  1. Nope. And ftr jimmi linguini is automatically included if such a thing manifests... How could there even be a hot speculation pm or thread without that guy?
  2. Before any more panties get in a twist, ftr I've gotten like 1000pms about 'the secret pm'. My prior comments, as many of mine typically are, were meant to be provocative, funny and at the same time inquisitive. Since this thread has shriveled up lately and there were prior rumblings of an exodus to pm... I thought there might be some veracity to the secret society. To date I have no knowledge of such a pm list or secret pms. That said I don't think it's a bad idea to cobble together our hot tips as one and might even spearhead the development of one....with help from the folks that want to chip in. Doesn't mean I'd abandon this thread bc let's face it, like it or not this thread can drive the market. If you doubt that, just take a closer look back at pricing on the bay for any of the hotness and compare it to the almost clairvoyant Nostradamus like posts some folks have dropped in the moderns prior to that heat. It's not the be all end all, but to not see the connection you'd have to be Helen Keller. So ill be postin but we may have to get our recon in a few weeks early via speculatey secret pm eventually just to maintain the status quo. The lurkers are pickin the moderns so hard I had to set up a pull list to even score reader copies. This thread caused that perfect storm.
  3. Will the numbered but unsigned ones get Blue labels from the CGC or is it gonna be green label city?
  4. Yeah, apparently Jimmi L. said he grabbed a clutch of the variants without numbers..... He's holdin' onto those like his family jewels tho.....
  5. Jimmi, I get it bro. And I want to get back to heatin up...not jawing. I was also serious about a pull list....you actually did convince me....not jerking you around. I just don't see the sense in leaving unsold stuff on the shelves.....my only point that's off normal topic.
  6. I know when pasta boy starts busting CAPS out it's time to get serious... Alright bro, you convinced me....I'll get a pull list goin. That said: there was a time in the past when you could walk into a joint and buy whatever without getting scoped or hassled....can't I lament those days and the loss? Someone asked if I was generalizing or specifying my experience with 1 shop: my experience is with three shops locally. Two changed their tune within the last few months....the other never has alot of stock. So I get it with the low stock joint. The other two honestly are going to have issues sitting on the racks for months without selling them for some fuct up policy. I'll keep visiting those same rags and they'll go from a 9.8 to a 9.6 to a 9.4 to a 9.2 and so on until they're all doomed to a dusty longbox with giant creases and rips. Or I could buy them before some kid wipes his sack with them......if I owned a store it'd be a no brainer. But pull lists solve that sort of issue I guess. There certainly won't be some comics sitting in limbo for no reason once I get my list.....in fact next time I walk in the racks should be empty of all stock since I'm going with the herd mentality.
  7. I ain't no flipper....but my roosta is bro! Don't be hatin.... He paid for those dope new rainbow sneakers with his PP raw sales!
  8. My LCS shops are turning evil only within the last few months.... They're starting to strictly enforce a maximum of 1 comic per issue and it's all on the heels of heavy speculation. These are the same guys that say they don't have something only to end up listing it on the bay within a few hours of said inquiry. I know for a fact they're clued into the boards (not only this one) and they've actively tried to solicit info. from me. I don't go in talking a big game either, I just grab and walk with no discussions. They've put 2 and 2 together with other speculators coming in for sure....and now they're starting to put the clamps down on anything hot. They used to be cool, now I gotta find a new place to shop. Any time you folks wanna get a PM together I'm down. It's becoming next to impossible to keep a lock on info. with the speculators competing directly with the LCS. Peter Panzerfaust....try to find an issue on release day... Helheim....poof...gone like a f*ckin puff of smoke Nowhere men.....nowhere to be found.... Robin's dead? You'd never know the way these aholes pull it off the shelf and hoard it. I'm sorry, but if you have a comic store....and you're in the business of selling comics....put them on your racks and sell them. Don't and moan that other industrious folks are following the trends and taking advantage of the secondary market. Just MHO. Hell, it's not even cool to grab stuff on release day and mark it the F up like 3x coverprice......how about they order more and sell them for what they should sell for on day 1?
  9. I'd always sell upon finding a suitable upgrade.....other than that....mine is on lockdown as well.
  10. How's the regular Helheim cover doing....and how's the rebooted X-men #1 doing pricewise? Already know about the variants, just curious about the regular covers.

  12. Today when I went into the LCS I've been hitting for years.....they told me there's a 1 comic limit for any issue. This happened only after I walked up with 3 copies of Helheim. Keep in mind that I've been there on and off for over a decade and change....and each time I go in I purchase about 2-3 copies of everything I collect. I've never been told there was any limitation....I wanted 3 copies....2 for me......1 for a friend. My take: the last few months speculators have gotten this store's radar buzzing about Panzerfaust, Sixth Gun, Helheim, etc.... Now they're giving me the stiff-arm on comics. D*CKBAGS.... I told the "manager" that if he wasn't interested in selling me the comics that I'd take my business elsewhere. Furthermore that usually I come back and see the same tired issues on the racks weeks later...only they're more beat up than a hooker at mardi gras. If you're in the business of selling comics, sell them.....don't hold back stock for others. If they're on a pull-list that's awesome, but if it's on the racks it's fair game. Tired of these aholes making up sh*t.
  13. Don't do that bro.....don't bother grabbing any of those bronze age issues unless they're in the 9.8 range and slabbed. That is unless you're going to turn around and sell them as VFs raw later on as the new X-men movie approaches. If you've got a high graded slab however, the prices will increase notably circa the same time. Besides, there are so many high grade bronze raws and slabs out there that VFs won't be really sought after. There's always a market for 9.8s.
  14. Correct, here will be no further variants for #1. If we go to another printing on issue one, it will likely be an Image Firsts version, and that will just be the regular cover with the Image Firsts trade dress at $1. And as I've noted before, there will be no convention or retailer exclusives for anything past issue one. -e.s. Eric Stephenson Publisher Image Comics, Inc. www.imagecomics.com So what if we locked you up in a room and plied you with liquor and fast women? Could we get another special edition #1 variant then?
  15. We can agree to disagree. One of my original points was that it's going to be fairly hard to get less than a 9.6 if you've got your eyes peeled for deals. Nothing is guaranteed, but with a pair of good eyes and an adequate return policy as you indicated there should be little or no difficulty in obtaining said 9.6. If you got stuck with a 9.4 that would not be the same situation of course.
  16. How is gambling on a raw eBay book being 9.6 any different than gambling on a slabbed 9.6 going up in value? Hmmm.....that's not the argument. Both are not guaranteed to go up in value. BUT if you could purchase a 9.6 raw at 200-300, then slab it and sell it for what the slabbed 9.6 currently is going for, you'd make a coupla bucks. If you bought a slab for top dollar and then attempted to make additional $ you'd be less certain of accomplishing that. So to be clear it's all speculation, but buying a raw, slabbing and selling for what slabs are already going for is not as speculatey (< We're not debating if it's a speculation, we're debating what is more speculative.
  17. You didn't need to read that long diatribe....here's the distilled question: If you're a speculator....and you know it doesn't take much to get a 9.6 in a slab....why pay top dollar for the same finished product with no guarantees of profitability.....when you could easily make the same product for alot less? I guess buying a slab would make alot more sense to me if it were a 9.9 or a 9.8: simply because those PP#1s are harder to obtain.
  18. If something's not interesting to you, then I think the thing to do would be check out the next post underneath it....or goto the next page. Since this is the heating up thread, I'll continue to drop any news that involves heat I'm aware of. That 9.6 was so hot you'd burn your just looking at the auction. As far as speculators selling to speculators....I've been around the block enough to know it doesn't mean diddly. If speculators want to buy the book, they're certainly entitled to it. That said, you really think speculators were pushing the 9.6 up and out the chimmney like that? I'd think they'd be smart enough to buy almost any other PP raw and submit it.....you're pretty much guaranteed to get a 9.4 unless you ate the comic and digested it first. 9.6 is a no brainer if there's some minor flaws....so there are probably at least 2000 of those sitting around somewhere. You can still get raw runs for around 400....why not get a few extra comics that are submittable? Hmmmmm....buy a PP raw or grab a slab? http://www.ebay.com/itm/281073911949?ssPageName=STRK:MEWAX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1423.l2649 Like that one above....still in affordable country.....even if you grabbed it for $300....and submitted it....it'd be a 9.6 lock with a $100 profit if the market holds? So I ask again, why would TRUE speculators bother with a contest?
  19. What's with all the extreme hate over PP? I'm not sure I'd be all upset if I had a stack of 9.6s or 9.8s right now.... Seems like the same broken record over and over again: "it's not worth that", "it's garbage", "it's all hype", "I don't like the art", yada...yada.....blah..blah. This is a thread about things heating up, not the I don't dig it so I'll on it thread. Just me going out on a limb, but folks that missed the boat seem to be piling up the sour grapes. Can someone explain to me in simple terms why a comic that has been rock steady for months with nothing but increasing sales is such a "waste"?
  20. WOW! And for a 9.6 at that!!! http://www.ebay.com/itm/151004446334?ssPageName=STRK:MEWAX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1423.l2649 Guess all bets are off when sale $ are this unprecedented..... That last recorded GPA 9.6 at $350 is most likely responsible.
  21. I could see them going for tree fiddy!!!!
