  1. This makes it seem like something you do on occasion jennyforyoutoo?
  2. is there something about swamp things in the #50's that is special? had a run of 50-59 sell for $40 last night.
  3. How do you find that information? I've always been curious to check listings I'm bidding on if I'm up against 1 other person. Thanks click the # of bids, then click on the other bidders. You will see the winning bidder has 100% bid history with them. Ok- so this lead bidder "o***e" has 100% activity with the seller. An obvious shill. That's sad, man. http://www.ebay.com/itm/161165554452?ssPageName=STRK:MEWAX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1423.l2649 (Not a modern, just an item on my watch list) Not always 100% = shill. One may just not bid much or has a seller they like. The guy has only bid 15 times on 14 items. Hard to say with a big seller like that but I would definitely keep me on the radar. +1 if it was a slab, and auction, and one of dre's auctions. every winner would be a shill since his customers only buy from him.
  4. The Usage Guidelines (aka rules for selling here) that have been setup by Arch explicitly state: 8) List estimated shipping costs, times, and methods. (my bolding of "times") You can read all about it here: http://boards.collectors-society.com/ubbthreads.php?ubb=showflat&Number=1460472#Post1460472 I assume this is the thread under discussion: http://boards.collectors-society.com/ubbthreads.php?ubb=showflat&Board=79&Number=7148414&Searchpage=1&Main=318308&Words=joeypost+PhoKing&topic=0&Search=true#Post7148414 There is no mention of shipping times. Before we start talking about understanding the rules it may be good for many of us to re-familiarize ourselves with the rules setup by Arch. No??? o snap?
  5. sometimes people just honestly forget, i missed sending a slab once
  6. Yes but in fairness it does work both ways. If a buyer delayed payment the seller would equally have to wait 30 days before pursuing the buyer. It is not weighted for or against one or the other. I definitely agree. Most other forums don't have rules or laws like these. Usually when a buyer doesn't pay you move on but with comics I guess these are not just collections or hobbies but peoples jobs. Well noted to let sellers know I'm bring the wraith of PayPal on them next time Next time, wait to pay until purchase can be mailed. If you are going to buy something from someone, always ask them how long it's going to take them to ship it after you pay. if they tell you it's going to be a month before they can ship it, post in the thread and then just notify the seller that he will receive payment when the item is about to be shipped. Maybe the night before or something. That way both of you will be happy with the outcome.
  7. Completely different audience. Ebay is NOT the best place to auction books IMHO +1 I don't know what has happened as of recent but it looks like BIN is the way to go. Its been that way for a very long time I think. Unless its a very high demand book auctions are for dumping and very very established long time sellers like maybe zilaf.(I do know a few sellers that hit home runs on auctions consistently, but they are exception not the rule.) The time of year used to matter with conventions, but they are pretty much going year round now. I am sure someone will come in and argue with me, but numbers dont lie. Comic sellers who use to do 99cent auctions have stopped doing it! I think that in itself proves your point. i stopped doing .99 for single issues and lots. no point. you will only get the .99 cent buyers that way. i realized that if i put a realistic price i want, it will sell eventually. but there are still sellers that do .99 auctions
  8. Just so you know, you can't prescreen fast track. i do
  9. I'm always surprised at these Adventure Time convention Variants. They sell for double on ebay what they cost at conventions, and the book is total drek children stoner hipster stuff. Not hating, just surprised. 1-The series is pretty funny, but I do agree that it is kind of hipster-ish, "it's cool to be nerdy" type stuff. The cartoon is pretty hilarious/ridiculous as well. 2-Aren't you into reading Bodie Troll and My Little Pony and that sort of stuff??? Or is it just for speculation??? I don't know. I wouldn't compare Bodie Troll with my little Pony or Adventure time - just because Bodie Troll is an original idea, and pretty well executed. Its a title that can stand on its own, and #1 first prints are long sold out and selling for anywhere from $6 to $10 each. Which is double its original price - a real modern that is heating up! When it comes to My Little Pony or Adventure Time - there is no speculative market - That is of course not counting convention variants which probably due to scarcity are always a "double your money" book months after the convention/event. Well thats because I'm usually high.
  10. Don't know about his auction but the buyer paid for mine soon after the auction ended.
  11. It was over 100 last year/ early 2013 perfect example of how you can tell how new someone is to the modern game. sold my 9.8ss last year for $250 i believe. The only MP1s that sold for $250 were double signed and sketched. must have been $200 then. it was double signed at heroes thanks to godofthunder. or maybe $100, or $180? i think? mess...

  13. If you enquire about a sub under someone else's' name will they divulge the grades or just the status? if its yours, they can give you grades and status.
  14. But what about the time value of money? Is it really worth the effort if you're only making $5-10? Honestly, I recognize that I'm being curmudgeonly because I'm frustrated by the long turnaround times I face for books I actually want slabbed, while I see pre-sale auctions for 9.8 books that came out last Wednesday. In most cases, anyone has a good chance of picking up their own 9.8-worthy copy if they'd just go to the comic shop. I get that there's a premium attached to slabbed books, but come on, we've just seen that much of it is illusory after you factor the costs of slabbing. It's not a good thing to get $40 for a $10 comic if you had to spend $30 to get it. Just sell it raw and be done with it. Oh yeah, the intent was to try for a 10.0 and sell it for a zillion billion. (thumbs u Agree. Time and effort is the big thing. If it's not going to be like $50 profit or more, I don't see much of a point. PS. Never use the word "curmudeonly" again. depends on volume. doesnt take a lot of time, and very little effort is needed. if you make $50 on an invoice, thats great. if you have a lot of invoices, that adds up. plus when you put it on your cc, and pay it off every month, its great. i get sooo many rewards points from capital one, its great.
  15. agree +1. i have some Mr T comics somewhere.. I remember being at WWChicago and seeing this huge line...at the end? Mr. T signing that comic. It was actually pretty cool seeing him in person. that would have been great
  16. 150 dollars in profit with the initial investment being how much? to some, 30x28.00(or 18 for non fast track, just slabbing) others less or no initial investment at all

Oh yeah, the intent was to try for a 10.0 and sell it for a zillion billion. not much of an effort. lots get comics online shipped. about 1/2 hour to fill out an invoice, another 1/2 to ship, wait, make at the least $5 x 30 books for around 1-2 hours of non work. 9.6s are a loss that dig into the gains and must be calculated and cost factored into the 9.8s. Getting all 9.8 grades takes luck and skill. Not everyone will be making the same money. true.

  19. How so? $28 to slab. $39 sale price...I'm not seeing the heat. because modern slabs sell for $15-20 Why bother getting them graded if you're losing money on them then??? i know right? I will never understand the logic of taking a comic right off the shelf, sending it in for slabbing (with the additional $10 for Fast Track) just to try to flip it immediately. You don't even know if the heat will last long enough to be able to cover the investment. Cover price + shipping to Florida or convention admission price for dropoff + slabbing fees + Fast Track + return shipping + eBay and Paypal fees = not much profit. I'm guessing most people are sending in 50 books with a pre-screen of 9.8? In that case you totally waste shipping costs. It used to be that you could make a little money, $5-10, on new slabs or at least break even.

  22. Given the scarcity, my copies just collecting dust in the for sale thread... drop the price. it will sell. whatever last sale on it was just take $300-$400 off. then it will sell here or put it on ebay and get closer to your asking price.
