black Friday/Cyber Monday/Christmas and those are usually only for the lowest teir membership and you cannot get the discount if you are already a member.

Double checking their announcements I don't think they did that this year as they had 10/10 Day back in October:

    Quote

Get an Associate membership for just $10 – For 48 hours, starting at 9 a.m. ET on October 10, new and free members can get an Associate membership for just $10! That’s a $15 savings, and you’ll enjoy benefits like full submission privileges and 10% off at the CCG store. At the Associate level, you'll also get 10% off grading on submissions to CGC Cards. Use code 1010DAY to claim your discount.

  15. From the chatter most have their books back from the Jim Lee signing with a few stragglers.

My remarq is still sitting in SFG; I am not worried yet but will reach out in a another week to CS to check on it.

    Jim Lee signature only: Shipped

    Signature/Press: Shipped

    Remarq: SFG

@Ryan. it wasn't done by CGC, but by the seller of the slab. It made me think there were coloured cases.........i'm still new to CGC comics, and dont know it all yet.....

Just for helpful reference all CGC cases are clear; the labels are what is different. Not only in color but some have custom licensed characters.

Official explanations are hidden under the "grading" section on the main page but here are some links:

    CGC Holder

CGC Label *They need to update this section with a custom label option.
