  1. Yep; XM #4 is plentiful. Though we've all said this before, there is more than enough supply to meet demand, creating a ceiling no matter what happens/doesn't happen with Omega Red. With that issue it's difficult to tell how many listings are actually for *that* X-Men #4, but if the number of open listings ever goes below 200 I'll be shocked.
  2. I like Cole, and the fish-in-the-face covers are an interesting niche, but this price is wow. 2 bidders *really* wanted it (and wanted it a lot more than I did). Criminals on the Run v4 #7
  3. They were selling for more than $15 i think sold most of mine for $40 and the graded ones sold for $150 When was this? I remember adding a few copies to my pre-screen submission to bump it to 25 comics; back then a 9.8 was around $125.
  4. Will you sell this time around are you going to wait again This issue was a childhood favorite and I would buy whenever I found them for $5 or less. So selling for $15 wasn’t worth it. However, $50 is a different matter and I am mentally prepared to release these 90’s gems back into the wild. Probably keep one newsstand and one direct.
  5. Go go go. I’ve been playing the long game on this for a decade. And none of this X-Men 1 nonsense, @jsilverjanet
  6. Were you not being patriotic for those three quarters?
  7. If you only want -- or it's only worthwhile -- for the books to be graded as 9.8, send them pre-screen, no matter if you decide to have them pressed or not.
  8. I know that is the case (pre-show buys) at Wolff's as it's more of a free-for-all, but I thought Kane was more subdued. Even when they have the Toy show I still find pretty good stuff. I wonder if we've crossed paths before -- friendly, of course. Too old and too many kids to be allowed out at 3am to potentially find a comic I want.
  9. I too enjoy the candy guy; usually has a good price on trail mix and such. I was wondering when Kane would open back up. Do you have regular comic guys you hit up? I remember only a couple.
  10. I'm going through this currently, since IL has a lower threshold in effect for this year's taxes (2020 sales). I will let everyone know how painful/less it is. Definitely using an Accountant this go-round and not winging it. Some good questions in here, such as the time between buying a selling a comic and its impact to taxes. Can I now add in packing supplies against the bottom line? Paper and ink for shipping labels, etc? Additionally, if I did have a receipt for every comic (going back 10+ years or more), brick and mortar stores who give receipts don't usually specify at that level, it just says "Back Issue: $5". If they don't have to itemize when selling the item, and they are a full-time business, do I have to when I am buying? Perhaps it's a different tier of business versus part-time, or they are allowed to do that; I don't know, and it's all just a pain to think through. Hopefully not a pain (mentally or the wallet) to file.
  11. There's a *second* TopCity issue regarding trades? What page does that start on? I thought it was about a returned check.
  12. Was the banned store the same one which attempted to order 75 or so copies?
  13. i find it mind boggling that dealers at a local show are unloading decent stuff at $1 a pop in this ebay climate. apparently some west coast avengers book is getting hot because of falcon winter soldier. i know i have at least 3 copies. in the back of my garage where my "yardsale" comics are sitting because i considered bringing them back into the house a couple of months ago. unfortunately, i have since piled so much junk in my garage since then (basically everything in my yard to avoid it getting covered in snow) it will take me an hour to get to them. are 3 $15 books worth it? will the book still be hot when I have to get that stuff out into the backyard in a month anyway? I may be reading this wrong, but it sounds like you also had decent stuff (i.e. the West Coast Avengers issues) in your yardsale (discount) bins as well.
  14. If I’m following along correctly, the not-first print will be available to read.....forever Yes, but why limit any print if it’s all about the readers? Why allocate and then have enough copies of something “similar” on the first day which you know is not the same thing. They had rules and seems like they found their own loopholes to aide a select few.
  15. Let’s say that is true (a specific print number not to be exceeded). Why would a publisher do that? Especially one for the readers?
  16. Wasn’t the point of this publisher to get comics in the hands of “real” fans and not exploitation via the secondary market? Seems their bizarre rules and printing techniques did just the opposite...
  17. What I try to remember in these cases -- as one usually forgets the comics which tanked after selling -- is as long as you sold for the market value at the time, you did fine.
