  1. Two things: 1. not all of his books are at the 9.6 grade (the ones damaged, that is). Some are more damaged than others... 2. in a perfect world he wouldn't need pre-graded pics but with SCS and mishandling in the opening/receiving phase it's the only way to have some recourse to make a case against damage like this if it didn't happen post-encapsulation. Likely it doesn't matter in the end but it's a way to try to determine when/where the damage occurred. Also keep in mind he went through an LCS to have his books graded which is adding yet another 'handling' in the chain of events leading to him getting back the books.
  2. Just caught up on this thread, but what was the purpose of mailing the check back to them that they sent you as the refund? And did you provide them any tracking info on the returned check? If not, they are most likely hesitant to refund you as how do they know you don't have the check still (assuming it never made it to them if you did mail it back)? I'd be absolutely hesitant as a seller to accidentally potentially double-refund a customer with both a check (which has yet to be cashed and possibly held on to) and through a credit card. I know you've heard this already, but mailing them the refund check back was not the best move and I understand why they've not sent it yet. Granted, they could cancel the check in advance through their bank but this was just an odd thing to do. I do agree with you 100% that books can get SCS in transit, though...and I am very particular about my books, too. In this case, it appears like the others have said that this book is just loose and not detached - you most likely could have shifted it back into place on your own but I know that's not the ideal thing because it leaves you wondering if it's actually a 3.5. It's a difficult game to play, this game we all are in...the graded comic collecting game.
  3. This may have been asked of you before, but do you have any pre-grading pics that you can compare to the current encapsulated ones? If not, there's nothing you can do but you can always try to contact them to see if they'll help (I doubt you'll get very far, though). There are just too many variables between you, the LCS, shipping, then CGC to determine when the damage happened without pics. The good news is, some of these defects can be fixed with pressing (the non-color breaking ones, at least) but then you'd start the process all over and wait a long time to get them back. Is there any option for you to send these to a well-known presser and sub them to CGC through them maybe (and not your LCS)? Many of the good pressers have relationships with CGC and can sub books for you (if you're not able to have your own CGC account, that is). I wouldn't go the same route you did this time just to avoid a repeat of this situation.
  4. Speaking strictly from my opinion on the two TWD Skybound X stories (Rick Grimes 2000 and Clementine) - what are everyone else's thoughts on these, good, bad, & ugly? Here are my takes... 1. Rick Grimes 2000 - I absolutely love it! Wish it could be an ongoing! Totally out there and different but I very much like it and Ottley's art is spot on. With Kirkman writing it, too, it's definitely exciting! 2. Clementine - absolutely not a fan of the art...and most definitely not a fan of the word bubbles looking like ghosts/thoughts. Glad we have a new something TWD to be excited about but I think that the idea to market this to a middle school/early high school audience is off the mark (TWD World's Apart AMC show comes to mind and we all see how that's going). I mean, it's like writing the Punisher for middle schoolers. If anything, TWD has always flourished because of it's mature and graphic raw style...but to market TWD to younger readers? No idea how that's gonna work but we'll see. I'm hyped we have a new character like Clementine introduced into TWD universe but I'd love to see her make it in to the world we all know and are familiar with with the original series. What does everyone else think? I miss Adlard's art tremendously and I would LOVE to have a new TWD ongoing geared to a more mature audience as before but maybe I'm dreaming that that will ever happen. Either way, I'm looking forward to the next 3 issues of Skybound X and hope for more TWD comic book news to come down the road!
  5. Price drops all around for one and only time! PM me with any questions - these will be moving to feebay soon if no takers so speak now or forever hold your peace!
  6. Once again could we see a full scan of the slab(s) that is/are 9.8(s) but shows the damage (all 3 if you’re willing)? If so then we know it’s a qc problem. If not it’s hard to know for sure what the issue is (basically we need to see the book and the grade in one unedited or cropped scan clearly showing both the damage issue and the grade). We just need irrefutable proof, basically.
  7. Issue 2 dropped today!!! What did everyone think? 2 in and 3 to go! 8. Could you post full scans of the books (the ones with the zoomed in damage) so we can see the whole picture? Not questioning it, but it would be good to have on record (and you may have posted them on another thread IDK but damage like that makes the books non-9.8 which means QC was missing it entirely, ignoring it, or it became damaged in the case in transit a la SCS which may not be possible for some of those types of crunches). Either way, it hurts and I'm sorry to see that
  9. Got it - the reason I ask for pics is because I'd like to know if any of these crunches came back with higher grades. If not, the damage had to happen prior to encapsulation (which seems to be the debate at the moment). I don't want to see a 9.6/9.8 with a crunch like these...
  10. OP - could you post full scans (front and back) of a couple of your books showing the grades they received? Do you have any 9.6/9.8's with these crunches?
  11. I just dealt with this nonsense myself...I had to call an eBay rep and they didn't know, either. I figured it out myself by stumbling upon a small little red asterisk that I had never had to deal with before. SMH...ebay's trying to make things way more difficult. Comics already have a condition location - there is no need for an additional one at the top which will ultimately confuse some buyers.

  13. Tom knows how to grade his books for sure - these would be great for anyone looking for some 9.8 worthy slabbing copies!!!
  14. So Shawn...I've been itching to get you to do a Signature Series signing for something...could it be that there will be yellow label 9.8's of this coming down the pipeline maybe???
  15. While the OP didn't write WT or Exp on the box other posters in other threads on the boards HAVE and it's made no difference. When the site says 'opening boxes from the week of _______" who's to say they even look at packages that come today, for example, until they're on this week's pile months down the road. No need to shame the OP for something that shouldn't be an issue in the first place
  16. I only own 1 TWDD and it's a #1 Moore cover 9.9 (which I love btw). I can't justify an entire series of reprints just for color. It's a cool concept but we literally just finished the series not even 2 years ago so there was no need to re-run the entire thing just for color when we could instead have had an entirely new storyline (like Skybound X's mini with Clementine, for example) with new artist/writer...anything besides a series of reprints with multiple variants and printings. Like I said the color is cool but a TBP at 6 issues a piece would have fulfilled that need just as good. I'm all on the Skybound X train, though! And any other new series that is hopefully (praying at least) in the works!!!
  17. Greetings, everyone! I know that Tom & I can't be the only two who read this book today...so what did everyone else think? In this issue we get the official 1st appearance of Clementine! Loads of variant covers (my fav of which being the Adlard sketch cover)! Rick Grimes in the future a la Invincible style thanks to Ryan Ottley! Oh and Ultramega and Manifest Destiny, too! I'm a die hard dead-head so I get it for The Walking Dead content but still it was nice to have a new albeit brief Walking Dead storyline! The real question is...how many extra variants, second, third, & foil printings are we gonna get??? So let's discuss! @BladeTX @bigclutch @MrWalkingDead @StephenWA @ZombieVet @Crops068 @Dire Wolff - Ryan
  18. First off, I hate hearing this news...so by this do you mean it hasn't made it to CGC's headquarters yet and is lost in transit or still waiting to be 'checked in?' Their TAT's on walk-thru don't look that bad but they also wait to check in invoices and then start the countdown clock. I was thinking of submitting some express or walk-thru's but if they're taking weeks on those, too, let us know! Either way, good luck on your book!!!
  19. It hurts me to see this Definitely don't try to 'bop' it out - if you do that you could cause the inner pages to pull away from the cover/staple (top staple in particular). Like the poster above, I recommend returning it to the seller and have them send it to CGC for fixing. It's clearly wedged in the part of the case that should never have that happen. It's possible that a re-holder from CGC will fix the issue and the book could be unharmed but that's something you should have the seller do unless you want to assume the risk of it dropping a grade and send it in to CGC yourself. Good luck, whatever you decide and I'm sorry you're dealing with this! R PS - I don't think you can wedge anything in between the new style cases. What you read was most likely from the old cases as they had 'wiggle' room if the cases weren't completely sealed in the middle.
  20. No worries, I could have taken it outright so it's totally understandable. Not meaning to call you out, either...I just would have appreciated a reply is all. My apologies and thank you for your service in the healthcare field. Keep up the good work!
  21. I appreciate the non-reply to my PM - great communication!
  22. Hey Tom! I subbed some books back in the fall and they came back lightning fast - like 2-3 weeks from when I mailed them. I want to sub some more but seeing a 74 day fast track estimate makes me sad...
