  1. Any heat on the PP #1 9.6 slabs? I haven't been following anything except the 9.8s.
  2. Did you read any of the background on those comics? Pretty dark stuff: Supes kills Lois Lane and his unborn kid after being drugged by the Joker....he's convinced she's Doomsday.....pretty nuts....and that's the jump off for the video game. I gotta say, I typically agree that video game comics blow.....but this entire premise and backstory seem a bit different...with larger ramifications for the DC universe titles. I thought in the game that Joker levels Metropolis with a nuke, killing Lois and their son unborn son, and then Supes kills Joker. Is the comic plot completely different? If Supes kills Lois in the comic, I'm going to pick one up today and read it! Didn't read the comic, but was looking at trailers for the game and a behind the scenes with the writers of the comic. Apparently one of the writers is really a huge vocal proponent about violence against women. He didn't want Lois to get hit or killed in some uber violent way (I recall him saying his mother was a victim so it really hit home for him). Anyway, when the approached him to do the comic, he had to have them retool the way Lois bought the big one. He arranged there to be some sort of incident in space where a hole was blown out of spaceship or whatever.....maybe an airlock....and Supes being all drugged thinks Lois is Doomsday.....he pushes her outside into space....and apparently she dies that way. Not sure if that's congruent with the game storyline...but Joker apparently does nuke Metropolis which is left in ruins from the few panels I saw online. Bats has Joker by the neck and is asking him why he bothered to blow up Metropolis and take Lois away from Supes. Joker says something about it being easy....like taking candy from a baby....etc. So that's the scoop I know. It was compelling enough that I'll probably grab an issue or two at the LCS. There may be some heat as the game hits the market...I know I'll be grabbing the game for sure. Looks like Mortal Kombat but with DC characters....saw a face off of Solomon Grundy vs. GL.....pretty cool.....love those types of games.

  4. Yes. http://www.barnabashealth.org/hospitals/hospice/comic/#donate (thumbs u Makes me proud to work there! Been trying to find time to volunteer.....usually the sorting happens on the weekends...that time is often spoken for way in advance between work, the gal, other domestic stuff and such. Oh well, until I can clear up time at least I can contribute by donating some comics to the cause.....helps me, helps others....win/win both ways! BTW: You guys/gals are doing great work....pretty creative outlet for a really underserved population in grave need of assistance. Whoever thought that up, and whoever provides the legwork certainly deserve some kudos.

  6. If it did, I'd SH*T a brick! TV Show or not...that's not a $10 comic... BUT it appears it was either relisted or another just like it was by the same seller...bidding is already up at 100+ with 5 bidders: http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=370772490319
  7. Aha...see it now...the vertical one....looks like it could be pressed right the F-out! Easy 9.8 with prep......9.9 anyone? Bueller....Bueller?
  8. So help me check this over folks: This is an auction on MCS for 1CP NWM #1 9.6 and it states "This issue is in beautiful shape with only a printing indentation on the front cover." I've checked out the scans and I'm not sure I see what they're talking about, I see no indentation...looks totally mint to my noobie eyes: http://www.mycomicshop.com/search?ItemID=24151757
  9. Donate them to charity. Regarding the above statements . If anyone is interested in actually donating any of their comics to charity, I am aware of one that in fact does specifically accept comics (that's mainly what they are looking for, but will accept action figures and other collectibles of that sort as well) as charitable donations and they will issue you a tax deductible certificate for the Overstreet value of your comics. They have some sort of grading process to determine value, but my take is that you're gonna get a better subjective grade from this charity. You may get a "good" out of a "fair" or a "very fine" out of a "fine" etc. They guy that runs the outfit is not a professional grader and would probably just list it as whatever you said the grade was (unless it looks like you pulled it out of your sphincter and said it was a gem mint or something! ROFL!) This is not the place to attempt to get GPA $, but let's say hypothetically you've got some old comics that you really aren't going to be able to sell for Overstreet or better....or in some cases they're going for way under Overstreet....this place is great for a tax deduction. It's essentially the same thing as selling your unsellables easily without a hassle and you're helping out folks that are in a bad way. I've got boxes of old but not really sellable stuff I'll be donating myself.... If anyone wants any information regarding this charity, please PM me. It's totally legitimate and run by a local hospital in NJ. They also periodically have comic shows where they sell the stock they've accumulated for their charitiable cause, and it's a great opportunity to pick up gems that others have discarded for whatever reason. Would be cool to see some local boardies at one of these shin-digs.....think the next is coming up in April.
  10. Yeah....where is pasta fagioli boy? I miss his contributions!
  11. I love you internet tough guys....it's like they build you on some giant assembly line and there's almost no end to production. Well, keep on keepin' on truckin. I'll expect your IROC Z to come screeching around the corner any time now.
  12. Congratulations on being in your mid 40s and sharing secret tips via PM. Ouch again bro. I'll say this to you: either get involved in the MMA so you can pound on people like veal to get out your aggression....or cut back on the testosterone/blow/coffee/satanic rituals/etc. What I said above in that post was a complete and utter work of fiction with a huge helping of sarcasm. And it was all for some sh*ts and giggles. I haven't received any PMs from anyone with super-ultra-hyper-secret tips....but I can't lie I would love to receive one. This is the second time you've gotten your panties in a bunch and lashed out at me in the open forums after something I've posted or said. You're probably the troll that got my harmless SpongeBob "Prepare your anus" avatar ban-hammered. Is there some karmic reason you're chapping me? Did I bang your broad in some threesome in some other lifetime? Do I remind you of that priest that molested you as a choir boy? I can roll with it as much as I can dish it out, but you really seem to have a hard on for me in the short period of time you've been here. Anytime you wanna dance like Michael Jackson with knives in the Beat it video I'm game.
  13. Watch me start WW3....: So thanks for that PM with all the super-ultra-hyper-secret tips we're not posting publicly anymore.....it was very illuminating. This is everyone that's not on the list right about now:
  14. I dunno, I have to wait an entire year sometimes to see another episode of practically any television show once the season comes to an end..... Doesn't dampen my interest at all....sometimes absence makes the heart grow fonder...yada yada. If something is that good, you just wait sometimes.....same's true of good food, great wine, etc. Just MHO, don't want to start the biotch slap-wagon again.....
  15. Being an artist, writer, poet, or whatever......and having people comment on the fruits of your labor comes with the territory. Hopefully E.S. has a thick skin and takes it all in as constructive criticism. I've seen the same types of comments in the Chew thread and the PP thread where other writers and artists of those titles contribute to the thread. The responses have ranged from comedic to caustic.....but so far nobody has bailed.
  16. The only thing that CAN be done is what we've been doing here: discussing openly what is suspicious and avoiding the pitfalls that develop as a result. It's unfortunately (or fortunately I guess for some folks) something that is a real issue that cannot easily be circumvented. You can always make a personal executive decision not to be taken in by such tactics, and that's why I value the insights that folks here have shared. And..
  17. You think people would notice these things before posting these links... the book sold though, so whoever wanted it felt like 350 was an acceptable price no, it didn't really sell. just because something sells for a a certain price doesn't make it real. chances of this book not being paid for is slim and it will be relisted. price manipulation and shill bidding is a huge problem on ebay. I've heard the arguments, but you can't ignore that there are probably a few folks out there that heard about the astounding PP gold-rush recently and had no prior Ebay history....that ended up listing for auction. That doesn't make it a shill, but it does make it appear to be so. Someone selling with 0 feedback doesn't set off alarm bells as much as people with 0 feedback or little feedback bidding like crazy. I've never sold a single thing on Ebay....ever......and I've been registered for years. My feedback has only come from purchases. If I dropped some PPs up there, would I be getting slammed for shilling? Probably, and it would be a falsehhood. I'm not saying there's no shenanigans on the bay, cause there surely are. Some of my first posts on the forum were about these issues: ie-price manipulation of the GPA via the bay, etc. I believe it's ongoing, but then again there are literally hundreds of other auctions to view and see what the general consensus is. Those outlier sales are always suspect but not necessarily shills. I've been guilty myself of getting caught up in a bidding war for something I want, and have overpaid significantly...only to find the same item way cheaper later. So this is really an insoluble situation. Shill or no shill, it will influence the sales the same ways legitimate sales do and vice versa. Sales are sales even if they're fakey sales.

  19. Did I ever mention I like pie as well?
  20. Wow, don't want to get into a measuring contest about variants.....BUT I had to interject about PP: Nobody seems to mention that most old timers grew up knowing the story of Peter Pan.....and those same old timers are probably the folks watching the History channel to see Hitler colorized and recount their WWII days. There's a real hunger for old-timey stories and WWII in general....it's a real franchise still. Someday that'll probably be less true, there'll be a planet full of whipper-snappers that'll think WWII is just something in history books like the Civil War and the Revolutionary War. Until that time, a mashup of old stories such as PP combined with WWII seems like utter gold for television. That's not to say a television show will ever manifest or that it'll be a slam-dunk success if it does.....but to not recognize that my grandpappy or father could or would appreciate seeing a "real life Peter Pan (sort of) in the midst of a World War" is just plain incorrect. Old(er) people and WWII go together like peanut butter and jelly. If the BBC pulls it off, there'll be people hungrily digesting that material from generations ago. They won't even know or understand it came from a comic book, and they'll watch nonetheless. That's may take. Now, as far as comparing NWM to PP, why bother? You either like one or both or neither. I can say PP has no "variants"....just reprints. Coupla' variants never hurt anyone. What is a bit over the top is 100 variants or the DC is pulling with JLA: like a variant for every friggin state?! That's when the sanity boat has left the dock. All I know is that with the first issue of NWM I wanted to see more....especially of odd crystal encrusted gorillas....give me more of that action and my $ will follow. NWM fills the void for me that the television show "Fringe" left. I dug that show to the max, and NWM has hints and flavors of that.....super-science...sometimes gone awry....etc. Anyway, love it.....leave it......wallpaper your bedroom walls with variants...whatever floats your boat....but the comparisons of quality merely due to secondary market pricing is hardly a reason to criticize the content of comic IMHO.
  21. Nah bro, that comes with the DMT foil edition....
  22. I'd rather spend it on a hooker and coke +2 (That's one for the blow and one for the bj) CRYSTAL LADEN GORILLA VARIANT FTW!!! Ooooh and a rainbow #1 variant with a hologram would be cool as well!
  23. All I'm asking for here is a NWM variant with a crystalline gorilla.....then my life will be complete. Get to it E.S.!
