I will try to be more clear. If you want to make points about the details of the incidents themselves then knock yourself out. There is clearly a lot to unpack here. If you argue that CGC should have made a statements months ago (which was your specific point that I was refuting) then the logic does not follow. The case was filed yesterday, which you should know if you actually used the resources you say you have. If you continue to mix these two things together... well, Lets just say I truly hope your PACER account is not a professional one.

For the sake of avoiding derailing this thread I will give you the last word. Say whatever you want and I will not respond to it.

Your tried to be more clear and you have come up short.  Again.  Its so plainly obvious why CGC is acting in the manner it is at the moment, and why they acted in the manner they did in 2022 related to this issue. You keep pointing out that a lawsuit was filed yesterday, and that's super fantastic; I get that fact impresses you, and you were even able to find it on the internet.  Big win for you no doubt. What I have made very clear is that this lawsuit is the result of CGC not being able to be successful with Plan A (working it out privately), so filing a lawsuit (YESTERDAY) was a necessary evil:  someone in  house spilled the beans, so it had to be done for no other reason than to be able to say you did in the next lawsuit.

And you are not even close to derailing this thread; let's be real here, you haven't hit anything close to the bullseye yet with your comments.  But do yourself a favor and don't respond to this post, it will just be another swing and a miss.  In fact, do yourself a bigger favor and put me on ignore, I'll get by...somehow...someway. :banana::banana:

Maybe do some research before making a post like this. A total of 90 seconds with google led to me to find the actual case. If you look at the person who posted it all on Twitter he neglects to share when this case was brought forward - but FYI it was filed Jan 31 2024. That is yesterday.

Based on your post I am not sure if you would know this, but those launching court proceedings do not typically make statements months before those proceedings are set in motion. After the proceedings are in the books, if I was running a corporate entity like CGC I would try to contact those impacted by these thefts next. A statement to curious customers would happen but it would not be at the very front end of this process. But that is just me.

Yep, its absolutely just you.  Instead of using google like you are trying to figure out who Taylor Swift is dating, why don't you try using PACER, which is what we use to do actual research into these matters, and what I used to figure out how this matter actually made it to a federal court, and what is going to happen next, and then what is going to happen after that.  Google that, and if you need my credentials to log in, let me know.

In the meantime, please understand that if this investigation has been going on since 2022, the only reason - and I mean the singular reason - that this is news is because someone found out about it and it could no longer be contained in-house and managed without legal recourse.  Ask yourself this:  Is a company with revenues of what, 70 million a year, really going to hire lawyers and file a lawsuit to chase down 27 grand from two people that probably don't have a pot to in or a window to throw it out of?  No, of course not.  The legal fees alone will be double that by the time you start discovery. Half of nothing is nothing Stefan W.

So you see, the reason CGC is doing this is because they no what comes next, and they want to be able to mitigate everything to be able to argue that fact when it comes time to deal with damages in the real case - the case they will have to defend - when the claims start piling up, which I have already commented on in this thread.  And finally, part of the reason the only thing you are running is a lap around the living room to the fridge and back, and not CGC or a paper route for that matter, is because you can't see the forest through the trees on this one.

And that's okay, other folks are able to do just that.

  4. You show me one person that can demonstrate damages as a result of buying a fake-slabbed book for more than a buck, and I'll show you a bunch of complex litigation attorneys putting together a class action Petition against CGC chock full of claims related to implied warranty and lack of good faith performance causes of action.

CGC is going to get the brakes sued off of them.

For whatever reason to collect this and what I vaguely remember was the other Campbell or Michael Turner, they speak to a time when these were cheesecake covers

They will have collectors who remember them :) I'd like them, but I'm in the same boat that I'd get them only if convenient lol

It is why I posted to begin with, I sympathize, but they do really represent that time in comics. Today probably has the same thing going on somewhere, but I haven't bought many of them either.

I had a LCS try to tell me that "all Dave Stevens" are "big bucks", while I understand why they are, most recently they were found in the $1 bin: same kind of deal.

    Still fun :x

I will never quit buying Turner stuff.  He is the only comic book creator I have ever had a drink with, and I think about that 30 minutes all the time, like it happened yesterday: where we sat, what he drank, hell what game was on the TV behind the bar. Before CGC, but smack dab in the middle of that era that defined comics at the time. As regular as anyone you've ever sat down and had a drink with.

And I hear you man, there is nothing better than going to a show and finding a bunch of Turner stuff, Campbell stuff, Lady Death Chrome #1s, 90s stuff etc in the $2 boxes and KNOWING I hit the jackpot

    Given the very fluid and constantly new breaking events detailed in;

Those that paid 5k, 10k or more for any ASM 300 version may not have what they think they have :(

Coupled with the depressed Comic Book Market there is no sugar coating that its highly plausible ASM300 will drop below 2019 FMV's, perhaps even below 2017-18 levels. Especially 9.8's Newsstands + Mark Jewelers in 3rd (current) Gen slabs.

As of this writing no 2nd gen CGC slabs are known to be affected, however as mentioned the situation is highly fluid with more and more being uncovered every couple of hours.  It's possible when all is said and done only 1st gen slabs may be unaffected? Hope though is very much alive that ZERO evidence will be found for non 3rd gen slabs!

Given current events any residual Dopamine rush for Comic's like ASM 194,238,252,300 especially in 9.8 is now gone.

P.S. At least on ASM300, but not on Hulk 181 due to MVS, those in the "Buy the Book, Not the Label" crowd (like me) likely were not stung.

I get it that every fourth post in this thread is yours, but there are more interesting - and way more plausible - ways to bring a thread forward that is back on page 6 or seven, or whatever. 😂😂😂

Thank you for your response, and I have, and that actually got me thinking about the stories that were behind the squib descriptions on that site. I realize that the stories behind the pedigrees may not be an accessible -let alone a writable- topic, as these stories might have died with the folks that knew them.

  8. I have searched the boards, I have googled this thoroughly.  Is anyone aware of a book that discusses the history of the various pedigree collections? It seems the closest thing out there that I can find are the entries on Chucks mile high site, which are a fine read, but it’s limited and more just him patting himself on the back.

Anyone have any ideas out there?
