  1. Wait, so we're supposed to ignore the fact that #3 was never made, and that no one cares about moving forward with the prequel started with Prometheus (not that it was stellar, but cmon). This is a 100% train wreck.
  2. ^ Yeah, I know what you're saying. Price doesn't seem better, and I really don't need additional advertising plastered on the boxes (no offense to them...I know they're a board favorite but I have my preferences). So I guess the price is what it is. I'd wish people would offer better pricing in higher bulk quantity. (20+).
  3. Does anyone know where I can get these boxes with the CGC logo on them to store ~30 per box in the most cost economical manner? It doesn't look like my old stomping grounds carries them anymore and the prices I'm seeing look "interesting". Thanks in advance.
  4. It seems I may be waking the dead in making this post....but it's quiet.... Just some random horror stuff since this thread has historically been my primary stomping grounds.... Has anyone seen the new horror movie "Lights Out"? Basic premise of a spectre that can haunt you in the dark sounds kinda promising. I believe the director also did "The Conjuring"....is that movie any good? I've stayed away from movies in general for last few years....wanting to give it another shot. I've never backed up anyone before on Kickstarter, but I've done so with Farrand and Vick with their upcoming psychological thriller "Untold"....check it out here and if you're inclined throw them a few bucks. I splurged for a couple of the cameos, and I can guarantee you guys might be a little surprised by it when it goes to print. They're UK based; I've exchanged messages with Dan and seems very pleasant and eager to get this off the ground so wish them the best of luck on this new venture. Untold - Kickstarter Untold - Facebook There's another effort I'm considering backing -- harkens back to the old B/W fanzines of the 70s....Crypt of Screams Crypt of Screams - Kickstarter I guess in general I'd like others to experience what I did as a kid reading these comics...hope you might consider that as well.
  5. I had this idea years ago, and standards have changed to make this very easy. If every comic vendor had an exposed web services interface for searching their inventory, doing this would not be that hard. I would suggest all comic vendors add a web services interface for doing such. In fact....there should be a global "standard" for doing so such that anyone who wants to integrate only has to do it once, not once PER SITE. I had an idea about a local service that could immediately alert you when a graded book hit the inventory of any dealer. Definitely niche, but makes it very nice and easy. Also imagine if dealers could find out WHAT was needed in order to sell. Demand anticipation might be a good tool for dealers as well. Who wants to lead this effort?
  6. Why doesn't collectinsure have your back with UPS packages? I've personally never had a problem with them. Also, IIRC, there were threads that talk of the "insurance" you get with the shipping companies is effectively when dealing with collectibles. I'd like to probe that some more as well.
  7. Maybe Matt's finishing the pedigree book first? Wow, its still not done? Lots of bickering. Guys, you're paying and getting the service youre asking for. TATs are estimates. You'll still get it faster than the guy who didnt pay more, it's just still longer than the estimated timeframe. I think the solution is two-fold: CGC actually communicate automatic and accurate TATs so people can make better education decisions. Secondly, take a whiff of reality people and get a clue and deal with the fact that you're books are going into the Twilight Zone for up to 6 months and don't use the faster options and save some money (although time can be money depending on the situation). Thirdly, TATs can get better OR WORSE and theyre not performance guarantees. I remember the "good old days" when Moderns were ~30 days and Economy were about 3 months. I have the luxury not to care of course since many of the books are just going to rest in my collection, so from an "opportunity cost" perspective I get the frustration....but I think people are being too unrealistic here. It may stand to reason why multiple grading companies are doing well and STILL being too busy...these are all GOOD problems for the industry to have.
  8. I can totally get behind the need for a service that allows one to view PUBLIC sales records where all can enter and compete and bid---auctions especially fit this model. I can also get totally behind a private business wanting to keep their OWN information private when a PRIVATE transaction is entered into. In my mind GPA and GoCollect are complementary. Let the marketplace decide. Or at least that's what we used to do. Nothing to see here.
  9. Oh wow. Glad to see some unicorns can be seen. Remember the price or PQ?
  10. Someone told me that if you web crawl sites, you get a visit from our very own federal government. Not sure if true, but apparently Google has a monopoly on this now. Didn't know about this new service, but apparently it's "same old"...visit many sources to arrive to the truth.
  11. Has anyone seen these in the wild? They're in the census....I remember HOS being around Metro in circa 2011. Ghosts #1 CGC 9.6 White Pages HOM #174 CGC 9.8 HOS #92 CGC 9.8
  12. valiantman--thank you for all that you do. You're the resident CGC data miner.
  13. It went for less than my original offer years ago
  14. I remember the good old days when CGC would chime in here. Was I drinking egg nog when that happened? I have to believe there's a nefarious seller out there...otherwise QA was out to lunch on this one. Which isn't good.
  15. I was going to say 4.5/5.0. I'm disgusted. I consider my grading skills lame outside of the higher grades but this is pathetic. CGC Reps have some splaining on this one, true believers. They HAD to have put the wrong label on the book. No other reasonable explanation.
  16. A sudden epiphany now that time is running out for the man. This should've been done (much like the Star Wars prequels) 20 years ago. I consider Blade Runner a much more cerebral experience, coupled with a gritty reality that I think was very much not of the day and age in which it was created.
  17. Nice. I have a nice 9.4 of that one. But then again today's 9.8 was yesterday's 9.4.
  18. Eerie Publications....many of these precode delights were in B/W magazines in the 70s. This caught my attention and is heading to my house now and wanted to pass it along. Technically not bronze but those magazine reprints I bought in the 70s were supremely wicked. http://www.amazon.com/Worst-Eerie-Publications-Mike-Howlett/dp/1631401149/ref=pd_bxgy_b_img_z
  19. Destiny Yes. He patrolled around in Weird Mystery Tales and a few other mystery books before catching his own title.
