  1. My Daredevil 168 arrived today.... grader notes mentioned small crease lower right corner (breaks color). Somehow, the top right corner was bent post grade. Is CGC rushing these slabs through too quickly with all the SS events, causing damage and missed quality control. A facebook post showed the same damage to another DD 168 except it was lower right corner. #frustrated.... #nolonger9.6?
  2. Have you received slabs from CGC? They ship out single slabs in a sturdy box that is about 10x15x3.5 and wrap the slab in "large bubble" bubble wrap. Just make sure the box is a good size and maybe double box just to be safe. CGC receives books with all sorts of weird packing. Just keep it simple and protect from corner smashes... Only if it's not too snug in the bag, I would double up on the backer board... depending on who's signing, potential of damage to book... my last (and I mean last) signing ended with a book getting a bent corner that resulted in getting a 9.6. (Cough...FM)
  3. Placed a good size order with BCW and to reach the $200. mark for free shipping (otherwise just too expensive) I picked up some of their comic book shippers. They are very similar to the Gemini boxes but I am concerned because they are thinner and seem a bit flimsy compared to the Gemini. The BCW's are only slightly lighter and a bit longer. ..... Anyone familiar with these boxes, either used or received?
  4. Commission an artist or 5 year old to decorate those white boxes.
  5. Yes.... unless you can get an airtight seal on the bag.... which probably isn't healthy for the comic book either since the paper/ink puts off fumes as well..... talking long term.
  6. Plywood, being thin layers of wood glued together, will put off fumes that, over time, can possibly cause damage to your books. Short term, unlikely to be an issue. Although the boxes are living room and wife friendly, the cost is a bit much. How about regular comic boxes covered in a neutral colored gift wrapping paper?
  7. You can start with the entire population of Los Angeles....
  8. Also there is a chance that package will be opened and inspected. Anything with advertising does not qualify for media mail.
  9. Ebay has some sort of deal with USPS where normally anything over 13oz would be Priority, but through ebay shipping up to one pound can be sent 1st class. Rate also vary depending on the zone you're shipping to.... obviously, the further away the higher the cost.
  10. Defects such as those behind the covers that a press and clean may not significantly help, although with the book graded at 8 the defects are more likely to be to the covers.
  11. The original submitter of the comic book may have them, but being an older slab, the seller may not be the original owner. I believe CGC can provide grader notes for a fee but you should contact them because I don't know the process.
  12. Can you obtain the grader's notes? That may help with making a decision.
  13. ...this was in today's (July 7) LA Times...
  14. All lower case ..... ricanna-99 As for checking feedback... I also look at winner's history and if they leave zero "feedback for others" I return that favor
  15. If I sell a slab on ebay, which I do once in a blue moon, I include a pic with the grader notes. Not sure if that helps or hurts my sales.
  16. I believe the form would be a 1099 and no they don't. Buyers would be scamming MCS, not me, but not sure how they handle that sort of situation. I know that they don't ship items until payment clears. I've never had an issue. Their commission ranges from 10 to 6%
  17. I consign my copper and early modern slabs through MyComicShop. They list items on their site as well as ebay. Very happy with their service. I prefer not to list high priced items on ebay.
  18. Ship in two separate medium rate Priority boxes if that works out cheaper than filling one box with 100 comics.
  19. Sort of the same process except you select "reholder" submission form on the first page and the second page, supply the Cert. # and send the book still in the slab. .... $15. plus shipping
  20. Might want to wait a while before purchasing a lottery ticket.... that kind of luck on a first sale......
