This may be the most level-headed thing you have ever posted. Quoting for posterity (and in case you go back in and edit it again [and again]).

@CGC Mike - if, when observed, they looked at the front and back for several seconds, how does the above happen?

From seeing submissions where the label is not even close to the comic inside, I believe QC (if there is such a step in the process at all) looks at the comics in the shipping box (i.e. top edge only), makes sure the count is right and (generally) the titles match the submission sheet, and that's it.

In my eyes the sore thumb is the time between sale and return. At what point is a sale "complete"? Per eBay's rules (where the book was bought) it's 30 days and the buyer is beyond that timeframe. "Reputable" dealer or not there comes a time when enough time has passed and it's time for both parties to move on. Depending on each individual's point of view, 60 days is either enough time or not enough time. I'm surprised eBay is doing anything in this case as the return window has closed.

Yep, same issue. Just a warning to everyone. Don’t pay $185. Each for one of these right now. I don’t know how many copies came out of this load but I think it was quite a few… Sorry, I meant were the copies in the ebay sale potentially the same exact ones from this latest warehouse find? Seller is in CA and has four copies pop up; but I don't know the timing of the find and the condition (i.e. the warehouse ones may be in much better condition). Seller also sold 17 copies of Air Pirate Funnies; perhaps another find or likes to sell in groups.

I get what you are saying, but again you now know all of this before you submit your books to CGC so you as the customer or dealer are agreeing to these company guidelines beforehand. Personally I think 14-days is beyond reasonable, and that is their right as a company to set forth those return guidelines. So either you can accept them or take your business elsewhere. Should a eBay customer have the option to return CGC book for buyers remorse after 14 days? I had a guy last month return a book 13 days after receiving it in the mail. They said they just didnt want it anymore. I mean I think that is unreasonable for any seller to have to take a collectible that for that reason, no? Agreed on knowing the facts going in; I wouldn't even call my submission volume a drop in the bucket, but whatever it was it has completely dried up (mainly due to CGC mangling comics). I also understand no amount of belly-aching on this board is going to change anything, in regards to pricing or MEs or timeframes. Any return policy can be exploited, for any timeframe. Your example with an eBay customer, however, is different as (I'm assuming) you provided exactly what the customer purchased and now have to eat a return. In many (not all) cases CGC is not providing what the customer paid for and is making the customer pay again to make it right (and even getting it right the second time is a cra-shoot).

The vast majority of people are usually anxious with excitement to get their books back. Yes, a percentage are "anxious with excitement" to get their books. That doesn't necessarily mean they can easily access the books; see my examples above. Also, your experience is not everyone's experience. So you are telling me only a small percentage of people would take advantage of a 30-day window? Now throwing insults at me I think is unwarranted for a reasonable conversation no? Of course none of us have hard numbers here, but I would say the same percentage (or relatively similar numbers) who would take advantage of a 30-day window would also take advantage of a 14-day window. In either case you are arguing for a customer, anxious with excitement to get his/her books books, knowingly lying and damaging his/her own books (or cases) as opposed to the company itself doing what it is paid to do.

So you'd rather jump to fraud and lying on an imaginary submitter than hold the original company responsible for their own product and their own QC department? Even with a 14-day window the same lying and fraud can happen; give me a break. For someone with a well-documented symbiotic relationship with CGC it shouldn't come as a surprise the ways you continue to contort yourself to accept whatever CGC feeds you.

That's because submitting to CGC and opening CGC boxes (and subsequently selling CGC slabs) is your job, or at least a very sizeable portion of income. For, I would think, the majority of submitters, it is a hobby and rushing to get the box (maybe no one was home and it's at the PO or an off-site UPS office or through a comic shop), opening the box, and closely inspecting every book is not at the top of their list.

I have a 7.5 as well so I looked up this sale. In this instance the $5280 does include the Buyer's Premium (but not tax and shipping, etc)...

comictraders1 just got me. I see he/she is already on the overall list but was not on mine. No excuses (which I guess is good?) just a terse: "Sorry but I need to cancel this". It was an auction and the bids were put in hours before it ended.

Wall book prices these days -- from coast to coast -- are...aggressive.

Anyone have details on this comic? MCS has a 1 and 24 listed but nothing in-between. GCD doesn’t have anything for this title.

If it wasn't so sad it would be hilarious. At this point we can no longer chalk these types of errors up to "not familiar with comics"; these are "not familiar with reading" or "not familiar with understanding QC".
