  1. The original Godzilla long box from 1964 had opaque magenta colored plastic as shown ( pics from an eBay listing). Luminators kits had a semi-transparent "neon" colored plastic.
  2. Thanks, man! It's a real fun find. I've had a blast researching them, learning about them, the history of them, the knock-offs, etc. I just want to add, the last 6 boxes were not $5 each like the first 3 (because I was stupid enough to list the first 3 on eBay).
  3. My view, if they don't sell high, they don't sell at all. I'll just put them away for 10 years praying for a Rubber Uglies movie.
  4. It's good to deceive people.... Gotcha I get what you're saying guys, but there's different ways of selling. I'm a regular seller since 1998.
  5. Rubber Ugly collectors are an alien species to me right now, but I'll crack their code eventually.
  6. They're worth what I'm asking, actually more. The target audience is much smaller than the comic buying crowd, but 8+ boxes is hardly a warehouse find. It'll be harder to sell them by the full box which I'd prefer to do, and most will be sold on eBay rather than here. The box I offered here is cheaper than the comparable box offered on eBay, since a few here expressed interest in them. They have the Basil Wolverton connection which make them of interest to comics people. People sell individual used figures for up to $40 each, there's one character variety in one of my boxes that have sold for $75 & $130 in 2013. Yes, full boxes are expensive but there is a price point they'll sell at and I'll get there... This morning the worst example of the boxes- just the empty box sold for $150. The box I'm offering here is good for a joke to you, but if no one makes an acceptable offer here, it WILL sell on eBay eventually at whatever price they get adjusted down to.
  7. ...And I was agreeing with him. Never heard of "make an offer?".
  8. I went to this photo exhibit today... And was surprised to see this newsstand photo with comics up on the gallery wall as fine art! The photo was dated 1954.
  9. Great info, thanks! It was pretty dusty so I assumed it was much older and that frame...! Good solid lead to research in a different direction. Thanks again!
  10. That was definitely my first thought, but there's a sophistication of the character poses that suggest something more, and coming from an Iowa estate... Doubtful there was someone named "Kang" around here in the '60s. The estate was heavy on Japanese items, the family traveled there, maybe multiple times, but Kang is likely a Chinese name. The mystery may remain unsolved.
  11. Thanks, Sharon! That's where it's signed "Kang" lower right under the castle.
  12. Maybe you could purchase art in shops at Disneyland? Looks semi-pro if not pro work but my research isn't turning anything up yet. If anyone has any insight or other theories, I'd appreciate it.
  13. 3rd local auction of the week. Bought a lot of cool stuff today but this is the only comic related purchase. 17" X 20" acrylic on canvas, signed "Kang" ...1960s maybe?
  14. Cool, he should keep an eye towards eBay then in the next few days. Going to auction off the worst box 1st, it'll be missing one figure, then the 2nd auction will be complete box of 72. I'm going to hang on to the best box for myself.
