  1. I know, right? Hey, I should probably thank the little tyke, it isn't every day you can find a GL #59 for five bucks....
  2. Got this in the mail on Saturday. It was one of only FOUR Silver Age Green Lantern issues that I had left for a full run, now I only need three more. I paid for a #5 on ebay over the weekend, but I don't cross anything off my wantlist until I have the book(s) in my hands. Anyway, this is the rare "red variant" of GL #59. Just kidding, some kid had a field day with a red crayon and this cover. I would much rather own a better-looking copy, but I've been looking for a copy of this for a while, and I landed this one off ebay for only $5 (I was the only bidder - surprise! ). It'll do for now. The seller agreed to media mail shipping, so I marked this off my list for a whopping $7.07 total. Hopefully I'll be posting a scan of #5 soon. Then I'll only have two left!!
  3. I just sold a copy of #49 on ebay that ended Wednesday night. Nice grab, btw.
  4. Trust me, I know I want to! I've been trying for quite a while now! I've had to call a couple of moratoriums, which have slowed me down, but I've got my eye on the ones I still need. Hopefully I'll be done by the end of the year. Hopefully.
  5. Won this on Monday, got it in the mail yesterday (Saturday). It was one of only FIVE Green Lantern issues I need for the full SA run (and it's the first GL/Flash team-up, to boot!). Only four left, and I've got some stuff on my watchlist on ebay. I'd LOVE to finish this run before the year ends.
  6. Congrats, chrom! Nice to almost be done with the series, isn't it?
  7. Found the scan of my FF #1. Have I told you guys that I LOVE owning a copy of this book? It's a HUGE piece of history, and I'm a huge FF fan.
  8. Where's tilleycs? Why, I'm...very late to this thread, obviously!!! From the looks of what's already been posted, my FF #1 is the lowest grade of all of them (around a 1.8, and unslabbed). It doesn't really matter to me, though. I'm still thrilled that I even own one. I thought it would be years and years and years before I'd be able to afford one. I'll see if I can find a scan of it, we changed computers recently and I'm not sure where the scan is. I'll also try to find the pics I'd posted here recently of the issues I bought recently. Lemme go do some searching..... **Edited to add the pics I found....Mucho props to mattbird for the referral that allowed me to get these...**
  9. Hey john72tex, nice GL issue. That's one of the handful I need to complete my Silver Age GL run.
  10. Sweet ST books, I've never seen those covers before. Why does the Watcher look like a sumo wrestler who's either unhappy or sleepy?
  11. Very faithful! Good, I'm looking forward to reading them, then!!
  12. Exactly, and that's the reason I bought 'em. I've never read the 2-24. I've read reprints of 25 and 26, but nothing before that besides #1. I'm kind of curious if the old FF cartoons from the 60's held to the comics any.
  13. True, it's gotta be a fake. I was robbed! Thanks, Red. I have a few lying around, I think. The books look a lot nicer in them, anyway, so I probably will.
  14. O.k, I'm finally getting around to posting these. Thanks to a referral from mattbird, I was able to purchase FF #'s 2, 5-20 all in one shot from a guy in Canada for a GREAT price. They're all reader copies, and the guy wanted to sell to someone who would buy them for their personal collection, so he gave me a great discount. I paid about 35% of guide price, and that included shipping all these from Canada. I'm on a comic-buying moratorium for the rest of the year, so these will have to last me for a while. I think #5 was signed by Stan Lee at some point.
  15. Mega-kudos to herald2galactus for the FF #36. He had posted a scan of his upgrade, so I PM'ed him and asked what he was going to do with his low-grade copy, how much he wanted for it, etc. He said to just give him my address, and when his upgraded copy arrived, he'd send me his low-grade copy if I'd just cover the shipping. So I gave him my address and waited to how much the shipping was. Got it in the mail yesterday, and he shipped it via USPS priority mail, free of charge. Free comic, and free shipping. First-class (or should that be "priority"? ) guy all the way. Much appreciated!!!!
  16. wdb23 - Neat book! Never seen that before. How'd you find it? Silver Surfer - SWEET Cap book! Never seen that one before, either. Where'd you pick it up?
  17. Mega-kudos to mattbird for referring me to a guy in Canada (non-board member) who sold me a lot of early FF's. Thanks, Matt!!
  18. True dat! Best thing about reader copies - they're low-stress books!
