  1. I FINALLY finished reading 1-5. I'm anxious to see issue 6. But I'm leery of what it will be like after that. I'm not familiar with the new artist and his work. Has anyone see any previews of the artwork from 7 yet or another of the artists earlier works?
  2. Why do people dismiss later printings so quickly? Especially when the artwork is different?
  3. I was a superhero fanboy when I was younger. And both Spidey and Bats still hold a special place in my heart, but now days there is literally nothing for me at Marvel any more personally. I developed a love for Indy books in the 90's and that trend stuck with me to today. In its beginning I saw Image as the alternate mainstream. Now I see them as the mainstream for alternates. Image's publishing strategy changed years ago. They aren't trying to replace Marvel anymore. So many of these creator owned books would never have seen the light of day with the Indy publishers of the 90's.
  4. I know there was talk of a YTLM movie that seems to be stalled or dead. But Saga just seems like it is bound for the silver screen. That being said, Sandman still has a huge fan base. Not superhero not mainstream. But at the same time I do see your point as well. And sorry for the slight high jack here. Back to the main theme of this thread
  5. Ok, but look at the current demand for these books. How many of the current trend are selling out at the publisher? Then look at how many were possibly pulped for damage. Destroyed by general readers. If books like this one and Saga get such great reviews and fan responses now, that would lead one to think the desire for future collectors would be even greater. But that's the speculation game in a nutshell.
  6. Just think of what these modern comics are going to be worth is 15 years. Before the mid 2000's comics had print runs of 150,000 and plenty more. Most of your late silver and bronze key issues had print runs much higher than most of the books these days.
  7. Thanks and time will tell if I got a deal or set a presedent on the average starting price. I believe it will be about the average starting price for a raw. Judging by the price of the Batman 11 RRP when it came out. Of course I'm not sure what the starting g price for a raw Saga RRP was when it hit.
  8. I just secured an RRP for $100 with the provision that the final sale will depend on the condition of the book when it gets here.
  9. Bought some Sixth Gun issues from me. Thanks again!
  10. Thank you. and darnit, not a single page with Madder Red on it left. I should have known
  11. Thanks for the heads up... Jason who?
  12. I'm about to send Riley about 20 books to sign and hopefully get a couple of quick sketches on the backs of the Phantom 1 and 2 issues. I just sent him a msg to see if he had anymore artwork available from this series as well.
  13. I just finally pulled the trigger on an FP. But I doubt I see it for almost a month.
  14. You're welcome. I just require a 5% advertising fee
  15. I'm waiting to see the flood of Forbidden Planet variants here. I wasn't going to get one originally, but it's really grown on me.
  16. 100% agreed. It's on my recreation list.
  17. That was the cover I was hoping for to be the regular cover damnit. And the Forbidden Planet cover has grown on me sinceI finished the book
  18. Funny thing was, I returned to my main shop today at lunch. The owner started laughing as I walked around the counter. He then turned around and picked up a pile of extra copies he had behind the counter, I picked out 5 copies and he rang me up. Never once did I mention why I came back to his shop for a 2nd day in a row. It's sad that he knows my tastes and motivations that well. But then again I guess it's really a good thing too After the transaction was done, he just smiled as I told him I had learned my lesson with Saga when it comes to a really good book.
  19. So one of my LCS' has a habbit of marking up WD issues the Saturday morning after they are release to at least 2x cover price. They have already marked 108 up to $10 and only have 2 copies of it left where as they have plenty of 105 106 and 107... @ $6each Luckily I only go there when there is something like Sixth Gun that doesn't get a lot of orders and want more then my main shop ordered. Plus I picked up 10 copies of 108 for 15% off at my main shop. The most I've ever bought of a single issue so far.
  20. Ok so the owner of my LCS and I were having a discussion about print runs and shop orders for particular titles and issues. The topic of WD 100 came up. I knew that he had placed a large order in order to get several of the 1:200 books. Meanwhile he has been sitting on a sizable cache of the 8 covers. He told me today I could buy sets of 8 @ $1.50 per issue. So I'm wondering what the resale of these should be like down the road. Considering this issue was the modern day equivalent to Spider-Man #1 or X-Men #1 from the 90's.
  21. Some of the shops I went to today had at least 60 copies on the shelf.
  22. I was let down that the cover art was not the promo image. I really would have liked that for the cover.
