  1. Of the 15 good copies that I have, maybe only two could make the 9.8 grade... Rest have slight chipping/color lose along the spine.
  2. OK... First batch ever back from CGC. Pleased, but feel that I may have erred ... CGC rookie mistake. Good advice to newbies... hang around, ask questions and get some good advice from seasoned board members before shipping off to CGC for the first time.... I feel I pulled the trigger too soon. I realized, even before I got the grader notes, that I probably should have had a press and clean before grading... So, is it worth having any or all of these books pressed/cleaned and resubmitted? (already in at $70 each) I was thinking of having the pressing done before resubmitting, which means having the cases cracked open and sending raw back to CGC..... thoughts?
  3. Thanks for the warning on this character..... just blocked him on ebay
  4. Ya... lot's of negatives regarding CA.... but nothing bad to say about my white Cap UPCs
  5. I just ran across the 20 copies that I bought fresh, back in the day..... all have negative CA and only 5 have the score line... just on the front.
  6. Interesting to hear that BIN is a better way to go with "common" books. Makes sense that auctions can be tricky if the right buyer(s) don't happen to see the posting and someone grabs it at a bargain price. I have a few key books that I want to list but finding the best arena is a little tricky.... sometimes ebay will have promotions such as 25% off final value fee....
  7. What about the other end of the spectrum? Best / favorite places to list high end keys?
  8. Thanks. I’m only just learning about this whole slabbing/pressing thing and appreciate all the input and opinions.
  9. That’s the photo. I try to get straight above the comic, but with a tripod it’s not exact.
  10. Thanks for the assessment gentlemen..... The mark in the upper right corner is a tiny bit of ink splatter from the printing... not a pen mark. So you think there is enough that can be done with a pressing to raise the grade a bit? I've had no experience with pressing so not really sure when it's worth it... although sometimes it's obvious of course.
  11. Hey, it's the weekend... so here is another key issue that's heading to Florida..... Little bump on back top corner of spine... otherwise? Cheers.
  12. Hi all... Planning on sending this in for a grade and a slab..... opinions on grade, as well as whether or not to press, would be appreciated... From what I can see, just one crease on back.... Thanks
  13. Thanks.... I thought this would be an interesting one to grade.... the scuffs are definitely from mishandling.... like the top newspaper in a bundle thrown off a truck at 4 in the morning. There is also a dent on the right edge above Wolverine's collar.
  14. This comic looks like it was on the top of the bundle.... Received direct from distributor back in the day.... Opinions on grading this one please and what would you call the abrasions on the cover... back cover is not damaged at all... Thanks.
  15. What about alternatives to ebay? Would probably have to be for higher end comics. Who has used and can recommend other auction houses?
  16. Thanks... many terms and abbreviations mentioned throughout this site. Although it ain't rocket science, takes a while to figure some of it out.
  17. Quick question... best words to describe this flaking(?) on the edge of cover?
  18. Interesting.... just tried blocking this character and got invalid id message from ebay...
  19. Could't believe my eyes when I saw this thread.... My friends and I traveled down from New York to Passaic Book Center in New Jersey a few times in the mid 70's when we were young teens. It was our meca for comics.... I remember picking up Will Eisner's The Spirit #1 (Harvey 1966) during one of our outings. Good memories....
  20. Thanks BB.... I can always count on you for a quick reply. Do you think collector's would usually shy away from a mild miswrap... unless of course it's a sought after edition?
  21. I did a search, but was not successful, so here I am..... What, if anything, will a factory error misaligned cover wrap do to a comic's grade? ... Assuming no other issues with spine. Randomly picked this Spidy Annual as an example. Would a misaligned wrap that is straight with staples in the edge of spine be much different in grade from this example?....Thanks
  22. Glad I found this thread.... Listed my slightly stained, but otherwise decent copy of ASM 129 on ebay last week and winning bid came in at the last 10 seconds.... waited, sent invoice, waited, send message, nothing.... n.austin281 (177) .... is on my do not disturb list now.
  23. Great question.... and good timing since, here in tax hungry California, the state is starting discussions on internet sales tax....
  24. Yes... and duh.... Thanks for pointing that out .... wasn't wearing my reading glasses and saw "Adapted from.... ©1979"... Hadn't had time to really look it over before I posted pics....
