The teenage nostalgia those Gen13 covers stir . No matter how many copies I have, I always hang on to the mini-series and #1 variant issues when I find them in collections. It's recently spilled into a second short box. -
It's not just Marvel/DC, there's lots of "photocopy" Warren, Creepy, Eerie, Vampirella listings too.

awesome book, glwts!

I'm not defending, however if there are truly no color breaks, which I recall they don't always note if stress lines are color breaking or not, how bad was the cover creasing?

100%, pretty big risk paying that much under duress and in a rush. $4100 seems like a pretty specific price too, so I'm guessing at best he paid retail. I hope there's no inconspicuous color touch, etc... -
look at the awful number alignment and font size differences; this belongs in the "where in the world was quality control" thread... sheesh
-
it'd really be great if CGC would divulge how they work through the SFG backlog for each tier. I wonder if it's value based (to get highest dollar books off premises asap), seniority of submitter, proximity of box to box picker, etc...

You give me hope, my regular modern sub received on 3/14 is still in SFG

Came across these suggestive panels today in DC Comics Presents #59... looks like there is a lot more going on than ear touching

Flash Gordon #1 King 1968 military giveaway is it scarce?
ramrodcar replied to rjpb's topic in Silver Age Comic Books
that hand is all sorts of messed up, where's the thumb (seems like her hand is in a really unnatural position) ? I don't have a copy of this book, does she have any fingernails? I can't tell from the scan. -

Sheesh, his color coordination is atrocious, purple adult size onsie, green tights, orange cummerbund, red cape.... you can tell the girl is thinking the same thing, she's not leaning in, she's pushing away. -
You have to look at it, if you like 122 better you should buy it first

Where in the world was the Quality Control at CGC???

Is it some weird lighting or is the whole top of that cover crunched? I mean I guess it's the later if it's in this thread..... that's really bad. -

Went back today, still going through everything but thought I'd share this score, it's still sealed (with a shrink wrap tear). -

I bought part of a DC collection that was heavy Batman/Detective last week. I was psyched about the easily NM+ Harley Quinn I spotted, I was even happier when I found the other one hiding in stack of 6 random books in a bag when I got home.... score! Going back for more this weekend, who knows what else is hiding out! -
People actually have magazines graded? I thought the only important "magazines" were early TMNT issues... Apparently I've had too much to drink tonight

I can't even wrap my head around the hammer price on this, maybe it's because I don't have nearly the same amount of you money.. I'd love to know if this was investment speculation or the person really loves black spandex Spidey. Each day that passes collecting these old pieces of paper becomes a little less affordable for the everyday person.

Help Deciding on First (somewhat expensive) Purchase
ramrodcar replied to The bard's topic in Comics General
Have you looked at the census numbers to help you decide? There are a TON more ASM 361's than Hulk 340's and ASM316's. If it were my money and my situation, I'd go Hulk 340 every single day. There's fewer graded, it's a less popular title than ASM, so my brain equates that to less supply (both graded and raw). It's an iconic McFarlane cover but it's also really simple and clearly digestible. I look at 361 and to me it seems too busy; it takes a few seconds for my brain to get oriented and figure out what I'm looking at. -

Better hope the 1099K thread posters don't spill over and see this; they'll complain how you've harmed this guy and his situation by making him get a 1099K next year... -

I was thinking about it however technically I don't think the indentation alone is keeping this book out of a higher grade considering the tears and the line breaking crease. Looks like a bindery defect to me -

Picked up a small-ish original owner collection this week, mainly kung fu related books from the 70's (Master of Kung Fu, Iron Fist, Karate Kid, Richard Dragon, etc...). I was excited it contained an Iron Fist #14 in FN and a beater Marvel Special Edition #15. I started bagging/boarding under stronger light and low and behold, it looks like someone was drawing a and had this book, of all books, underneath it.... smh.
