  1. He gets the example from CGC. Touche. Marky's video and response here was reasonable. As I've said, I understand why he was angry, I believe in this video he even expresses remorse for calling on the CS rep. My .02---he gets rid of any public video where she was officially called out (as per Harshen's e-mail), re-posting the facts of the slab (which appear all very true and in fact not refuted by CGC publically) and move on.
  2. I'd assume if they are going back to the innerwell that times are going nowhere but north again.
  3. Well what I was attempting to accomplish won't work. I was trying to get Google AdWords working, but they are being straight up *spoon* heads about it, so F'em. Things are back to the way they were before, aw well. Jerome Interesting. So basically, if people are paying Google to advertise then pick up the hit? And it's not working? They probably only allow this from their web sites, right? BTW, the only hits I seem to get on Ad Sense is Heritage.
  4. You? God, I've been doing infrastructure / integration, having left development a long time ago. I'm picking up on all the jazzy tech on the weekends, so we'll see what happens. I suspect laziness may win but we'll see. If nothing else maybe it will keep me engaged in the hobby without having to spend any money. Lethal: The primary architecture I wanted to consider was to be a cached gateway and let sites integrate with me for simple add/remove calls from their web site, as opposed to me scraping information from everyone's web sites. Simply won't scale, and a PITA as folks will change sites / upgrade software which will render your scraping obsolete. From there, build a light web client that can access your account / filter information and simply let you know when something's popped up. This could be designed to be a batch / server execute that sends out e-mails or if client is local perhaps push notifications. I'm guessing this may work better on mobile devices than PCs given where folks have went. The real rub is getting dealers signed on with it, as they would need to add web services calls according to additions/removals within their inventory. Ideally I would only deal with certified books and require very limited information so I can get the rest from the CGC lookup function. That to me would be version 1.0.
  5. Hi, I've been basically MIA from the boards since 2012-2013, with maybe 2-3 posts a year. Hoping to be more present as time permits.
  6. Why are they still in business, really? People using them to pass off restored books as unrestored? After the "love affair" with Ryan Elliot articles with PGX and the stuff we've seen here I'd much rather use my 9.4-9.8 comics for my cat's liter box than to send it to PGX. Not included was a PGX book I cracked and sent in to CGC that came back restored. http://www.justafanboy.com/PGX/
  7. Sure...Savage complains....but Dr. Savage has more intelligence in one electron in his body than Marky does in his entire body. And despite the crappy video (he did apologize for it)....I did compare the book in both videos and he's made his point about the newton/rainbow jizz thing to my satisfaction--although he could've done it way more succinctly. What he's not talking about is how he treated the folks in e-mail and on the phone. I don't think however he detailed the book closely enough the 1st/2nd time for me to confirm the book was damaged. I have to drink alcohol to do that.
  8. It was just a 50 sec video with a YES song intro when he finds the comic wavy/ding on the back.
  9. Unless the Federal Government has added "butt hole" to the list of protected classes under Civil Rights Statutes, they are good to go refusing services to him. And he's a white male. He's done for. No chance. In reality, his point on complaining about his product/service is legitimate....but if he's getting on the phone dropping F bombs etc then they have to do what they have to do. But I don't want (and neither does anyone else wants) any book damage incurred during grading. That's a line that I don't think anyone wants to cross. Wavy lines and magical stress creases is a damn legitimate concern. As I've said before I've had one damage story from CGC, but they proactively let me know and took care of me. Not sure how they would handle that if it's an Amazing Fantasy 15 though.... Does CGC have an opportunity here? Looks like it. Does this guy need to take empathy and public speaking courses? You betcha.
  10. I don't think anyone can be forced into doing business with someone they don't want to, at least not in a case like this. But aren't individual_without_enough_empathys a protected class? TYL
  11. I like to keep it simple and just let "go fist yourself" cover all of bases. Your system is much to confusing. Sometimes the classics work best. Right. CGC Ban = Meaningless So, I do like to keep up with the comic-keys and jaenter folks of the world....is he submitting under a different person now?
  12. I heard him say "you mother " in his latest "unicorn rainbow jizz" video discussing the problem with the inner well and when he said "I'm going to stop this video and call them now" I immediately thought "impending ban". He suggested that CGC also damagd one of his books when it was re-re-holdered. I do think he has a point that it looks worse than any of the 1,000 books I have in my collection with version 2 of the slab, but he's going about it in a non productive manner. In short, if slabs are indeed coming out like this....CGC should take another look. I personally would not be happy with my slabs looking like that, but I'm not looking for perfection either. But, he can't be a complete individual_without_enough_empathy and CGC is justified in giving him a "cool off" period. Being a new yorker is no excuse for that potty mouth. It was entertaining though.
  13. Please add the Bronze Horror thread and the Bronze War thread in the bronze section for focused comic interests. Thanks.
  14. I would love to snag some DC treasuries one day. The storage of these appears to be a problem, though. I have enough of a hard time with the few magazines I collected.
  15. And did you take in the backdoor? And I would've gotten the sig charged eliminated and they would've taken any and all losses associated with that decision.
  16. I'm assuming the first post on the first page is what I use to fill my blocked bidders. If not, let me know. There are at least 10-15 that did not load for me....it might be wise to review the list and see if the ids exist and/or the person has taken on new identities.
  17. I've had this one in my collection for 10+ years....hard to imagine there's only one 9.6s and no 9.8s available of this Wrightson goodie. House of Mystery 213 CGC 9.4 Very lucky to have snagged this. It's been an endless game upgrading some of my "key" issues with Wrightson.... House of Mystery #231 CGC 9.8 Courtesy of our own greggy.... House of Mystery #236 CGC 9.6 Sadly the highest grade I have of 256 is 8.5....
  18. Are these garden variety issues resolved by PMing Gemma? I tried to add a book that has actually been in my collection for years and doing some "yard work" and have found that it cannot be added.
  19. ...Or a giant fly that spit acid on people so I can see their face melt!! Oh wait....CCA....
  20. I was cool with that, as it was a theme executed quite earlier in the series...juxtaposing machines with emotion. I have a thing for Issac Asimov's theories as well and seeing it play out in a comic was more entertaining that a bunch of goofs that look like Universal's monsters doing crazy stuff.
  21. Ya know, in the case of Weird War...I might make the exception to the rule. I absolutely detested the Creature Commandos and some of the stories starting around the early issue 90s on. Most of this genre was on life support for the last 3 years.
  22. Unfortunately, that's the case. I love them all because it's a set...it's like you can't start with desert without the main meal so from a collecting standpoint I'm all in....but If I had to chop 30% of my run the later 30% of the run would definitely be it...save for 1st I, Vampire and the occasional Adams, Wrightson, Kaluta, Kubert cover.... ironically though the later part of the run is what I bought off the stands and read as a kid, so there's still that nostalgic value....so still...tough call.
