  1. Just got this back and while happy with the grade; I'd expect a book going through express to not have newton rings, have the inner well lay flat in the outer well (to prevent newton rings), and not have that big rectangular indent on the back of the inner well.
  2. you can get a browser addon to automatically refresh your browser tab for you
  3. whoa whoa whoa, hang on, this box looks ok Seriously though, that sucks this happened to you. Were you able to salvage anything? Did bags protect anything?
  4. Plastic pallets are the play here, stay away from wood. You can also get creative and use the shelves from those plastic assemble-yourself shelving units instead of a pallet.
  5. Express received 5/18 graded 5/26 shipped 6/2
  6. Congrats on it showing up! Faith in humanity restored?
  7. well TIL, every submission I've done in recent memory has had GEI start within two weeks of being charged.
  8. If you've already been charged, it shouldn't be long at all for them to go into grading.
  9. We're at 24+ pages... WHO ARE THE PROMINENT MEMBERS and why have none of them come to Matt's defense of why this is a great idea? It'd be better they just came out and stated it's a money grab + service/quality inflation (same price, less product) + abdicating culpability.
  10. Unless the seller is a meth head, then you just get stabbed and robbed. I agree, this tactic is trashy, especially when the seller usually has some emotional/nostalgic connection to the books they're selling.
  11. 100% this, goodwill goes a long way; in addition to being respectful/personable, when you give them a little more than then ask (because they don't know what they have/what it's worth), they call you back first when they find a forgotten box and they give out your number as a referral when they have a friend with comics looking to sell. Case in point, I recently picked up a beater bronze Marvel collection from 1977-1981, so no GSX1, X-Men 94, IH181, etc... I gave him a little more than he was asking because his ask was too low. The guy called me back two weeks later after he found his Hulk box, that he forgot about, and to my surprise, the only pre-1977 book was a beater IH181 with MVS intact. Goodwill and respect/integrity pays dividends.
  12. I can't imagine trading sweet sweet Kirby/Stan/Ditko for Rob Liefeld...
  13. I don't like these changes at all, however it'd be MUCH easier to swallow if CGC would: 1. incorporate QR codes at the same time as this change, and scanning the barcode opened you DIRECTLY to the grading notes - no logins, no membership, no wildly_fanciful_statement AND 2. clearly clarified the definition of "significant" for missing pieces AND 3. GUARANTEED going forward, EVERY SINGLE BOOK will have grading notes, full stop. Books that don't get grader notes are sent back and re-inspected on CGC's dime, just like when they damage a book in their possession Outside of the above, there SHOULD NOT be LESS disclosure on the already gigantic label that can hold a lot of grader text, but MORE disclosure on the obnoxious amount of white space on the labels.
  14. Just think, if Marvel would've done something like this originally (maybe a silhouette or shadow or something, not an actual cutout), there would be no discourse on whether this or 181 is the true first appearance. I think it would've created even more hype for 181 if you didn't know what he actually looked like yet
  15. I'd take it if I get to pick the 10% of books I sell you
  16. I mean if they get rid of the slabs, it'll get rid of the newton rings too!
  17. So is a missing MVS "significant"? It's pretty small, and doesn't affect the story... It missing is the defacto grenade to a Hulk 181's value. Who is going to pick winners and losers on "significant" and is it going to be consistent? You know the answer here...
  18. this one is especially bad; it's unrealistic to expect a buyer to login and search for grader notes every time they're looking at a really low grade book. This will make it especially confusing/difficult when there's something missing from the book but it's not enough to warrant a qualified label (e.g. how sometimes a hulk 181 with a missing MVS gets a low universal grade instead of a qualified label).
  19. There is nothing like the feeling of combing through a box in a collection and seeing ANY Amazing Fantasy issue. You're heart skips a beat, you say a small prayer, mutter "oh please oh please oh please", you hold your breath, and flip to the next book and see that it's
  20. Just one for me, I'm little disappointed by the OW pages
  21. I'm expecting you'll show us Omega Red's first appearance, not Magneto's second appearance.
