  1. I’ve been subscribed to Alex’ channel for a few years now, I thought it was cool how he bought an animation cel from a homeless guy who found it in the trash and after he resold it for a surprising amount, tracked down the homeless guy (wasn’t easy) to share the profits. The money he gave got the guy off the streets and he eventually was able to become self employed- I think as a handyman. Shortly after that was the potter’s house (original series titled hoarder house) which became an interesting series of videos. The latest Kastner auction will have some of the last of the potter’s pieces.
  2. I bought Lash 71-80 and all the Charlton Rocky Lanes.
  3. There’s better venues to sell comics that specialize in them. Hakes would be a great place to sell your rare toys or political memorabilia. They routinely set records in those fields.
  4. Just got one in the mail today. Actually all 10 of them have the same sticker but this is the only noteworthy one...
  5. Dad took this pic of his sister on vacation in Colorado in the mid to late ‘50s
  6. My dad in the early ‘50s stationed at Camp Pendleton. I eventually tracked down the issue he was reading on eBay and gave it to him as a Father’s Day gift one year.
  7. Just 7 issues later, but 3 years apart...
  8. Pretty cool, very doubtful that it’s a sketch though, most likely printed.
  9. Cashiers raising an eyebrow as 13 year old girls plunked this down to buy in ‘75...
  10. Had to go to my LCS for some bags & boards, not expecting to buy anything else... but noticed this sharp copy in a nearly empty box. The cashier said it was 10% off which I also did not expect.
  11. My source was a Kramer ad from a rock mag of the day. The college assignment was to make (I think 6) illustrations from magazine photos using different techniques. This one was colored pencil only. Others from that assignment were markers only, pencil only and mixed media.
  12. Wow, they sure are! Thank you so much! Edit to include: funny thing is, Gerry Conway had nothing to do with these issues other than he probably read them as a youngster.
  13. Agree on all counts, and I remember the epidemic a few years back of all the fakes. I just don’t remember what those fakes looked like and am not familiar with all the variations of his later sloppy sigs. These just look so bad that it begs the question “if you’re going to fake his sig, wouldn’t you at least try?”
  14. Instead of starting a new post, this one looks like a good one to possibly get some opinions on... I recently bought a couple books from a seller who was lazily grading a bunch of books G/VG. One was upper mid-grade that I was very interested in so looked at his other offerings to make shipping worthwhile. These 2 Subbys caught my eye since they also looked better than the assigned G/VG grades and there was the low key un-hyped suggestion they could be signed by Stan. I did a bit of research but couldn’t find examples of later sloppy sigs and these don’t have a prominent “L”... could they be legit or obvious fakes?
  15. Not a recent one, but it became relevant again recently. From a college illustration class, probably 1984/85.
  16. Description: “From 1991- almost 20 years old!” Derp.
  17. Moms threw out their kids collections... a very very common story. Mine hauled my extensive model kit collection to the curb one day while I was at school.
