  1. I'm a bit more random with SA than I am with GA but took home a few books that stood out for me this year I was glad to get copies of.
  2. More Schomburg covers to look at it is good a good rule to live by so I can't see doing a less is more approach. I don't see a one ring to rule them all book out there, like the 52 Mantle Topps card is - towering above everything ever printed in that hobby.
  3. I sold a Tec225 2.5 for $2,034 which edged the most recent gpa of $1,925 so I was happy with that but oh yea they don't report to gpa so that tree just fell in the forest..
  4. some beauties sold. Wish I wasn't on the west coast, I snoozed and I losed! great books.
  5. Thought it was pretty darn good but I don't think that Cyborg has historically been that important to the League and that was a seat that the Martian Manhunter deserved. I always felt the Manhunter was the "sane" one in the League and could be trusted to clean up the mess the other members created. He also embodies more the ideals of the League whereas Cyborg spent too much time in this picture in various angsty type scenes fretting about himself.
  6. cracking Voldemort slabs is kinda fun, you get the pliers out and snap those corners off, pieces fly around the living room. It's a party
  7. there's been a variety of studies how even during times of recession, the very high end of the collectable space remains relatively unscathed as high net worth individuals fair better than most folks during these times. Contrarians often buy during dips. That mutual fund or index fund with three dozen companies in there that millions of Americans buy without even knowing what the underlying portfolio consists of will probably sure drop a hell of a lot faster and steeper than a GA or SA key during a market decline. My .02
  8. when the dust settles on this Justice League movie, the Flash will be in really good shape and Wonder Woman was in pretty damn good shape going in. The Lantern may be feeling good he sat it out. The standalone Flash film will likely continue through production and introduce a wider audience to a character has already done really well on television and with millennials. Right now, the book is somewhere in the ballpark of 20k per CG point and I think has a lot of upside there over time as the character may suit modern audiences more than other prominent heroes in the League for a variety of reasons, but that's debatable of course.
  9. The HA guys had a table at SF comic con last year and we just chewed the fat about a number of things. They started talking about the Platinum session for books that they were just about to roll out or had recently rolled out, I don't remember. Part of reason they created that session they told me was for them to roll some of their other customers from their other business verticals into a more curated high end book event that they could participate in without having to know a lot about books or having to select from a bigger pool of books. So basically to market that session to their whales that are buying in other categories at HA. They specifically said that was the bulk of the thesis of why they did it.
  10. The King's Cadillac has been completely restored in a frame off restoration. Definitely a purple label high grade and not the same whip the King once drove.
  11. Tec 225 looks like it's closing out the year strong. The 4.5 went for $3,855
  12. God Bless it, I forgot about the clink GA books closing tonight in auction while wrapping up some things at work despite tracking at least a dozen books and many of the Bats Tecs. Does this ever happen to you? You sort of fall asleep on these clink auctions closing? For some reason, they sneak up on me and I just forget about it. Still a couple books I can hopefully grab that haven't closed yet.
  13. when I first joined I promptly listed a Voldemort/Other Guy high grade X-Men book on the boards for sale and realized I screwed up and took it down. Then I posted a raw Planet Comics that I think I priced way too high and it was crickets and I took that down. Finally I posted a Mystery Men Comics book at a good price and it sold. So I made some mistakes, figured it out, and made a couple sales. I see new guys make some posting mistakes too but it's cool because I want more opportunities to buy books without having to bid against all the folks in comic connects database.
  14. So I just got my copy of Terrors of the Jungle #6 and was a bit startled to see this free Hitler stamp promotion on the back cover. This book was published in 1953 and a good number of years after the war. I guess I was just surprised to see this promoted on a comic book. Were these Hitler stamps a collectable item at this time? I didn't think this kind of material would be on the back of a book so I'm curious to know any context.
  15. bought a raw Marvel Mystery Comics #6 from them they graded a G/VG: 3.0 with Brittle pages and came back from CGC a blue 3.0 with Brittle Pages. I was happy with that outcome as the price was very reasonable and the book is tough. Bought a raw Blue Beetle #3 they placed at G/VG: 3.0 that came back a blue CGC 3.0 with Light Tan to OW pages. Great price on that book too. With either of those books I bought knowing that it could come in lower and I'll still want a copy. Would do it again. With raw books on the Bay, good luck.
  16. good pickup. I threw a why the hell not $500 offer on that which was clearly too low.
  17. was this a stock merger? I didn't think the terms of the deal were disclosed and I would expect mostly a cash deal between two relatively small privately held companies but you never know. I would think comic link would actually be the player on the table that would be interesting to HA or to another auction house that is looking to diversify into the comic book category. clink is a really small company compared to HA but they are part of the big 3 of cc, clink and HA. I have no idea what kind of revenue clink is doing but maybe they are a lifestyle business turning over nice cash for the team.
  18. wish I could but got roped into some halloween plans I can't avoid. You know it's an LA con when they're got a cosplay party with Black Eyed Peas. I love silver if it's not the 30% over gpa con markup for keys.

haha so do I. Anytime someone reaches for Overstreet to price a gold age book I'm stoked because I'm about to get a deal, and it rarely happens. It's usually multiples of guide and if I'm at a con, a multiple of gpa that is already a multiple of guide.
  20. the problem I have at cons is that gpa sorta sucks on mobile devices so it's hard for me to figure out if a price is ridiculous on GA and SA books without referring to it. Other than that, I bring a backpack to lug around purchases because it constrains my buying.
