  1. I've made several purchases from Dale. They all went perfectly, and the latest one is no exception. Awesome books, accurately graded, stellar packaging and fast shipping! Two thumbs up, Dale! Thank You!!
  2. You would make more money panhandling for change on a street corner with less effort. You have been on a road to failure for many...many miles now. And he'll probably stay on the road to failure indefinitely. Why would he change, when there is almost always someone, be it his parents or the taxpayers of Canada to subsidize his chosen lifestyle. By his own admission, he doesn't take anything seriously unless his back is to the wall. He admits that he's not interested in looking for another job, or even getting more hours at the job that he has. As someone else said, his actions speak far more loudly than anything he says. I find it ironic that he feels so good about selling 9 comics for a dollar each that he wants everyone to know about it, when working just one more hour a week at his job would have brought him more money.
  3. I would just like to state that my books from Chip arrived today. He pm'd me the tracking number and said that he was shipping them Priority mail, which he did. Although I will never do business with him again, and firmly believe that he belongs on the Probation List and in the Hall of Shame, I do want to give him credit for fulfilling his obligation and make sure that everyone reading this thread knows that he did so. I'd also like it to be known that my purchase from him was for 6 books for $25.00 shipped, and he spent $11.66 on shipping. That seems like a lot of work to net only $13.34, and I felt that I at least owe him the consideration of letting the board members know that he fulfilled his part of my transaction with him.
  4. I understand the reasoning for the above sentiment and I too would like to see Gabe STOP "dealing" in collectibles and get his personal life sorted out and focus on the really important things but I doubt that will happen any time soon, whether it be due learning disability/mental health issue, laziness or whatever. I don't know if or how he could be nominated to the HOS and it is probably not an appropriate option at this point. To my knowledge, the only person he has hurt is himself and he hasn't actually ripped anyone off. All he said was that he could have stolen (but didn't) and that he inappropriately used some social assistance money, which he is on a repayment plan and it is being taken care of through an appropriate administrative process. Based on his shaky financial status and other issues, is it possible that he could rip someone off or things could go off the rails in the future and have another "Chip" situation on our hands? Sure. However, I don't think we can put him on a list like that for an offence he has not actually committed. I also imagine that Gabe is on A LOT of personal "do not deal" with lists anyway... Thanks and I don't know how many lists I'm on and the government is making sure they get their money. Oh, I guarantee that you are on a LOT of lists, and the government always gets its money.
  5. Instead of an apology, which rings very hollow to me, how about an explanation of why it has taken you 2 months to ship out the books I bought from you back in November? If you were in such dire financial straits that you could not afford to ship my books out, which I paid for via PayPal friends and family at your request, how is it that you had the money available to purchase a phantom Star Wars toy collection on Craigslist?
  6. I bought a Batman 21 from Rick, and it was just as advertised, superbly packaged and shipped quickly! He is a great person to deal with and I hope to buy from him again! Two thumbs up!!
  7. I'd say this thread and talk of the Probation List and/or Hall of Shame is having a effect. I made a purchase from Chip on 11/4/16 and heard nothing until I sent him a PM on 11/26/16 asking if my books had shipped yet, to which he responded in pretty much the same manner that he did to everyone else. Today, over a month later, I get a PM from him asking for my address and saying he will ship my books out on Monday. I figured something was up, and with a minimum of research, found this thread. I'd like to get my books, but it irritates me that it took the threat of PL or HOS for him to fulfill his obligations. It's also more than a little irritating to know that he's reading this thread, but has not made a post offering any kind of explanation. Over the years, I've made a lot of purchases from Chip, mostly on ebay, but also on the boards, and except for the last one, every one went smoothly. I even had him on my favorite sellers list on ebay. This last transaction, however, changes all that. I wish him well, but I will never buy anything from him again, either on ebay or on the boards, and if asked, I would not recommend anyone else to conduct business with him either. Had this discussion of the PL and HOS nomination not come up, I highly doubt I would have gotten the pm from him today. As far as I'm concerned, the Probation List or Hall of Shame is exactly where he belongs.
  8. Of course he'll be fine. Gabe may not ever make it into the comic book flipping hall of fame, but one thing he does exceptionally well is find people to pay his way for him, either his parents or the taxpayers of Canada.
  9. Hep, I can't tell you how sorry I am for your loss. My wife and I have no children, so our pets (a dog and 2 cats at this time) are our kids to us. Losing a pet is like losing a member of your family. My thoughts are with you, my friend.
  10. I'd love to know what the real story is. First Gabe says he's being kicked out at the end of the month, and for someone in his position, he sure doesn't seem very worried about it. Now, all of a sudden, his parents decide to go on vacation for a month and want him to stay and watch the dog. Huh? His parents are so ticked off at him that they supposedly are kicking him out at the end of the month. Now, they are willing to trust him to take care of the house and the dog for a month? Who kicks someone out of their house in one breath and in the next breath asks them for a favor? That makes zero sense. I've come to the point where I now take anything and everything that Gabe says with a grain of salt.
  11. Don't assume that I'm a rude person, I have manners however this decision is something I stand by. The "decision" you seem to have made is to open your mouth at the wrong time, to the wrong people. The RESULT of your decision is your parents decided to pull your meal ticket and show you the door. I'm curious, as someone who has followed this thread from the beginning, what kind of "plan" you have that you are going to implement in 8 days? While a few months ago I would have said that this was probably the best thing that could happen to you, in that it might force you to grow up, your posts since then have convinced me that you are very likley not capable of living on your own. Being on your own can be tough, even for someone with a good, full time job, reliable transportation and plenty of time to find a decent place to live. You have NONE of these. So what, exactly, is your plan? Nothing is my plan. Sadly, I believe you. What happens when January 1st rolls around?

  13. Gabe, so what are you going to do now? The end of the month is 1 week away.
  14. The hours thing again right? I'm afraid so. No matter how successful (or unsuccessful) you become at flipping comics, the stigma of not working full time hours at your age is always going to be hanging over your head.
  15. Sure I sold it for 275 shipped before fees So these are the calculations Purchased $191 Sold for $275 Shipped before shipping and fees 275 -$14.60 Shipping -10.48 Paypal fees =$249.92 So then 249.92-191 =$58.92 Profit To be honest I'm just happy that I finally sold it l Nice job with the sale, Gabe! I hope it keeps up for you! ?
  16. I also hear that you, er... one can also make money selling comicbooks too. I made money one time by going to college, learning some skills, studying to get a certification, then getting a job. Yes I will be paying $100 per month for the rest of my life in student loans. So I guess it didn't work out? Except I'll probably make at least 4.5x more than $100 per month for the rest of my life? And I heard about this one guy who grew up in Italy and moved to Philly for high school, then was drafted to play basketball by Hornets and was traded to the Lakers. He was accused of rape and blew up Shaq's spot, but later won a bunch of NBA Championships. I know this other guy who was born and raised in Philadelphia. I believe on the playground is where he spend most of his days. He got in one little fight and his mom got scared and was subsequently sent to live with his auntie and uncle in Bel-Air, California. I heard about this other guy from Canada, half-Jew/half-black. He speaks slowly and softly to the beat about how he can't tell girls how he feels about them while rooting for any and every basketball team. He makes money somehow too. I know the third one is Will smith and that's it. You say you have a debt that you'll be paying for the rest of your life so why not pay it all off at once? I'm sure they charge you interest on it. And like you guys have taught me it could be money better spent elsewhere. Let me get this straight...You are giving financial advice to...ANYONE???
  17. Well, he gave two different numbers for how much it cost him (first was $108, then it was $116) and seeing the utterly convoluted and incomprehensible mess he made in explaining how much he spent shipping and how much the buyer paid and how he repeatedly changed the terms of the shipping costs on the buyer and who would pay what, I have zero confidence in any numbers being put forth here. That's because I needed to get all the numbers straight that's why it changed it again. You should have had the numbers straight before you gave your buyer a quote for shipping. Also, once you gave the buyer a quote, you should have honored that price. That's how reputable people conduct business.
  18. That kind of happens when you don't know what you're doing. Yeah it was a bit of a mess next time I'll do it better You've said that before. At least now I know what a broken record sounds like.
  19. I haven't even posted all the numbers yet Everyone here can see the handwriting on the wall. If you are on the hook for shipping, there's a good chance that after fees, you might only break even or even lose money. Why don't you post the dialogue between the buyer and yourself so we can see what you actually committed yourself to?
