  1. I personally wouldn't bank on Venus sticking around long, or being used by other writers again prominently in the future. It will make for an interesting story but unless there is a twist about her (my guess below) that establishers her character, I see her more as a niche novelty call back that won't survive the arc. Her and Jennika are not comparable, as Jennika had dozens of issues to develop as a character before even becoming a turtle while Venus is just being dumped in as is here (with interest mainly just being that she is a weird reference to a very old awful idea) possible guess spoiler:
  2. and it was a great way for publishers to fill in the page count (either increasing it cheaply so the books seemed like a better deal compared to other comics, or account some other strips that had an odd number of pages or additional advertising they managed to get or loose)
  3. They clearly wanted us to feel is disorientated as Grant does when waking in a new situation, which I think they did very well - but just fyi, Moon Knight doesn't have Schizophrenia - it's Dissociative identity disorder (DID). In the past it was common to misdiagnose DID for Schizophrenia though when there was less understanding (as doctors would dismiss the identities as being delusions).
  4. Article has now updated with a very weird explanation from Disney: ...a software control issue? So somebody maybe accidentally uploaded a censored version of the show accidentally - but WHY did an entire new censored version of the show exist in the first place?!?! Did somebody accidentally pull some overtime accidentally digitally touching up several scenes and accidentally removing the violence?
  5. I think I saw that one - but 2k seems like a steal now when compared to this #65
  6. I could honestly see them doing this for shows that they did not develop but now own (I still wouldn't like it but would understand the reasoning), but this was a show they had full control of from day 1 and knew exactly what platform it was for and their audience and filters - it makes so little sense.
  7. So, serious question: How long do you think until Disney censors Moon Knight like they are doing with Falcon & The Winter Soldier right now (both shows were rated TV-14)? https://thedirect.com/article/disney-falcon-winter-soldier-censored-photos
  8. Little update, but say goodbye to the version of this show you remember watching: https://thedirect.com/article/disney-falcon-winter-soldier-censored-photos
  9. Good first episode, with decent pacing and time spent with the personas rather then getting right into the costume (I hope the next episode also features little of the actual MK persona as they explore Grants identities and as he learns about the entire situation he is in before really getting into the supernatural stuff). I think the only scene that felt off to me was the car chase escape. I understand it was meant to bring absurdity to the situation (which help Grant accept it really was all just a dream in retrospect) but it just felt like it undercut any sense of action or tension (especially the soundtrack - we get it, he's the 'insufficiently_thoughtful_person' that is out of his element, no need to go full Zoolander trying to spell it out for us)
  10. Oh you can be sure 56 is on my hunt list, it is one of two covers I'm missing from that run. I've only had one opportunity to buy it in the last five years when a torn up incomplete copy was listed on Ebay (missing many pages, detached covers and wraps, soiled, stained) and I lost the bidding on it when it obviously went higher than expected (of course today I regret not bidding much higher, by todays comic prices it feels like a steal). I've tried making offers to board members who I see own the book, but unless its super low grade then it automatically is outside my budget (The 3.0 that was sold last year was even out of my grasp when it sold for just under $7,000) Sigh. One day it shall be mine!
  11. Yup, this has been my mindset for years now as I try to grab as many as I can on my budget (at least the Doctor Fate ones, I've always loved those full helmet covers), but even before the movie / speculation craziness as of late it was still very hard to even find them. Might get lucky and have maybe one of the covers surface each year, and that's it - so whatever grade it was you had to fight for it.
  12. I think this gives us a good idea how dumb he is, clearly Ezra does not know how a karaoke bar works or what you should expect when visiting it.
  13. Damn, tonights auction had some strong prices for the raw More Fun Comics I was looking at. I know they are not epic stuff, but the trajectory of these prices compared to even last year is fun to watch.
  14. Normally I do not, in fact I have many pedigrees that will not be re-holdered. The reason this excites me is I had several raw file/checking copies from my favourite GA series (More Fun Comics and Adventure Comics) I collect that has given me the push to grade them, and since I want to make the most of shipping the other books I'm re-holdering are for a series I specifically collect Pedigree-Only copies (tales of suspense) for and every other issue I own for that are already the new gold labels (so made sense to upgrade the two that stuck out on display, especially since the label notes are woefully out of date for missing 1st appearances on them)
  15. CGC earned more money from me with this simple label update - just sent in a raw file copy I had, and while I was at it figured might as well relabel the old pedigrees I had sitting around (as well as submit a few more random stuff). Did it all for the shiny!
  16. oh man, I just read the spoilers outlining the biggest bait-and-switch issues with the movie. You almost have to laugh how much of a colossal stain of disappointment this movie is going to be to Spider-Man fans. Will slot this movie in for a proper cheap-drunk night film when I need something on in the background
  17. but seriously...there is no actual reason tied to anything quantifiable (such as production scarcity, error variants, warehouse finds, etc). I have yet to see anyone provide actual production numbers or ANY data for many of these high priced VHS that pass the sniff test and are not simply conjecture. It's often easy for one to fall into the trap of thinking a lack of data might suggest rarity (for example, it's easy to find the numbers for Temple of Doom VHS which was released in the same year as the Goonies VHS. Temple sold 1.4 million units that Christmas, so one might think Goonies wasn't picked up as much and thus it is now rare). Likewise I cannot find a hard date when the VHS went out of print (which is important) The only reason I can thus far sus out seems is general crazed nostalgic speculation by those driving the VHS craze. Remember it was only recently (2017) added to the National Film Registry for being “culturally, historically, or aesthetically significant” and the film’s overall tone and themes can be found in most of the recent 'hot' Hollywood properties, most notably in the likes of Stranger Things and the IT! remake, productions that have sparked the retro revolution and a fondness for all things 80s. Goonies is a movie that diehard fans might feel has been 'under appreciated' by the general public (in contrast to other very popular series like Star Wars or Back to the Future) and so both feels 'rare' by comparison and also ripe for a resurgence (especially once those young fans of Stranger Things and other 80s callbacks start to gain their own nostalgia and look back for other media).
  18. Yes, Seriously. Apparently people just don't get that this item is more than the sum of its parts. The realized price wasn't just because of it being a small chunk of Action #1 - the value is reflective of it now being an infamous art piece / meme online (much like the “Angry Girlfriend” variant of Amazing Spider-Man #14). This item, even being one of the most important comics books of all time, stands apart from other copies due to how much of a unique nonsensical curiosity it is. Welcome to the world of art dealers
  19. I really don't take any of the offers on comic connect seriously. It is far too easy to list an item for an insane price then have another account make an offer that you immediately just reject - which means the 'offer' price is then advertised right there for all to see which makes people think maybe THAT number is how much it's worth at the very least (spoiler: It's not). Until sales with prices like these actually occur via bidding in auctions and have a multiple similar data points for sales, then everything being listed seems totally inflated and artificial. This is one of the biggest collectible red flags I've ever seen in my life.
  20. Coverless I think that drawing on it really killed interest in it much more than we will ever comprehend, collectors can tolerate lots of defects but for a fan wanting a display piece having graffiti that makes fun of your favourite character is a huge turn off I see TOS39 coverless copies without drawing like this being at least $2,100-$2,500 right now depending on page quality on display.
  21. It really is the single best opening splash of all the major SA marvel key books. I bought one coverless copy but wish I jumped on them sooner as I wanted to get another one since I feel coverless copies of it (as well as single page splash) have so much room to grow (and make for some of the best display pieces ever)
  22. Finally watched the movie... ...and honestly wasn't a fan. It was filled with great performances (for the most part) and it was nice to see so many characters back (especially Sandman!) - but in the end came off like bloated forced fan-service that at times felt like a bit of a slog to get through even though it was peppered with many great memorable and touching moments (so could have easily cut at least 30 minutes out to tighten it up). Really not enjoying how 'magic' is now just basically the cause of and solution to any plot elements they want without having to explain or expand on it in a meaningful way - it can work, but in this -script felt like lazy crutch. Found the initial first two movies of the trilogy to have had better stories, editing, and pacing overall, with the first movie being a better Spider-Man story and the second being a better action/MCU movie (and both better regarding CGI, as this one might have more money pumped into it overall but it also had more moments that took me out of the experience due to what I can only charitably call Playstation-like visual cues. Far too much time spent in dark areas for the many battles as well). To be clear, it wasn't a bad movie and I can see why fans loved it (both those of the comics and those of only the MCU), just didn't resonate with me.
