  1. Keep talking about writing your name on the back of art. Pretty soon coollines will decide the postcards they send out with every piece are cutting into their profits and will just start stamping the back of every page. Altering art just seems like a bad idea.
  2. I don't collect from that time period, artist or subject matter. But as an outsider, that might be my favorite Kirby OA I've seen so far. It seems to have everything you could want in a FF cover, and I really appreciate the layout.
  3. This thread isn't about likes and dislikes. It was started solely for dislikes. If the thread was 'which artists work has changed over the years', then I agree a discussion could be had. And has been in other threads, with positive and negative comments both, but constructive nonetheless. I stand by my opinion that a thread solely for calling out perceived subpar work is a useless thread. And insinuating immaturity and emotional deficiency seems more of a personal attack, but whatever. I'll chalk it up to you defining civil the same way you define productive discussion.
  4. I don't understand why this is even a thread. What a useless topic.
  5. Picked some stuff up from Bill's booth this con. Higher res of the commission on my CAF http://www.comicartfans.com/GalleryPiece.asp?Piece=1409531
  6. Not to get too off topic, but the annual tourism revenue in SD is over 10 billion. SDCC brings in about 150 million in revenue. It's a beautiful feather in our cap, but to say it provides the city with 1/3 its annual revenue is laughable.
  7. I've never seen people having to wait due to capacity, so I think things have changed since you've been.
  8. It's pretty easy to get badges on Craigslist. Wait till the day before or morning of and usually they're pretty close to cost.
  9. Here's a fun one. Sold on Clink 5.4.17 for $424. http://www.comiclink.com/itemdetail.asp?back=%2Fsearch.asp%3Fwhere%3Dsell%26title%3DMarvel%2Bswimsuit%26GO2%3DGO%26ItemType%3DCA&id=1173622 just listed on eBay for $2500. http://www.ebay.com/itm/MARVEL-SWIMSUIT-SPECIAL-3-X-MEN-PINUP-ORIGINAL-COMIC-ART-Horror-Scifi-cgc-gga-/192218321430?hash=item2cc11ad216:g:GeYAAOSwi8VZQqjq
  10. Wasn't there a thread last year about somebody purchasing a New Mutants 87 'alternate' cover at a con that turned out to be bogus? Seems they'll pull all their shenanigans anywhere.
  11. No worries. Not annoying. I just see your issue with sniping as something completely separate from what Clink is doing by reopening auctions. I don't see it as Clink endorsing sniping. And to be fair, I have no issue with sniping. Just part of the auction process.
  12. There is an easy answer. Open the auctions back up. Which is what Clink is doing. it seems clear your issue is with sniping, not with Clink. It is the nature of set auctions. To rail at Clink for fixing a problem on their end the best they can, regardless of the habits of bidders, seems pointless.
  13. Was happy to snag the one piece I was super into, at a price inside my comfort zone. Doesn't happen a lot for me on heritage.
  14. Although I'm sure there are pieces in their stock they want to keep, I don't know any collectors that like to alter art like they do. Seems like solely a (questionable) sellers tactic.
  15. Yeah. There is some seriously ratchet stuff to wade through on the bay.
  16. I'm not a fan of sigs on art except in the borders. And I don't really collect current art, but isn't this just an ink over blue random page from a later issue? Don't really see it making much of a difference. If one of the sigs is from the actor portraying the character on the page, might even up the price a little. Who knows. Since it's not my wheelhouse I'm somewhat indifferent.
  17. Nice stuff. I'd maybe suggest making more specialized folders with less pieces per folder. Having only 2 folders with 100+ pieces each, a lot of people probably only make it a page or two then stop looking. welcome to the boards
  18. It's still available here: http://www.coollinesartwork.com/featured.asp?Piece=303458 I'm wondering if such pieces ever were sent to PedigreeComics or if they all still are at Coollinesartwork. The scan looks identical on both websites. When buying from HA or CLink I think they always had the pieces in their hands, so they're able to check and investige the pieces if necessary. If most of the pieces are still at the consignors, then PedigreeComics can do little to evaluate the pieces before the auction is over. I've always thought that the good thing about HA or CLink was that their art experts provided some security if there's something odd about a piece. If you're sure Ron Lim didn't draw anything on this piece, then to me there's a serious error in the listing on Pedigreecomics - it directly states that Ron Lim is the primary artist of this particular piece. On a side note over the years I've bought a few books from Doug, never had any trouble and I didn't pay more than usual compared to GPA prices - and Doug was very helpful. Did I miss in the description where it says it's ink over blue line? I'd expect a reputable auction house to specifically call that out..... it was in the description on Comic Link when it went for $1200 (which was why it went for that). since then the price tripled & that got left off subsequent descriptions Well it sold for $5,150. If CLink was wrong about it being inks only, then both buyers got a steal. If, however, the CLink description was accurate..... Just thought I would chime in here... I worked with the consignor of this piece when he sold it through ComicLink in 2015. From the outset he was very clear that this piece was Florea's published ink art over a blueline of Lim's pencils. I even have an email exchange with him where he mentions that "Lim would not sell the pencils"... so, I am highly confident that our 2015 listing was in fact correct. I would expect that the nature of this piece simply was not communicated to Pedigree by their consignor. I can't imagine that they would intentionally leave out this sort of info. Maybe they never even had the piece in their possession. Seems like they probably did not have possession of many of the items in the auction. If the buyer of this piece is on the boards and wants to get more info on the piece, discuss it further, etc., please PM me or contact me directly at dgillock@comiclink.com This cover sure does get around... http://www.ebay.com/itm/381998987251?_trksid=p2055119.m1438.l2649&ssPageName=STRK%3AMEBIDX%3AIT
  19. I only have a few consignments in, but they're currently at about a quarter of what market's been. So yeah, fingers crossed for lots of last minute action.
  20. Fair enough. Still not sure why all these threads are created for art that gets removed soon after from CAF.
  21. I have no idea. It was pointed out in another of drfate's numerous threads that the piece was no longer on CAF but now on romitaman's site. This piece is no longer on CAF, but there is a Guardians cover on romitaman in the new section. I don't know if it's the same one or not, but it seems like another odd coincidence. I would just like to know why most of drfate's posts are solely new threads advertising 'cool new pieces' to his "collection" that quickly seem to turn up on other venues for sale, without a lot of participation elsewhere on the boards. Seems shilly or thinly veiled advertising.
  22. Is this yet another thread that was started by you, that now the art is deleted from CAF and up on romitaman? Yay!
  23. Im not trying to be a jerk, but maybe instead of starting the same thread every few days, either keep it all in the same thread, or use the "this week in your OA collection" thread that's always at the top of the OA forum.
