Apple TV's FOUNDATION show from Isaac Asimov (TBD)
Arkham replied to Bosco685's topic in The Movie Forum
This is my most anticipated TV show of the year. So, basically, I am perfectly primed for disappointment. That said, I have been blown away by the quality of the Apple Originals that I’ve seen so far.- 25 replies

Just started going to my collection, after many years…
Arkham replied to JCComics's topic in Modern Age Comic Books
Welcome to the boards!! Valiantman has worded some considerations above perfectly. If you LOVE the book and want to keep it for yourself, then I would seriously consider putting it in a Mylar bag and just enjoying it as is. Books in Mylar really "pop" visually. (This thread may help you with sizing). To give you unsolicited opinion/feedback.... If you were considering of selling in the future, then I am one of those collectors Valiantman referenced - I fall into the category of not liking green labels and while I would buy, have bought and will buy again, an ungraded book with a COA, I haven't ever bought a green label. Not to say I won't some day for an uncommon book... but it's unlikely. -
Ha! I put Spawn 1 back on my watch list on eBay this week too for the same reasons, @D2. I sold mine a few years back and want to get it back in my collection, even though it is completely out of focus. Spawn is just an awesome character. I'm thinking of getting on the King Spawn bandwagon... I'm a little hesitant to add more to my pull list (time to read, money to buy and space to store), but I keep hearing good things.

Moderns that are heating up on ebay!
Arkham replied to thirdgreenham's topic in Modern Age Comic Books
Yeah - fair call! I really enjoyed it. I loved the art and most of the writing (the 're-asking' of the same question over and over as a story-telling technique got a little tired for me) They also wrote a ... [spoiler warning] -

Yeah, it's my favourite storyline at the moment. I read #6 last night, which was the conclusion of the first arc and it was kickass. -

Hey Patrick - this is an interesting take! I’d love to hear more about this similarity for you as I love both titles and completely missed it! -
Dammit. Now I need to go research all these posts!!

The Official King Spawn Appreciation Thread
Arkham replied to Sensei Ryan's topic in Modern Age Comic Books
I haven’t read Spawn for years… but this sounds right up my alley. I think I might have to get back into this!! Edit: searching “King Spawn” on eBay really does return a LOT of mushrooms. -
Out of the choice of separating a single run in two different storage methods/places or keeping it together, then the easy choice for me is to haemorrhage cash through duplication. I have a run raw that I am building a competitive registry set for. My raw run is not of high-enough grade to bother grading the books, so I keep that ungraded and specifically hunt high-grade slabs of that title... It's The Joker (1975) and there are only 9 published books, so (if you don't consider the incredibly low number of high-grade books in the census) this is doable. I have a modern run that I am collecting in full. I am occasionally picking up covers I love from that in CGC SS. But, in that circumstance, I am very happy to duplicate. The completion of the title in full raw is the goal here. This means I can store my raw books and slabs separately. Because even considering having a single run separated in storage technique makes me twitch spasmodically. But, it's not like I'm collecting a run that has mega-keys. Duplication is probably off the cards there. FWIW, I used to keep my slabs spine down. These days they are in acid-free BCW Graded Comic Book Bins and I wouldn't go back.

Ah! Very fair point. I haven’t come up against that.

No, the GoCollect integration and value data is just for graded books. You could manage this manually yourself for raws, as CLZ does have a value field (screenshot attached)… I’m sure people probably do this based on eBay sold or ComicsPriceGuide info or similar.

In my last journal entry, I spoke to my plans to target Batman #189 for the Rogues Gallery. Well, I did it. Ages ago, actually (in mid-May with an early June delivery)... But it turns out I am terrible at making time to update my journal and my registry sets. I absolutely LOVE this book. I have to thank @Wall-Crawler for spotting it over at @gregreece's and letting me know. #Legend. This is exactly what I was after - a mid-grade book that presents beautifully. I could sit here and look at this stunner all day. In fact, I have done exactly that. In my last journal entry I promised that I would write more about what I love about the Scarecrow. As I sit here and think about the best way to word this, I realise that it's really simple - the Scarecrow is spooky AF... and I am super into that. There have been some very quirky, camp portrayals of Scarecrow (and all characters from the pages of Detective Comics and Batman) over the years, but when he is done well - then he is simply chilling. Here are some of the interpretations that I've loved: And I am really digging Jorge Jiménez's take in the current run: So... now that I have that beautiful book in my collection, what next?

I picked up 1 copy. The cover art isn't for me... I still haven't gotten around to reading it yet.

@Shrevvy I'm late to the party here. I actually quite like the aggregated view of "my portfolio" that GPA provides (My Dashboard > My Comics). If you input your books (CGC serial + what you paid), then it displays your overall growth and position by title. It works for me perfectly. To do this, search for the books you own (Analyze Prices) and star the Book/Issue/Grade in the results (Save this title). Then go to My Dashboard > My Comics > select the comic you just starred/saved and then click "Add my purchase" - where you can input your CGC serial and the amount you paid. I also use CLZ Comics to catalogue my collection. I had a legacy account, but I paid the subscription because I wanted to support the devs... I would like to turn off the GoCollect price data, but haven't looked into how to do this. Simply because it seems so far off compared to GPA and what appears to be happening online. That said, I have been waiting with excitement for the new GoCollect site to launch. There is a lot I like about their site's functionality... but I never liked the layout. I can see myself maintaining both GoCollect and GPA memberships if GoCollect's new site is what I hope it will be.

Why Verification Of Sigs On Nonverifiable Books Is Such A Bad Idea

Based on the two pics I've seen, I would love to peruse your collection. You'd need a mop for all my drool though... Love seeing boardies in other places!! -

Terry, your profile pic reminds me.... Did I see you on Reddit holding onto a super-sexy Tec 168? -

It’s an Image #1, so I figure some of you will probably buy five copies because of that alone. But, who is taking a punt on this book? Has anyone seen early previews?

I wanted to resurrect this topic a decade on… Who do people recommend these days?

Moderns that are heating up on ebay!
Arkham replied to thirdgreenham's topic in Modern Age Comic Books
Even in the pandemic TWD #1 never reached those Invincible prices. If I had a 9.8 Invincible, I’d be flipping it not holding for S2. (I don’t understand the relevance of S2 to this book).
