  1. I recently ordered and received a couple thousand silver bags and boards from these guys. It is very disingenuous that on their website and on the box they state that their bags are made in Canada, however the product within the box clearly states Made in China. I was hoping and happy to support some North American manufacturing but am disappointed that that wasn't the case. These guys are in Canada; aren't there some strict consumer laws about origin misrepresentation there? https://officialcomicproline.com/collections/comic-book-bags
  2. you are correct I forgot about this, however $400 is still too low, coming from someone who doesn't typically submit books after 1988 or so.
  3. They also have a $1000 max value as part of their lowest tiers... so $24 or $40 vs. $85 to grade a $1000 book; $750 or even $1000 max value for modern/economy would go a long way to shore up offerings/adjust for inflation/etc...
  4. It's disappointing that once again, the value limits on each tier have not increased at all. For non SS comics, it'd be easier to swallow this if say Modern/Economy (Vintage) were $750 limit, and Standard was $1500. There's too big of a gap between the tiers, and I can't remember for the life of me when there's been an increase on value limits for Modern/Economy. A $400 limit is not realistic in 2023.
  5. The front cover of this book always makes it hard to grade w/o it being in hand. I'm going to say 6.0/6.5, assuming there's some FC creasing consistent with the visible spine bends that are visible.
  6. 1 Modern Magazine from 3/14/22 just moved into Grading/QC after being in GEI since end of January (2023).
  7. my bad, i missed "standard" in your comment; mine is modern/economy not standard
  8. assuming you mean 12/7/22, you're going to be waiting awhile. My 3/14/22 submission just moved to GEI in February, and was told it won't move to encapsulation until mid-April.
  9. 100% Turner is on this list, and doesn't get enough credit/is overshadowed by the likes of JSC and AH (both great btw). I personally love his cover on Action 813.
  10. You guys are missing something important in the argument about inspection of First Class and Media Mail. Only First Class Package Retail (e.g. pay at a postal counter, the retail rate) is not subject to inspection. First Class package commercial rate, which if you're using ebay, pirateship, stamps.com, etc... are commercial, and thus subject to inspection: https://faq.usps.com/articles/FAQ/What-are-the-Types-of-First-Class-Mail . If you're actively avoiding MM due to possible inspection, you need to also exclude First Class sellers too; for cheapy books that doesn't make sense. Priority Mail on the other-hand is not subject to inspection regardless if retail or commercial rate.
  11. Agree with lots of the replies so far (stay far away). That being said, if the books were my fancy I'd try and make this a buying opportunity and layer in a lot of the points brought up in this thread as reasons for a given wholesale price. Regardless, come back and tell us what happens/what you saw!
  12. fwiw I submitted an ME about two weeks ago, it showed up on the tracker on the 7th business day
  13. yup, but you can call customer service and they can switch it over to fedex if that's your fancy.
  14. are there any scans of the slabs and/or raw books so we can eye out?
  15. Question for the group, is it still conventional wisdom to not send duplicates of modern books in the same order (e.g. 3-5 of the same book)?
  16. I'm guessing it's zero fees for now in order to gain market share. 5% is cheap in comparison to other consignment options...
  17. yup, it pulls in everything and send updates back to ebay, you can largely just work through pirateship.
  18. It wasn't your question but would recommend checking out pirateship.com; you get $100 included insurance when shipping priority for free (instead of $50), and their private insurance is only $0.80 per $100.
