  1. If it is for CGC you can send the slab and they supply the window bag. The grade will not be preserved. Comic book is graded again after the signing... a 9.8 may come back with a lesser grade. Spring for the pressing in case the artist gets a little too enthusiastic handling your book...it happens.
  2. Maybe I should have used a few smiley faces to set the mood. We're all excited waiting for that red text on the submissions page to see if our guesses are right and if we're big winners. It's like Christmas in the middle of July... I know it's August, but the quote is from a fav childhood movie.
  3. Wasn't complaining, I know how long the wait can be... just stating the facts. As for my April submission... first in - first served.... or is it "early bird gets the fresh Sharpie"
  4. Today..... My four FM SS comic books are back from the presses and show status as received.... only a matter of time. Should be just under five months from original receive date at CGC.
  5. Having better pictures this time around may be guiding the way this is going....
  6. What was the average grade given here before the clean and press?
  7. Why is it so expensive.... because when I was buying the series back in the day I stopped at #8 ...
  8. Sloppy teeth marks? Are the interior pages affected at all?
  9. I did get it back... but had to return for a fix.... didn't do a press on this one, which is one reason why I got it back already... plus I sent it in early.
  10. I considered sending a DD 168 CGC 9.8 for the Miller signing but sent a raw instead (which ended up graded at 9.6). The drop in value from 9.8 to 9.6 was too significant to take a chance with SS handling.
  11. I recently joined a CGC facebook group... just out of curiosity. Very scary to read some of the comments and question. Lots of noobies who do zero research and ask the... (well, they say there are no dumb questions) ...ask questions that make me wonder if some are even capable of reading these comic books. I am seeing just too many fresh-faced speculators looking to make a quick CGC encased buck. Sad.
  12. Yes... totally agree. I have four other FM SS that are in the presses. This one was really sharp and I fooled myself thinking I didn't need the press but regretted that decision after I sent it in. Not sure if I'll do any more SS series. I have a slabbed 9.8 that I thought about sending in for one of the SS but noticed the value drop even to 9.6 was significant so not worth the risk.
  13. Thanks.. Yes, I sent an email to Brittany with pics...waiting to hear back. Bend doesn't appear to have color break and doesn't look like it's creased, but can't really get a good look because of the slab. Fingers crossed that you're right about the press... I kicked myself for not including a press, but it was in great shape to start... the tiny CB crease in the lower right corner may have happened during signing, but even a press wouldn't have helped that.
  14. No spine roll (staples in spine edge)... no pressing... bad wrap job, even for a copper book... had it since new and it survived a good 39 years... until now.
  15. As I suggested above.... any relation between damage and CGC rush with the quick turnaround promise on in-house signings?
  16. Acceptance may have had something to do with it's submission into the SS club?
  17. Is that a defect that CGC would normally reject for grading?
  18. Thanks.... The Gemini demos always show the comic books just slipped loose into the pockets. I mount the comics face down to cardboard and then tape the cardboard to the Gemini... no movement or rubbing. Has worked well. I also have the same style of shipper that you're showing for larger items. I guess the BCW shippers will be OK along with the comics mounted on thicker cardboard. They just don't seem as stiff as the Gemini.
  19. It was a nice copy.... hope they can fix it. The small crease on the bottom corner with the light stress lines might have happened during the signing. It was a strong 9.6..... no more signings for me.
  20. Reaching out on Monday. Picking up another slab tomorrow from the post office that was sent in with a problem. Want to make sure that one is fixed before I call. I just finished looking through my pics and don't see it in the raw. I need to get better at doing that.
