It was a joke. I wouldn’t have been bidding on something I didn’t want and wasn’t prepared to pay for.

There’s some stuff I was interested in today, but I’m traveling and didn’t care enough to focus on them. They def went lower than I thought they would. Who knows if id have won, but I would have at least threw in some punishment bids. 4 days of auctions is a little much for me.

Yeah the movie looks good. Doesn’t much change my opinion. I’ve enjoyed a lot of Vin movies, despite his acting in them.

I’d think a Vin Diesel adaptation would lower the price. Yeah, I figured the movie + first app + BWS was gonna drive it up. Just not that much.

Am I missing something on that, or is it just one of the few Valiant grails out there?

Filled a lot this year, but an Art Adams New Mutants page and a Paul Smith brood page are still towards the top of my missing wants.

Second that. I’m in San Diego, but LA might as well be across the country. Hate going there.

Maybe this is just one of those innocent situations, where you thought the transaction was valued at $15,000, but PayPal thought it was worth at least $15,450 and didn’t want it to go for less than that. I’ve read on these boards somewhere that that’s a thing.

The hourly emails aren’t tailored. It just shows everything that was listed for sale the previous hour. Sometimes that’s 2 pieces, sometimes it’s hundreds.

I’m lucky to really only have one commission I’m not in love with. Not really the artists fault. He sent a pencil prelim, I okayed it. But there was a particular feature once inked that just bugs me. Really just a personal quirk on my end probably. I paid, said thanks, and later got another commission done by him. Love the second one. I figure they can’t all be home runs.

I at least loaded it up and I got 3 11x17s and a 13x19 and they fit totally fine. A little heavy but doable. Not uncomfortable strap wise.

I was talking to his rep at NYCC, and he was joking about the crazy stuff Bill has sent him. I think his Godzilla cover painting he said was on a random cardboard box.

I generally don’t love talking about prices, but my experience with Dan Thursday was easy and fair. The New Mutants page was quoted at $600 and the X-men 219 page I bought was $750 - both I felt in line with market. So I said I’d take them both and gave him cash.

I ended up lucking out and purchasing the prelims for the book. I’m probably happier than if I had gotten a page or two. It’s gonna take me a while to get them all scanned in. There’s a lot.

Not to disrespect Dan at all, but in my brief interaction with him yesterday, I got the impression that age is having some effect on him. According to a boothmate, he was late yesterday because he had to go back home for some type of issue. And he was out of his booth quite a bit once there. So I don’t know if he was distracted from the day, having memory issues, or a combination of both... Maybe he quoted you the wrong price first, maybe when you came back. I’d say ask again today and see what price you get if it’s still there, then let the situation end regardless.
