Though from what I read 9.8 graded books in some scenarios do come back with a lower grade after a signing.. thinking this may have been a bad idea... Is this a common occurrence?

Common as in 3.5k 9.8 books were submitted and 257 came back 9.6 after SS, yes.

Due to handling by the artist/writer and CGC they take zero responsibility for you comic; heck they may even pile them on ground so J Scott Campbell can take a picture laying on them! You know, for funzies lol

  2. You already have a local comic dealer in the UK you are speaking with so I would hold off on any purchase prior to conversation.

If you are going to keep some of them sure, purchase mylites/boards; but it will not add additional value if you are going to sell the entire lot. It is a balance of looking nice for the next guy against you personally handling each comic to bag/board them again. You may want to push that risk off on the buyer.

I am going to a comic con for the first time ever and I want to get two artist to sign my books.  The CGC Rep at the con is Captured Collectables.

Should I submit an order for the comics I want signed / pressed / graded on the CGC website and pay up BEFORE going to the con?

Will this save me some $$ vs just going to the Captured Collectables booth and starting the process there?

Does anyone know what Kyle Starks and Bob McLeod charge for CGC witnessed signatures?

    Any other advice??

    Thanks

You will need to contact Captured Collectables, inform them you are new to the process and will need some help. They will give you a list of their fees, plus estimate the autograph fee (or have you pay after prior to submission). You will need to have your own account with CGC and fill out the following:

Looking at their WEBSITE it seems they still use the older submission model (through them) which I believe CGC no longer authorizes. In any case; shoot them an email and they will give you instructions.

  4. I am sure there are some premiums for it, like books signed by Stan on his birthday but overall no one cares.

I was lucky enough to get a Harbinger newsstand book signed by Josh Dysart a couple days after the book hit store shelves at a very small convention on either a Friday or Saturday and it was the first CGC signature of that book for almost a month. Eventually; I thought about selling it but not even the Valiant guys cared and they care about the craziest of minutia.xD

If you could please advise me, how can I safely divide the wrap into two separate pages, avoiding any green label or "trimmed" terminology, it would be greatly appreciated.

Am I allowed to use scissors, or a knife?  Do I need to tear it by hand?

Please contact CGC before doing anything! a post in the Ask CGC forum could help (and give you something to print out and attach to the submission).

I tried something like this back in 2019 when I wanted to get a wrap remarqued and signed and was informed it would receive a purple/yellow label due to using scissors to separate the wrap instead of tearing it.

Is that stuff used for 40k figures

it is for any miniature, it is just a dark lacquer really that clings to voids giving the impression of depth/shading. I use something close to this to brush on and not actually dip the entire model into it.

There are no "rules" for moderation, once you receive a suspension from a sub-forum it will likely become permanent. Any deleted posts are hard deleted and will not show up under the correct sub-forum (under moderation), the record of your suspension will also not be logged (in the same forum), and you will be ignored.

I speak from experience due to angering a mod; it is what it is and eventually the emperor will lose his cloths.

My 11 year old son started playing D&D recently and I've really gravitated to painting figures for his games.

I recently bought and painted this Galactus Statue. It was made from a 3D printer and purchased on Etsy. It took roughly 8 hours to paint and I'm still touching it up here and there.

I'm trying to settle on what to paint next.

That's a pretty awesome sculpt you might want to give it an additional quick wash for shading to make it really pop.

I hit 50, and now have been told I will not be getting let into the WTB section because my posts are only being made to get the 50 posts. Admin has been resting the count.  I was asked to get with admin in a month to see if I can be let in at that time.

None of my posts broke any of the forums rules. However, I will wait a month as directed. Thank you

That is a bit shady but par for the course on the forums; rules are malleable and you wont be told anything.

    Good luck

    Hello,

Does anybody know if Murphey (typically a writer for Miss Meow comics) draws as well? Any idea if she creates Cover Art for any comics? I would love to see if she’s willing to remark my Miss Meow comic.

She is a graphic designer by trade so she might only do computer illustrations. I have her email address, so will PM you.

  11. Not sure if the "multi-pack" adds value or not.

    Last ebay sales:

    12/23 CGC 9.8 $45 (auction had 3 bids)

1/24 CGC 9.6 $54 (best offer not clear)

There are a couple various 9.8s currently on Ebay that have been sitting there for 6mo+ for $180-$300ish.

Even superboy #9 which is the first full appearance doesn't seem to sell for more than $90; I am actually surprised given how popular the character has become.

  12. I am fine with the up charge for high value submissions but I am cautious of CGC taking on the role of appraiser, grader, and bill collector without also extending that value to the customer.

If over the course of grading and finalizing, CGC decides your high value submission should get bumped up to unlimited value they need to be forced to provide proof of that appraisal when returning the submission in addition to raising the initial declared value in case someone at CGC steals the book (or they lose it).

Was going through some old totes that were passed down from my grandparents and came across this comic.  A Google search shows it may be somewhat raw?  Any information on what I have here and/or suggestions would be greatly appreciated!

    Thank you,

    Flip

I would suggest posting a picture or at least tell us what book it is.

I am going to assume it was this book:

  14. I was able to watch this movie (invite; I did not pay).

Without spoilers; it can definitely be described as a movie...

There are some really good aspects:

    1. Some of the humor works if you like Dakota Fanning
    2. There are a couple really deep spider-man comic easter eggs most will miss

That is about it, I was hoping for maybe a campy so bad it is good film but it has some pretty major basic film issues. The script feels like it is a first draft that was never fleshed out with character development. If you liked the trailers then you are going to be unimpressed with the actual movie, it is a Madame Web focused movie not an ensemble team up. The "villain" has zero development outside of "i'm a bad guy and do bad things" and at least in the version I saw had terrible ADR that unsynched in some scenes (specific to only this character). While Dakota Fanning's humor did work for me she really looks like she did not like being in the film, in a number of scenes she has a thousand mile stare while mono-toning monologue. Which brings me to the absolute inexcusable decision to have characters describe their actions, explain plot points in an overly wordy dialogue, and never actually "do" things or show "action". What you saw in the trailers is pretty much it only withholding one action set scene.

The movie isn't Morbius bad but it tries its best to be with some of the timey-whimey aspects used as the main plot point.

I feel really bad for some of the supporting actors; Sydney Sweeney was so positive and excited in interviews about playing Julia Carpenter and her talent was wasted in this movie.
