  1. Scarecrow is discussed as playing a role in season 4 of Gotham and also potentially being a key villain again in the new Batman films coming down the pike.
  2. same. The All-Flash #32 3.0 went for $850 despite a 7.0 selling for $750 a month ago. The World's Finest #3 3.0 went for $1,855 which was strong. I didn't see anything cheap, at least with the books I was tracking.
  3. congrats nice copies. Gotta love those white pages.
  4. anyone pick up on any of the John G. Fantucchio X-Men books off clink tonight? Really nice copies and almost a full-run of first series. I was in the running for the #4 9.0 but was outbid.
  5. my co-worker's uncle has a raw Action 1 in a safe. I know it sounds far fetched as these stories often do, but apparently it's a part of a much larger collection this guy in Boston has. I've tried many times, through his nephew to see if he'd be interested in selling other books. I don't have funds for an AC1 so I put together my want list of other GA books I'm interested in. Never got a response. I ask my friend (since I see him daily) why is he holding onto those books. He has no idea. I think that's the thing. There are probably some folks, how many I don't know, that have these books and just keep 'em.
  6. I like Showcase 60. You can still get a high grade copy for under $1000. It's the first SA appearance of the Spectre and he's still an important and relevant superhero in DC comics today. One day he'll show up on tv or in the movies and it will be a good way to participate because his GA More Fun Comics covers are very expensive already. I think Showcase 55 is a no-brainer with that first SA appearance of Solomon Grundy. I'm surprised this book is still as affordable as it is today.
  7. anyone else have a post Super Bowl come-down/hangover moment after this Berk auction closed? I have a bunch of tracking bids in the clink auction right now I almost totally forgot about and I'm not pumped up to bid like normal.
  8. I picked up the MM7 and posted in the thread a few pages back
  9. anyone land any of those nice Berk Subbys? I was tapped out after the MM.
  10. picked this up yesterday. Today is a nice rest before I gear up for the Church Mystery Men but may be too sky high.
  11. the bb3 was a gorgeous copy but just too rich
  12. well that was intense. I got the #1 which I can pair up with my other 7.0 that rounds out the tied for second best grades.
  13. go Dubs. I'm in SF and checked stubhub and cheapest seat is about $675. Think I'll watch on TV and put that money towards one of the courtside equivalent Berk book purchases.
  14. I found on the clink auctions, I generally get the book I want at the price I wanted. HA is a bit all over the map. I can usually get the book but that will typically mean paying more than I wanted. On CC, I don't like the extended bidding, I think it's a sham. I feels like a feature a product manager came up with to increase revenue from customers. On ebay, I feel like I'm bidding against goblins, Russian hackers and collectors so all bets are off and I manually snipe - and still lose on most books.
  15. I find it's helpful to hone in on grade because there's a lot of inventory of SA books. When I started my X-Men (1963) run I targeted books in 9.0+ condition and if the book was selling near gpa I bought it. That's it. For the keys in the X-Men run there's not that many big keys in any event beyond #1 #4 and #12. The ASM run is filled with a number of keys whereas with the X-Men books, outside of the first book the Silver Age characters and plots has been largely overlooked in movies in favor of stuff from the 80's/Chris Claremont stories etc. You would think X-Men #2 would be a key with the 1st Vanisher but no one knows who the hell he is so it's just a tough book and relatively affordable. Other 1st appearances in the first run such as the Mimic and Banshee and a host of others barely move the price so I try to get a 9.2 or a 9.4 over the 9.0 since the prices don't climb too much.
  16. there's a copy on clink now at a good price for a nice looking 2.0. I'm surprised it's still there and would throw an offer out if I hadn't already picked up the book. http://comiclink.com/itemdetail.asp?back=%2Fsearch_adv.asp%3Fall%3Dy%26TITLE%3Dterrific%2Bcomics%26TITLEOPT%3DALL%26ISSUE%3D5%26Condition%3D%26ConditionTo%3D%26CensusRank%3D%26SearchPageQuality%3D%26Pedigree%3D%26PRICEF%3D%26PRICET%3D%26DESCRIPTION%3D%26DESCRIPTIONOPT%3DALL%26SearchRemarks%3D%26SearchCGC%3D%26EXCLUDE%3D%26CATEGORIES%3D-1%26WCATEGORIES%3D-1%26SORT%3DCATEG%26_where_forsale%3Dy%26_where_auctions%3Dy%26x%3D52%26y%3D22%26where_forsale%3Dy&id=1182865
  17. well that must be a high bar then if they are looking at winners to distribute catalogues to. I took home the Terrific Comics #5 1.8, Subby #11 6.0 and #12 7.5 in their last auction alone. oh well, womp womp.
  18. I guess this is also the place to vent about not getting a Berk catalogue since I also got shafted and didn't get one. I was hoping to have something to remember this by as I'm expecting to get crushed on the bidding for the Church Mystery Men books, I'm sure the trademark CC extended bidding feature will tack on another 30 days to the auction.
  19. we're talking about paper items, not oil on canvas. The Getty Museum displays their manuscripts in rooms that have no external light enter, no windows. Only special low level lights. They wouldn't expose their paper manuscripts to natural light.
  20. An upcoming Fox X-Men series called The Gifted. Although her first appearance in X-Men 49 is the more valuable book, her cover appearance on X-Men 50 is the far more attractive book.
  21. Got one SA book. This nice Don/Maggie Thompson Collection copy with bone White pages. Books been en fuego lately with the news Polaris will be in the upcoming X-Men tv series but price was fair.
