A year is no bueno, but at least be thankful they have the right labels and weren't destroyed in the grading/encapsulation process. I'm not sending any of my GA stuff in until something changes; way too risky, IMO, for books you see only a couple times a year.

Here is my other sericel from that buyer, which was my first purchase (of two). I liked this one a lot, especially the deep colors, which led me to a second. However, I feel the second one (Snake-Woman) is not as detailed or vibrant; it could be due to the differences in images and colors; or manufactured differently. I don’t know. Another reason I won’t spend over opening bid on any of these. And here is part of the product with a 2022 date. I call it a product as it's three or so different pieces: sericel, on a board, the painted board, and then a final board. It could be these are truly warehouse images from the 90s and shipped or presented on current backer boards… again I don’t know.

Here is one of my purchases showing the final product, compared to the size of a comic, and the pieces which it is made of. This one did not have any dates on it. I will get pictures of the other one tomorrow.

Their auctions always have the back story that these cels were prototypes for a GA-comics-themed retail product in 1999 that never got off the ground. I must admit, I would like to see what they look like in hand. Agreed; I've asked questions to figure out how limited these actually are (or aren't) and never received a real answer. I have a couple (one has a 2020 backing board on it so there's that), and they are nice to complement my GA copies, but I treat them just as a produced item from a store. I'm not paying over the starting bid (usually $25) as I'm assuming they can continue to churn them out. I see some of these go for multiple hundreds and am shocked.

FYI - for those possibly bidding on the CSS 22 on eBay, it has four staples and isn’t mentioned in the description. Don’t know if manufactured like that or added after. Also don’t know where the other two come into play; I see two on the front cover, four at the centerfold, none on the back cover, and nothing noticeable on the spine.

I don't suppose anyone remembers the condition of this comic (Everquest Online: Darkpaw) which sold in April for ~ $1700? Unfortunately there is no grade given in the ebay title and only the front cover picture is available.

Wow; I wonder how many people noticed that -- most likely not any phone bidders -- that's why you have to go in person (as well as to check to see if the back cover is there or not). I also wonder if the winner has been notified, since it's 3 hours past the cut-off...

Definitely not the way to ship comics, and I feel bad he has to now go through the hassle of sending back to CGC, waiting to fix, and then shipping it back. Though some of my empathy goes away due to the 7 min video for a 1 min problem, complete with "I'M SO MAD" thumbnail.

Agreed; it's a bidding approach to reach the highest possible amount (if the right people show up) and also stick the highest bidder at his/her max instead of 1 increment over the next highest bid. 2 people bid on Comic X. Bidder 1 really wants it and bids $500; Bidder 2 just wanted to throw a bid in and bids $10. Instead of Bidder 1 winning the comic around $15, now he's paying $500. However, you never know what will happen -- especially as they are closing the bids at 2pm on a Friday; maybe not a lot of people will remember or get bids in. If it's not far from you, and you can inspect the comics in person (like the back covers, rust, page count -- as I'm assuming the seller will not do this or let anyone know if something is wrong), it's worth a shot. Some of these books may never pop up in your area again for years.

This is completely baffling. Though a separate issue from QC, based on recent output and replies to the output, I am very concerned about how my missing UPS package will be handled (and it hasn't been handled great to this point).

So you are the one.... I saw it and liked it, but the price (even though very reasonable, esp now) I couldn't swing. Unfortunately, the GA comic prices on my Must Have List continue to outpace my buying funds.

Definitely. But it's much easier to track the flippers in GA due to the limited supply. It's usually only a couple internet hops from a For Sale post to the exact auction they bought it from a week earlier, with the juice, of course.

I think I would find that “hucksterism” depressing, and this is a good reminder why I avoid IG While it may pay off in some sales for the IG account, it leads me to specifically avoid buying from them -- on IG or at shows. However, I am but a small fish.

I saw that as well. Seems like a better deal than the Conserved one -- if you have that type of money, of course. I do love, however, the common IG theme of "OMG guys, I just got my most prized grail comic ever! I've been waiting my lifetime to get a copy. Let me make a video and talk about the hotness and get those likes and comments." Cut to 2 days later: Grail is for sale, with a price bump, of course. And this is not just the little guys, either.

Found it; here's a CGC 5.0 with 3 punched holes, albeit they are smaller holes. And no notation on the label, of course, for the collectors!

There was a graded GA book I was tracking a while ago... let me see if I can find it...where the grade surprised me.

No one said the books have to have “some” value. Not sure why that’s even an issue you’d bring up. Have you read through this thread? You might want to. Many rare comics that are found in dollar boxes actually sell very high if no one can find them and need a copy for their collection. I said that was my interpretation. So I guess I said it, but maybe no one else did, but that's, like, my interpretation, dude, as I stated earlier. No kidding; have you read through this thread? Go back and look at my posts in here and what I found. I said, it was my opinion a book should have a decent value, but that is my opinion only (and there are really no rules, anyway; post what you want).

I mean if we're going to open up GPA data and flag anything that looks weird or possible incorrect, we'll be here for a while. People need to understand what GPA is and what GPA isn't (and where/who the data comes from and where/who it doesn't come from), As Conan said I'm sure if the sale popped into GPA in November with a May sold date people would be asking questions then as well.
