  1. TBH, I do wish they would have recast him. It was the perfect time to do so, and he's never been a great at the role (often being the weakest thing about the movies). Love the character, but his MCU portrayal has been so very bland (would have loved Jensen Ackles in the role)
  2. Hey, I thought I closed my browser tab for eBay already cowboys342 really wants a sale!
  3. I would honestly say not always; i've seen some issues that were grades higher than others - but due to an off centre cover wrap, they were painful to look at and and first glance the lesser copies looked 'better'
  4. Entropy. It's easy for any comic to become lower grade (and my will do so in the years to come, even if it is just a slight tiny blemish), but it is next to impossible (barring re-grading and bumping it that way) for a non-restored book to become better condition and remain non-restored. The numbers of lower grade copies of any particular comic will always be increasing. That said, I prefer books that present well and actually aim for low/mid grade (3.5-5.0 is a sweet spot for me, as I like GA books that have a some nice patina to them) unless I find a nice raw copy which ends up grading high.
  5. Pedigree Label Option #4 Having a secondary color there (the pedigree name matching the gold designation at the top) makes it look much more elegant and diffrerenciats it from other mono-colored labels. Type choices also seem might tighter in this one.
  6. Dammit - I literally JUST bought a 1.5 copy of this for $300, and this one looks WAAYYYY better than it. Somebody buy this so I can pretend I just missed out on the sale and can deny having regrets!
  7. Yeah, the 'reinforced' is the biggie on that label as it hints that other work might have been done as well, and if it looks like others have missed that detail i'll tap out once the bidding gets bonkers
  8. So are you gonna be one of the people i'm going to be bidding against for one of my favourite covers I have yet to own? Imma gonna fight you!
  9. That is very crazy - i'm am sure there are going to be a bunch of people who will use that label to help sell their restored books. To be honest i'm actually considering doing this for one of my X-Men books just to have it match the other blue labels in the display, but I was under the impression those labels were ONLY offered to Universal grades.
  10. Necroing this thread, cause i'm looking for recommendations for artists that would be good with doing Golden Age style art for a cover recreation I want done. Pro or amateur, i'm open to hire either so long as they can draw something that looks like early Mystic Comics cover art
  11. Further more, I guess you could also label Mystic Comics #5 as a 'Hitler appearance' issue, but that could be debated as the Nazi's only refer to him in story as 'the Leader' and he is isn't shown from the front (and covers his mustache when running away sobbing). What isn't up for debate is that the Blazing Skull made fun of Hitler so much that it made him run away crying - seriously, that is how he deals with Hitler. So maybe it deserves the unique label note of 'Crying Hitler appearance'
  12. Once again, found a very odd Golden Age label issue. Mystic Comics #5 features the first appearance of several characters, and is currently labeled as: "Origin of Black Marvel., 1st appearance of the Terror., Full page ad for Captain America #1" It should be expanded to say "1st appearance and origin of Black Marvel, 1st appearance of the Terror, Moon-Man, and the Blazing Skull. Full page ad for Captain America #1" While I could understand forgetting to include Moon-Man (seriously, he's a joke and this was his only appearance until briefly being mentioned in the 2011 Marvel series 'All-Winners Squad'), there is zero excuse to forget the legendary Blazing Skull - who would appear in future Mystic Comic issues, as well as be featured in Marvel's modern Invaders team. I feel it is a legit criminal offense to forget to mention ANY golden age skull - be it skull cover, or skull character
  13. Great looking copy - so much so that it's for sure more than I think I could afford (unless its missing a bunch of pages )
  14. Oh man, for some reason I didn't see this thread. I'm so jumping in! Dr.Fate covers are easily my favourite GA superhero covers. I'll happily pick up any extra copies of #61 when I can, and don't see me stopping at two copies - those colors are just perfect. Would love to own a copy of #55 one day (or #56! so beautiful), so if anyone has a super low grade one of those hit me up (I have lots of GA goodies that I could trade towards it)
  15. Can't wait to see this, though unfortunately it's only playing at one venue in the city so there are very limited showtimes for me to try to work around my schedule
  16. Well, it has her pets in it and Margot Robbie sounds more like Harley, so that's something...but i'll wait until actually seeing the Birds of Prey in a trailer before passing judgement.
  17. Tell you what i'll trade them all for a single comic that has a combined Gerber rating of all those....so...12? But i'll give you a deal....i'll do it for a Gerber 11
  18. Thank you so much! I'm actually surprised as out of all those issues, I thought the World's of Fear was going to be higher, as I constantly hear about it being rare/scarce. Chamber of Chills makes sense, as I assume the only reason we don't see it much for sale is that everyone who has one wants to keep it forever and so they are all locked away in collections.
  19. Was flipping through a few of my books my brain reminded me that More Fun Comics #70 was a Gerber 6 in scarcity, and with that memory I realized that was the ONLY book of mine that I actually knew the gerber number for (and only because of an ebay listings title). I tried to find a few others online, but it seems the main resources that had numbers online doesn't exist anymore. While I shall take the plunge and buy a copy of the Gerber Photo-Journal Guide at the next con I can hit up, I was hoping someone here could satisfy my curiosity right now about a few issues I have. Chamber of Chills #23 The Thing #15 World's of Fear #3 More Fun Comics #61 Adventure Comics #60 Adventure Comics #79 Unknown World #1 The rest of my collection i'll save as a surprise for when I pick up a copy of the book
  20. From grade 7 until the end of high school in the 90's I focused on my favorite character, Iron Man. Was able to complete the first three volumes of his book then (often picking up what I could in low grade just to have a copy) as well as most of his Tales of Suspense issues (Snagged #39 off ebay for $100). The last issue I actually bought for that entire run turned out to be #55, and only because I thought I already owned it (and it turned out I did, but that copy was misfiled with other books). At the same time my best friend did the same for Spider-Man. edit: more details, the first Iron Man comic I remember reading was #200 which a kid brought to school in maybe grade 2, but it wasn't until I read #253 at a friends house that I decided to keep reading, and then fell in love with the Armor Wars 2 story line (but would be another few years until I would try to collect all Iron Man issues, which would take years due to my small allowance and only pick up once I got my first job - Tales of Suspense #39 was one of my first major purchases then, after spending my first pay check at a local VHS store on movies of course). Technically though the first 'run' I completed could be the small 3 issue series from DC "The Psycho" - now THAT series made me love all comics.
  21. Let's start the price cuts, perhaps one a day until it's sold!! i'm looking to sell this sucker - so hit me up with offers, or risk waiting for another price drop
  22. Legal boring stuff first before getting to another saucy Golden Age sale by your favourite sauce dog Please no hall of shamers or probies. I ship anywhere in North America, and I only accept Pay Pal. No returns on slabbed books. All prices are in USD. Shipping from Toronto, Canada. Add $13 for shipping within Canada, and $20 for shipping to the USA. Can meet up if you are local to the GTA. First timestamped gets it over any in progress PM discussions. While I ponder which other Golden Age goodies I shall be putting up for sale (Chamber of Chills #23 maybe? Anyone want that issue? ) I figure I would put one up to be somewhat productive. Amazing Mysteries #32 (1949) CGC 4.5 - OFF-WHITE TO WHITE PAGES 1st issue. Formerly Sub-Mariner Comics. The Witness appearance. 1st Marvel horror comic. Seems it's a little more difficult to find this one in grades over 3.0 for some reason, and also with page quality better than Cream to Off-White. Lucky you, here's your chance Pulled for another local board member - thanks for the interest all!
