  1. Imagine the outrage when comics went up 3 cents. Interesting cost perspective--I was born on or around the time of the change.
  2. How I yearn for DC to bring back their mystery anthology titles instead of doing carp like this. At least Creepy from Dark Horse is doing it right.
  3. The reason I ask is, I remember bidding on a 9.6 copy 10 or more years ago in a Vault comics auction, I remember the winner had the name sterling comics, so just thought it might have been you. It may have well been---I have my purchase notes buried somewhere. Now that's a name I haven't heard in a long time. Anywho, I like the QP better than my 9.8.
  4. I believe this came from bobcat.enterprises....VERY nice book---so not a CPR book. I might crack it and resub it b/c I think it might be a 9.8.
  5. Some nice books there. Just can't buy much right now. I know the feeling. The Witching hour #14 is a great cover, can you remember where you bought it? The 9.6 or 9.8?
  6. No! You have way more than a month for Econs. mmm my math was thinking it's still a 4 month wait. I forgot it's closer to 6 months now. I need to find that thread with "things to do while you wait for your subs" I love it when folks think Verified means they've graded it.
  7. Watching the Halloween franchise on AMC...Gore Matters Here.
  8. Some nice books there. Just can't buy much right now. I know the feeling.
  9. If anyone's interested, I have some bronze horror for sale in the VCC thread. I'll ramp it up for my yearly Halloween sale thread to sell my cast offs.
  10. CGC needs a notification service similar to E-trade. Notify me when turn around times is less than ___ days. And then have a bar that indicates days you could drag.
  11. It doesn't help preserve the value of the true 9.8s if they keep mis-grading. And you should complain, cause technically once you sell that for a drastic discount then guess what? Everyone else is expecting that price, even for the true 9.8s. It's messing up current collectors who bought higher as well as future sellers. It will eventually discourage submissions for the issue. They'll see. Delicate is the balance.
  12. That is the double edged sword, huh? Ten years of educating BUYERS of slabs have helped set the bar of what a BUYER should expect in 9.8....they can pull the wool over the submitter and make them think they got a "great upgrade", but it won't matter much if an educated buyer discounts the book accordingly, thus skewing GPA, thus creating more downward spiral... It's better just to do the grading job right the first time. Maybe hire back some of their old school graders to consult and keep the gang in line.
  13. Wait, what? That better not be true. If you are asking for an extra fee to bring the service speed up to about what it should be already and now are falling behind on that then you are getting into some serious business ethics issues. It's all relative...they still aren't promising WHEN...just that it's done FASTER relative to the other tiers.
  14. Ahhh one of my babies. I used to have that copy before I upgraded.
  15. Tough issue. Amazing that a lot of PS issues are as common as dirt, but on that issue---for some odd reason---you never see them in HG. The one I did see (a 9.6 3+ years ago) went for quite a pretty penny. After 10 years+, only 3 9.6s, NO 9.4s, and 5 9.2s. Apparently tough. Easily my favorite issue in the series.
  16. I have a similar story, I bought the Oakland copies of Phantom Stranger #12, Batman#237 and Detective #400, long since sold as raw copies , wonder where they are now? Funny you mention that. I can usually ascertain most of the copies of the books now, often recalling if I had that copy previously or not. Some of the babies have grown up and moved on, but it's nice to see them out from time to time
  17. Dang. Looks like you sold at a good time. I might have bid that copy up--glad I lost. I got a white paged copy a bit later, although I love my Oaklands.
  18. In recognition of my 20,000th post, I'm bumping this very funny (but short) thread that may also serve as a public service announcement for you guys who still live at home with mom and need help folding your comic box.
  19. I agree...that's what got me collecting the series. I'm kinda shocked at the quality of the series later on, though.
  20. I got #2 covered. I have the current only 9.8 in the census.
  21. I've found #3 to be tough in CGC high grades. Secured a #4 9.6 a few years ago. Now with the bloat of 9.8 grades I'm only targeting those now.
