I'm not a fan of the redesign or the creators behind it. But my understanding is that they redesigned the costume for trademark/IP reasons. There was a lawsuit with the Siegal and Schuster estates if I recall and they didn't want to risk losing control of certain rights, so they changed the costume to make sure the current comics and merchandise look was something they had full control over - which meant moving it further away from the original design. Anyway, on topic, Man of Steel #1 seems like a silly thing. Get while the getting's good I guess.

Don't worry, you guys, Venom 3 will be out soon enough for you. I thought Hawkeye was the best of the Disney+ shows, really good throughout. I had some quibbles with this finale, mainly that all the character arcs sort of tied up separately, so it didn't really come together as a finale since they were all split off fighting their solo fights. But it was a pretty small complaint. And the musical was a spoof. It was supposed to be cringey. I feel like I'm explaining jokes to my grandmother or something.

I thought this season was pretty good, but I struggled with some elements. They significantly changed one group of characters from the books/games, and while I have no problem with that on principle, in this case the changes seemed pointlessly destructive and bad. They also spent a great deal of time setting up all sorts of political intrigue with various factions which hopefully will pay off down the line, but which meant in this season, we had a lot of long storylines with characters I don't care at all about. And I really disliked the final episode. Henry Cavill is great, though. I just wish we got a lot more of him and less of everything else.

One of the best parts of this challenge so far has been helping other collectors find the books they really want. Just as an example of how the challenge works at its best. In the first round, one of my initial dollar bin books was a Megaton #2, with the first cameo appearance of Savage Dragon. I met a collector who had a complete run of Savage Dragon, including Megaton #3, and was only missing #2. He was thrilled to get it, and traded me a Flash vol. 2 #92 (first Bart Allen) and a Micronauts #1 for it, completing his collection in the prcoess. In the second round, I met a collector who had a complete run of Flash vol. 2, except he was only missing #92! So I traded the #92 to him to complete his run and in return, he sent me mid-grade copies of Avengers #100 and Iron Man #118. And in the third round, I made a trade with a collector who had been looking for both Avengers #100 and Iron Man #118. He sent me a Showcase #73 for the pair. So three collectors got to fill major gaps in their collections, and I traded a Megaton #2 - that I paid 50 cents for - for a Showcase #73 and a Micronauts #1. So far! It's been super gratifying to meet these collectors and help them find the books they need, and it's been really fun to get all these new books coming in that I've never owned before. Even if I never get to the All-Star #8, it's a lot of fun! Anyway, this is turning into a journal. Thanks all! CLOSED for now, thanks all! I liked it, except for the finale. I watched the anime back in the early 00s, but I don't remember much other than that it was cool. I enjoyed this version as well. My wife is a much bigger fan of the original than me, and she loved this version.

A lot of Thor talk for an Aquaman thread! Anyway, I think the Necrus thing is a red herring, as studios often use fake project names to throw people off the scent. I think the "Lost Kingdom" is Skartaris, and the book you should be looking at is 1st Issue Special #8. Of course, I've been saying this since the first Aquaman movie came out, but nothing I've seen from the second one has changed my mind. For those who haven't read Warlord, the area in the first Aquaman film where they go to get the trident - through the portal to a weird tropical land full of dinosaurs - that's Skartaris. Most of the history of Atlantis in the DCU was explored in the pages of Warlord. The story of the 7th lost tribe they tell in Aquaman is from Warlord #27 - that group that fled the destruction of Atlantis went through a portal and ended up in Skartaris, where they founded New Atlantis. As for what we've seen of the sequel, besides the name "Lost Kingdom" potentially being a reference to "The Lost World of the Warlord," there's also the fact that the photo of the "Necrus" scene clacker thing was in an ice cave. This is potentially important because the main portal to Skartaris is in an ice cave in Siberia. This is shown several times, including this instance in Warlord #128: Aquaman himself had a crossover with Warlord at one point also, though I'm not sure how relevant that story might be to the movie.

I believe it's his 4th appearance? Following Albedo #2-4. Also 1st appearance of Gen. Very underrated book in my opinion.

Wonder Woman #208-329 - $950 shipped This is a lot of 122 consecutive issues of Wonder Woman covering #208-329, the last pre-crisis issue, for 13 straight years of Wonder Woman stories from 1973 through 1986. Most of these are readers - a lot of books in the 3.0-5.0 range. Some are lower (one has a mustache drawn on it) others are higher (a few very nice ones mixed in). But expect lower grades and you won't be disappointed. Additionally, many of these books are signed. I personally had these signed myself, so while they aren't signature series, they are real. Some by creators who are sadly no longer with us. Just saw it. I thought it was pretty good, not great. It was at least 20 minutes too long, and the end battle was relatively boring and messy once the family conflict was over. Curious where the post-credits scenes are going. Also curious how this ties in with She-Hulk. They're doing something, but I'll be darned if I can figure it out. Between Wong appearing and the descriptions of the bad guy, with all the tentacles, I thought the monster at the end was going to have kind of direct link to Shuma-Gorath. It seemed to be going in that direction like so many things right now with Marvel, so the reveal was a bit anti-climactic for me.

Netflix and Archie Comics announced that they are doing a new movie based on The Archies: https://www.cbr.com/archies-netflix-live-action-musical/ This will be set in the 1960s, when the band first debuted, but it will be set in India, and is being produced by a Bollywood director. I shouldn't spill the tea, but I've felt for a long time that Life with Archie #60 is a hugely underrated key issue that right now is still basically worthless. It introduces The Archies - the band featuring Archie, Jughead and Reggie originally, with the girls joining later. This comic predates the Archie cartoon, which featured The Archies and which was a massive hit, leading to Archie-mania that resulted in a massive expansion of the company's line in the 1970s. The Archies also had a number one hit pop song in the real world with "Sugar, Sugar," which was one of the best selling singles of the 1960s. And The Archies as a concept has been important in and outside the comics ever since - trying to replicate the cartoon's success led the company to create Josie and the Pussycats, and Archie's interest in becoming a musician is a key part of the character now, including on Riverdale. All of that, plus this new movie, began with Life with Archie #60, which itself is a parody of the hit TV series The Monkees. I got my copy for less than ten bucks earlier this year. Maybe this movie will clue people in to the importance of this issue, though I doubt it. For what's it's worth, The Archies did play a gig in India during the "World Tour" storyline in Archie #650, which introduced some Bollywood characters to the title. No idea if any of them will be used in the movie.
