  1. Alas, poor @Yorick...I know your pain all too well (I'm probably very guilty of what you're talking about with my Walking Dead Complete with Variants Registry Set And not to take the opposing side of this complaint, but it's the dressing up of our sets that make them interesting and competitive I like to think. While it may be tedious to scroll down each time per page maybe one day the page #'s can be added to the top AND bottom so you could more quickly go to the next gallery page. If so that would speed up getting to the next page (or if we had an option to expand the gallery to more books per page, like 500 for example, instead of whatever # it's currently set at). Either way, I kind of like the gallery images and set descriptions because the majority of sets have nothing posted whatsoever other than the cert #'s of the books.
  2. Thank you to @CGC Lyndsey for pointing out this thread to me! I should have searched harder as I know this type of thread exists in the comics forum for new set requests but nevertheless I've finally been directed to the right place! I requested these sets on the CGC Registry request page but just in case I also needed to do it in this thread, here are my new card set requests: 1. Select a Game: Marvel Trading Cards > Select a Sub-Category: Creator Era (1986-1996) > Select a Set Type: Marvel Universe Series III - Holograms 2. Select a Game: Marvel Trading Cards > Select a Sub-Category: Creator Era (1986-1996) > Select a Set Type: X-Men Series I - Holograms 3. Select a Game: Marvel Trading Cards > Select a Sub-Category: Creator Era (1986-1996) > Select a Set Type: X-Men Series II - Holithograms That's all for now - thank you! ~ SR
  3. Is there such a thing as 'too descriptive?' (asking for a friend...and that friend is me)
  4. Hey there! I requested for a few Marvel related sets to be created (X-Men & another Marvel series). Currently the only Marvel sets from the Creator era (early 90's) are for Series 1 (and there are a ton more). I'm late to the start of the Card registry in general but would like to get my cards added to sets once they are created. I figured my request is in the queue somewhere but didn't know what the turnaround time on set creations typically is. Also, is there an awards competition for the Card registry yet or do you know?
  5. Hello @CGC Lyndsey and thank you for your work over here in the cards division! Will the Cards registry ever have annual awards like how the Comics Registry does? It would be fun if so (just curious). Sorry if this has been answered somewhere already!
  6. Thank you! I was in there originally but got moved to the Comic registry (I've been around here for years and am just getting started on the card collecting) - I requested some new sets for cards I have with no sets to go in and know it's a slow process but was just curious what the expected wait time was (weeks, months, etc.). Either way I'm just happy to be here
  7. To whoever is reviewing this - not sure why it was moved to the CGC registry slot (comics) - I'm asking for the registry sets being created for the Cards division. Any info that can be passed along would be appreciated (thank you)!
  8. Hello all! I requested a few new sets via the request form on the card registry set and was just curious as to how long it takes for sets to be created once submitted. If this has been answered previously please forgive my question. Thank you! SR
  9. I think in the long term these will be decently valuable. I sold one of my two (waited too long but pretty much broke even on it after buying it raw for way too much) and sold my Gunslinger for a decent profit. I think that the GS and the 3rd one on the horizon will be a little more valuable since they'll be more limited as less people have the 'fever' on these now that the #'s on KS1 were higher than expected. They're pretty low by comparison to OTHER keys and are must haves for Spawn collectors in my opinion but other than that I see them hovering around the 1K range for a while (800-1200ish). I bet some of the new 9.8's are from pressing and have just been in queue for a while...that # should stop soon, though- and still, no green labels yet so not sure why.

  11. I'm honestly not sure what the thought process is on any of the TWD comic marketing. I mean, an entire reprinted series just for color and cutting room floor info? Surely this isn't selling like hotcakes, right? I don't follow it at all and I'm too smart with my $ than to collect this run like I did the original one (thank God) but with as big of a cash cow as TWD has been this was the lazy option when there are SO many better routes to take. Imagine if Marvel had just decided to reprint ASM from start to finish over the years versus the numerous spin offs and other titles that they've done instead...how would that have gone? Not well. I just think that there could be SO much more than this out there with as big of a universe that COULD be explored if the reigns could just be handed over to a new writer/artist...Todd McFarlane did this with Spawn, why could the same not be done with The Walking Dead? SMH...I'm just bitter I guess because I'm tired of the lazy reprints.
  12. We need something beyond colored reprints to kickstart the love for TWD again. I'm patiently waiting for that day to come but the deluxe series just ain't cutting it for me. How are the sales doing on that run, btw? Anyone know? Here's to hoping for some more original content soon!!!

  15. + 97 more graded CGC 9.8 copies which contains 1 universal 9.8 (I'm guessing a mis-grade from what should be an SS 9.8) plus 83 more SS 9.8's. The total 9.8 pop is still under 1K but I'm guessing this increase was due to some of the CCS books coming out of pressing as we're well past the deadline for submissions to get the yellow labels. Still no qualified labels, though. But out of the total pop 141 of these didn't hit the 9.8 grade. Also important to note that there are 692 copies out in the wild. I've seen at least one from the other company (why go that route for grading with the specific CGC deal is beyond me ). I wonder when the census #'s will trickle on these subs, too. 16. I feel for you. At least it was a neutral but how stupid does a buyer have to be . eBay has taken away all recourse for sellers to keep from being crapped on. Hopefully my experience will block him from a few good sellers on here at least.
  17. rywee99 Left me neutral feedback because he felt that the graded CGC 9.6 book I sold him was not truly a 9.6 book. Let him bid on your auctions at your own risk but he won't be bothering me again that's for sure.
  18. Census update again today! We are now up to 908 graded copies (+32 from last week's update - the smallest gain so far). With the CCS pressing copies coming out a little at a time this number may trickle up over the new few weeks. So far still no qualified which makes me wonder if CGC was lenient with this first TM signing. I mean these COA's and books combined would be pretty hard to fake in my opinion so I can see why they'd do that if so (but until I see a qualified copy this is what I'm speculating). At any rate, still under 1K SS 9.8's so that's good for the long term I think! Sending off my lone Gunslinger Spawn #1 for grading tomorrow...cross you fingers for me, gang! 19. Census update! Looks like we gained 38 more 9.8's to put us up to just a little over half of the overall total books making the 9.8 grade so far! Also important to note that so far there are no qualified green labels on the census (yet). Lastly, 127 of the overall 876 graded so far did NOT make the 9.8 grade. I'm excited to see what the future weeks hold in store for the census update on this book. I'm willing to bet that the 9.8 totals don't go past the 1,000 mark and if that's the case that makes the yellow label 9.8 books pretty special (at least in my opinion). 20. I'm so sorry to hear that To be honest I still think it'd be good to get it graded because at least it would or could get an official 9.8 grade as opposed to just being sold as-is raw. Even without the yellow label I think the grade helps
  21. New update yesterday! 152 more 9.8's (16 or 17 whatever # of the new SS 9.8's were converted from those incorrect blue label universal 9.8's - confirmed as a mistake by CGC apparently based on what I read on one of the many Facebook discussions I've seen on this). Check out the new update after the last 2 weeks (no idea why last week there was no update but it's just a slight increase). Still, 715 9.8's out of those near 1700 signed copies is still way lower than I expected at this point. I'm sure some are still backlogged by CCS but who knows...maybe those were bumped to the front of the line but that's just me speculating. Either way, I bet we end up under 1,000 yellow label 9.8's by the time it's done based on this slow roll of #'s trickling in. Sidenote - does anyone know if CGC is now turning the submissions past the 30 day threshold into green labels or did they back off that stipulation? 22. I ordered one so here's to hoping it and my multitude of other copies come in in decent shape Also - no updates on the census #'s for King Spawn #1 this week - surely that's just a CGC purposeful decision, right? Does anyone know how often they 'skip' updating the census from week to week?
  23. I stand corrected ! And here I thought using NM+ for a 9.8 CGC graded book on an ebay listing was accurate - below is what's taken directly from CGC's site on the 10 point grading scale... Standard Grading Scale CGC grades comic books, magazines, concert posters and lobby cards using a highly accurate 10-point grading scale. Below are CGC’s grading standards for each numeric grade. For the similar 10-point scale used by CGC Trading Cards, click on Trading Cards above. Gem Mint10 The highest grade assigned. The collectible must have no evidence of any manufacturing or handling defects. Mint9.9 The collectible is nearly indistinguishable from a 10.0 but will have a very minor manufacturing defect. It will not have any evidence of handling defects. NM/M9.8 A nearly perfect collectible with negligible handling or manufacturing defects. NM+9.6 A very well-preserved collectible with several minor manufacturing or handling defects. NM9.4 A very well-preserved collectible with minor wear and small manufacturing or handling defects. NM-9.2 A very well-preserved collectible with some wear and small manufacturing or handling defects. VF/NM9.0 A very well-preserved collectible with good eye appeal. There will be a number of minor handling and/or manufacturing defects. VF+8.5 An attractive collectible with a moderate defect or a number of small defects. VF8.0 An attractive collectible with a moderate defect or an accumulation of small defects. VF-7.5 An above-average collectible with a moderate defect or an accumulation of small defects. FN/VF7.0 An above-average collectible with a major defect or an accumulation of small defects. FN+6.5 An above-average collectible with a major defect and some smaller defects, or a significant accumulation of small defects. FN6.0 A slightly above-average collectible with a major defect and some smaller defects, or a significant accumulation of small defects. FN-5.5 A slightly above-average collectible with several moderate defects. VG/FN5.0 An average collectible with several moderate defects. VG+4.5 A slightly below-average collectible with multiple moderate defects. VG4.0 A below-average collectible with multiple moderate defects. VG-3.5 A below-average collectible with several major defects or an accumulation of multiple moderate defects. G/VG3.0 A collectible that shows significant evidence of handling with several moderate-to-major defects. G2.5 A collectible that shows extensive evidence of handling with multiple moderate-to-major defects. G2.0 A collectible that shows extensive evidence of handling with numerous moderate-to-major defects. G-1.8 A collectible that shows extensive evidence of handling with numerous major defects. Fa/G1.5 A collectible that shows extensive evidence of handling with a heavy accumulation of major defects. Fa1.0 A very poorly handled collectible with a heavy accumulation of major defects. Poor0.5 A heavily defaced collectible with a number major defects. Some pieces will also be missing.
  24. I don't disagree with you on what the condition of some of them should have been but to send back a 9.6 level book would have most likely perturbed the Todd-father lol. I think only if the copies had blatant damage is when they'd accept a replacement and they never did guarantee any 9.8 worthy books as they can't do that (that's just not good business or smart, either). My two copies looked really good (thankfully) when they arrived raw but I can't say I didn't stress over what they'd look like before I opened them up and inspected them prior to grading. The only pro graders in this case would be CGC so if they (Image/TM) guaranteed raw 9.8's then that would have cost them a LOT of money in replacement copies as many raw comic graders can't discern the difference in a VF/NM book to a 9.8. And - sidenote - when you see a raw seller on eBay using the 'NM' designation for virtually any book they sell it's a dead giveaway that they have no clue how to grade. According to CGC, there is no 'NM' grade. I got sidetracked on the above a bit but hopefully you know what I mean...it's late and I'm tired
  25. 249 more 9.8's added to the census (2 more blue labels and 247 yellow labels). Still only like a third of all the copies total have been sent to CGC (over 1,000 signed copies have yet to be graded). I'm sure there are plenty at CCS but surely not 1,000. I wonder what the #'s will be like in another month!
