  2. I think I found what Golden Age comics I intend on collecting
  3. I've been looking to get into some none typical Marvel/DC superhero golden age comics and Planet comics have really caught my eye. I really like the covers (obviously) and I love the content as well. Was wondering if I could get pointed in the right direction regarding purchasing these. Good sellers, bad sellers, what to look for, any "keys" etc. Any help would be appreciated, thanks.
  4. So it looks like they will compete with the Batman/Superman movie for most dumb decisions. They're off to a great start, now they need some horrible casting and we have competition!
  5. I'd happily give my money to James again! Great communication and the packaging was secure enough to ship fabrege eggs with a monster truck, it was very very very good, great seller buy with confidence! -Thanks James!

  8. I've seen a couple different ones, I may ask my LCS if they have an old one, it would look nice
  9. There is a difference between running a week or two behind their (usually optimistic, unless you subbed moderns) stated TATs, and stanley1883's situation. While TATs are an estimate, and not a guarantee of service, his situation would represent some kind of serious error on their part. If they are truly standard subs, which have a 15 day TAT and cost $60 apiece, and they were actually subbed in late November, he would have something legitimate to complain about. I'm not saying my case warrants a complaint as it doesn't, I was stating that my interaction with their customer service in the past was less than amazing.
  10. Has anyone ever had some form of success by complaining to CGC? My personal experience has yielded nothing. Their service has improved but I still get a sense that they know that we as collectors dont really have another choice so sometimes they come across as "so what." Sorry didnt mean for that

  12. Brian was an awesome seller. Great communication, the shipping was very fast and the packaging was awesome. Wouldn't hesitate buying from him again. Top notch
  13. So I was very cordial, didn't want to accost the dude. Spoke to Daniel. Regarding Terrance Ledger and trimming I was told this was looked into and unfounded, had no basis. With regards to Ryan Elliot, I was told he does not work there and was told that people resubmitting books is commonplace. I told him that the issue is that Ryan is allegedly an employee to which he simply said "oh.". I had to specifically ask if Ryan Elliot is an employee to get a direct answer, so take that for what it's worth. Honestly he didn't get into any detail other than saying the trimming accusations are over 4 years old and unfounded. He didn't expand on Elliot, only said people can crack slabs and resubmit for sale all they want. Overall, the only thin he did say is that they grade according to a process, don't guarantee grades, "are pretty good at detecting restoration," must witness sigs, the usual Stuff that would be expected. He did not however state anything about employees and conflicts o interest. Didn't really get anywhere in hindsight, but then again im sure I could have asked more pointed questions, but I didn't want to come across as a jerk. He was overall dismissive of anything written online, he stopped short of saying its just disgruntled people. I got the feel that he wanted sidestep questions and stick to the "we grade everything the same, yadda yadda yadda." I should have called when I was in a foul mood, sorry folks. Got their # if anyone wants to follow up.
  14. Thanks mrwoogieman for the info! I'll ask them regardless, to play it safe.
  15. So something came over me and I decided to write PGX and ask them about all the articles refering to their unethical practices. I was asked to give them a call as it would be "difficult to provide great info through an email" regarding this. It looks like there will not be a paper trail, but I will be giving them a call later on today and report back. Anyone have anything else they want me to specifically ask? I'll be referring to their trimming of books and this lovely person_too_unaware_of_social_graces as well.
  16. So perhaps a dumb question, but WHY can't this guy be stopped? Does he own PGX? What exactly is up with this dirtbag? I'd be great if we could find some way to actually stop this. The problem I see is that even if we could PROVE fraud, I have a hard time believing law enforcement would take something like this seriously. Anyone with law enforcement background care to weigh-in?
  17. For you fellow Phoenicians, I have tried Craigslist but nothing really panned out. The best thing I bought from Craigslist was a Mad Love and Batman Adventures 12 (currently @ CGC, hopefully comes back a 9) along with BA 1-21. Paid $80 for everything. I kinda wanna hit some garage sales with you guys but we'd probably be tripping over one another if we all saw a book we wanted.

  19. Not Goyer - Argo writer Chris Terrio. It was posted a few pages back, and seems like a smart move to better the -script before shooting. yeah he was brought in to make sure the -script Flo good and i think the -script is huge which why we hear so much about BvS and JL filming back to back. thanx guys. Im not up on who's who, only that Affleck has taken some measure of control of the film. Im not big on Affleck, but didn't think casting him as Batman was the end of the world, but Im not sold on his filmmaking skills. Yes he won Best Picture, but in a conflicted race last year, I believe he slipped thru. I found Argo to be almost insulting at the end with all the last second airport tension that NEVER HAPPENED! It was a true story, why give and in to punch up the narrative for dramatic effect for the movie? The real story was cool snuff even though they skipped out of Iran uneventfully. So Im not seeing how Afs Oscar -winning film experience helps him in crafting a superhero flick. But, hopefully it won't matter so long as the collective wisdom on the films makes all the right moves. Based upon the casting decisions, I'd venture to say that the "collective wisdom" of this group for this film is non existent thus far.
  20. Where was this place? I can't seem to find these places in AZ that Practically give away issues.
  21. The Bombshells on on what? The fourth one (I've seen Supergirl, Harley, Wonder Woman, and Batgirl this week). You could still pick those up if you really like them. Didn't know there are different series. I know of 7 Bombshells. Love the Poison Ivy, I like all of them except the Wonder Woman.
  22. Seeing lots and lots of statues, which sucks because they're awesome but expensive. Don't know how to support comics AND statues. Ugh! So for you statue aficionados, I like the sideshow, the bishoujo anime girls and the Bombshell series. Thoughts? Why to look for, what to avoid? Thanks in advance.
