  1. Sorry for your loss and I hope you track the books down. I can recommend regional Australia. Shipping is a bit of a bugger though.
  2. If that ever happened, I (like many others here, I'm sure) would happily host a new one for the community.
  3. Ooh! Presents!! Thanks mate. Looking forward to catching up when we can. Wild times. I'll work on that pile in the meantime. I pulled the plastic off The Last God this afternoon and the first thing that I saw and loved:
  4. My collecting goals for this calendar year: The Joker (1975) set (competitive set) This is a set that I want to complete in Near Mint or higher grade. Ideally, 9.8 - but some of these are hard to find. I'll be looking to grab any book that I don't already own in 9.4 or above. Rogues Gallery (custom set) Batman: Vengeance of Bane #1 (9.6 - 9.8) - 1st appearance of Bane Batman #635 (9.6 - 9.8) - 1st appearance of Jason Todd as Red Hood Batman #386 (9.6 - 9.8) - 1st appearance of Black Mask Batman #609 (9.8) - 1st appearance of Tommy Elliot (Hush) The Joker vol 2 (2021) (guilty pleasure - completionist run) #2, #3, #4, #5, #6, #7 variants by Adams, Sienkiewicz, and Banks (NM raw) #2 Hairsine 1:50 Variant in 9.8 - 1st appearance / 1st cover of Vengeance All new issues, all covers (NM raw) Reading goals.. don't know where to start... Will complete volumes 29 - 32 of the walking dead to finally catch up, will continue to read Nocterra, Geiger, Dept. of Truth, BRZRKR, SIKTC in TPB... Really need to work through my pile of shame to catch up on all the trades and floppies I bought last year and didn't get around to reading.
  5. Well said JC. Ten years ago... probably even five years ago, I would say that I didn't see any reason to not buy a 9.8 for any modern. But it's a very different world today... I want to own a collection of 9.8's... but now I usually can't justify the redonkulous asking price of a 9.8 when I can't see the flaws with many 9.6's with my own eyes... For example, I love the concept of the character the Batman Who Laughs and I collect 1st app's of Batman villains.. but I couldn't justify the price difference between 9.6 and 9.8 (over $500 at the time), so I picked up a 9.6 that presents beautifully!
  6. I have to also second @Blankedboy's suggestion of Nocterra - this was one of my most enjoyed titles for 2021. I think the first arc is out in trade now.
  7. I just completed volume 1 of Geiger. Really enjoyed it. New ideas mixed with elements of post-apocalyptic greats like Mad Max and other modern story lines, like The Stand.
  8. I’ve picked up some of the acid-free BCW plastic bins for slabs and raws recently. Really rate them… Sturdy, stackable, nice slot on the front for labelling. They cost a lot more than cardboard boxes, but will keep picking them up for my personal collection.
  9. Have you started “The Last God” yet? I’m tossing up between Geiger and that as my next read…
  10. Just home from holidays to find these two gems waiting at the door for me… These were quickly scanned into CLZ and then added to my to-read “pile of shame”:
  11. I’m actually surprised at how many books I’m getting now that are either dinged in the corners or have minor tears… I suspect the little corner tears are straight off the production line, but ComicsEtc are cutting the cardboard protectors too identical to the book size.. while it fits the tough bag, it gives no buffer for the auspost sorting machines… kind of defeats the effort they are going to in order to try to protect the books. (Edit: having written that, you probably didn’t even get those books from them! Lol… any excuse for a rant over here!)
  12. I love this setup and the books I can make out in the pic. It’s a dream collection.
  13. I relate. (I live in a regional part of Australia.. It’s more than 100km to the nearest brick & mortar store and it’s very rare for me to find slabs I collect shipping from Australia… so I’m 100% online purchases as well. I could drive down to the store - but between work and kids it just doesn’t seem manageable. We have one convention that comes to town, so we’re not spoiled for choice there, but it’s been kaput during the pandemic. I will go to the next one that I can though.. just to see books in the wild!)
  14. I hadn’t seen this thread before today. I both love the thread and am also kicking myself for selling my Batman #1 Sketch Variant! While that’s true, I am literally only replying because I don’t know how else to access the “follow topic” toggle on an individual thread.
  15. I’ve never done it - but I’ve been eying a book for a run I’m collecting raw on eBay.. and I can’t find it anywhere else. Think I’m going to have to buy it and crack it. 😀
  16. Guilty as charged!! Do you crack almost everything out L2?
  17. @dena - I’m not sure if you’re the appropriate admin to tag, but I wanted to flag that the SSL cert has expired (41 days ago) for boards.collectors-society.com While this isn’t the main URL these days, there is still a bit of registry functionality tied to it that this breaks - such as the auto-generation of forum signatures etc.
  18. I love all of those Bat books @Blankedboy… But, that Crain cover
  19. That’s a stunning book, @onlyweaknesskryptonite I’ve got a 9.6 Snyder SS. Always have my eye out for a Jock SS to upgrade to.
  20. It’s getting worse for me. The login issue is occurring more frequently and I’m also having occasions where I try to reply, click “submit reply” - which says “Saving” and then the post is gone. The reply box is empty and there is no new post on the thread.
  21. I’ve let most of it go now…. But, I still have a few copies of Lazarus #1, graded, raw, ss and a near complete run. One day it will all be riches beyond my wildest dreams.
  22. Nice quote @ADAMANTIUM - I 100% agree with @D2’s review - that run is a deadset ripper. (Don’t get me started on how much I’d love to own that SS pictured in D2’s post!) @Blankedboy put me onto it years ago and I was so grateful - it’s been one of my all-time favourite arcs ever since.
  23. I love Jock’s artwork (his mother named him Mark - Mark Simpson) - particularly his run in late Vol 1. Tec - “The Black Mirror” arc. Not sure how he goes as a writer… Reckon I’ll pick up the trade for this if the reviews on the floppies are solid.
  24. I’m not having that issue. Instead, my sessions seem to end very quickly when I access from multiple devices in a short time-frame. I utilise “Tab Groups” heavily and always have a tab open to the CGC boards with the intent of picking up where I last left off. However, when I go back to where I was (usually within hours of my last visit), I am signed out. When I click “sign in” at the top of the boards, I get taken to the CGC comics parent site. Auth is successful, clicking the “Chat Boards” link in the main menu brings me back to the forums in a new tab, but I am not signed-in. Devices: This happens daily in Safari for iPadOS and iOS. Less frequently in Safari for macOS. (Latest versions on all devices). The fix for iPadOS and iOS is to open System Preferences > Safari > Advanced > Website Data then search “cgccomics” and delete this specific row of data. Then I can sign in again. I’ll probably be signed back out on my other devices though. As linked above, I initially thought this was a setting related to the number of allowed concurrent sessions. But, given the fix, it does seem to instead be some kind of local session data or cookie issue.
  25. Thanks all. This is helpful and I appreciate it. @John R- I hadn’t looked at the GCD and that looks to be the most complete list that I’ve seen. I’ll save this to use again in the future. I was hoping that people might have some obscure links to publisher’s inventory lists (searchable historically) or some such - so I can self-serve in the future for other titles, but I’m already very happy to have GCD saved as a bookmark.
