You can get a refund on a movie ticket?!? I kind of figured that was a gamble, like buying fresh fruit or donating to Salvation Army Santa Claus.

Agree that cameo shouldn't be the term.
    Oxford for cameo
"a small character part in a play or movie, played by a distinguished actor or a celebrity."

The way cameo is viewed in entertainment is when it is someone recognizable.. Say when we see Stan Lee in all the Marvel movies. When it's a brand new characters first appearance it's not a cameo. Wolverine's appearance in IH 180 is his first appearance, it's not a cameo, Wolverine in IH 340, that's a cameo as the character is well established and popular at that point.
I wish cameo would go away.
Jimmy Olsen 134 is hard to explain though

My  is the hobby needs to drop the “rookie card” mentality. Comics are stories; sometimes an issue can represent 10 minutes in characters’ fictional world, sometimes days or years.
I’ll use Wolverine as my example: his first appearance is Hulk 180 through 182. Without all three, you don’t have his first full story. 181 is most valued as it’s the core chunk; 180 moreso than 182 as it’s the literal first time we lay eyes on the character in actual story content; 182 is still well more valuable than nearby run books for the title as it contains the last (albeit brief) part of Wolverine’s first story.
When you stop trying to identify the “rookie card” and think in terms of story content, it gets easier.
    I still can’t explain Jimmy Olsen 134.

Agreed. Either the character appeared...or they didn't. You either saw him for the first time in continuity/story...or you didn't.

As a kid I'd want to speed up time, who knew I'd get that power, it is just seemingly irreversible.
I still have things I'd like to speed up now, but rather than make a school day end, it is the wait until next paycheck to secure what I desire rather than see it sold out
you may need it after the above

I used to love going out and visiting people now I just want to stay home. It’s to cold, it’s to warm, my toe hurts, my hair hurts, maybe we should just reschedule.

Collect what you want and try not to let OCD get the best of you. If you really love the book and want both versions in higher grades, then go for it! But if it's just a nagging feeling that bothers you for some reason and isn't based on your actual collecting wants and what you enjoy, let it go. Don't let the hobby control you. You control it. So again, collect what you WANT. Don't let the idea of, "I have this so now I have to get that too" mindset infect your collecting. It sucks the fun out.

Very much a John Wick type hero. Good fights, good action. Unbelievable? Well, yeah but I enjoyed it. I enjoyed who he was killing, great antagonists.

I'm sorry for the confusion. They will continue to do nothing, and it will chisel away at their bottom line. Not overnight, but over time. You can't keep putting out poor product and survive, no matter how big the audience is. Yes, the sell lots of slabs. Yes, they make lots of money. But what isn't known is how many customers are lost to the cost of incompetence and shored up by the increase in pricing and expansion of services. Just because they made 20% more last year doesn't mean that they created 20% more customers.
They are too big to see how all the problem parts are eroding the brand philosophy as a whole. Sure, we're just a corner of the internet and no one watches YouTube videos - but that's for now. This level of gross negligence doesn't get better, it gets worse. I mean, this slab swapping issue is a perfect example. The problems CGC is having now are worse than the problem they had before this one. It will continue on in that fashion, each problem worse than the previous - because they never address it, because they care more about bonus checks, paid vacations, stock options, pleasing executives and Board members (not this Board) than they care about a graded comic book.

Normally, I would say that assumption is correct for most roadbumps a large corporation experiences.
However, I do not see CGC learning from this oversight, making the necessary sacrifices in order to remedy it and it will likely continue to happen because everyone there thinks it will just blow over. And, I don't blame CGC exclusively for that mentality - once you get that big in any company, it's not about the singular quality of your product anymore, now it's whether you can send out 100 mediocre slabs and only get 10 back. It's purely numbers, and while a lot of people think this isn't a big deal and will be forgotten - I disagree. This is a glaring example of another chink in the armor of CGC. It's not just because they've mishandled one of their most important products, it's that they simply continue to do so not really caring about the product they put out.

I think that's the point of the scam... If you're getting scammed YOU DID NOT buy the grade...

Why take possession of the slab?  You can see an image of it elsewhere.  For that matter, why even need to see the image of the specific book?  You know what the book looks like in general.
Let's day trade the grade instead.  And as long as we're doing that, options are reasonable as well -  puts and calls -  the right to buy or sell a particular grade of a particular book at a particular price.
Just like acorns embody the possibility of the oak tree, once slabs were created all of the above became possible outcomes as well.

    Grading has existed for decades.
As long as collectibles exist, concern on condition will exist.
This applies to comics, coins, toys, signs, t-shirts, cars, shoes…
Although this is a temporary issue for CGC, it will be dealt with, remedied, and largely forgotten.
The collectible market will continue and people will be concerned by condition.
So in conclusion, yes it does matter what the actual grade is, generally speaking. It might not matter to you.
