  1. I can see that being the case. If something was sticking to it and pulled away straight up it may have caused the jagged edge. If insect related, you'd think they might like the tender interior pages better.
  2. Nice pictures.... If it was a tack, I can't think why it would be on the back. Maybe whatever it was stuck to the paper and pulled it off. Still, you'd think the tear would be straight, not jagged.
  3. Just ordered from Paper Mart.... 261811 8-1/2 X 11 200# Brown Double Face Corrugated Sheet 100 / Bundle Great price... thanks for the info...
  4. Another fine specimen...... wolfman-collectibles Multiple low ball bids on a number of auctions... ended up winning only two... ended up not contacting or paying.... WHERE wolf? On my naughty list.
  5. I recently sold a NM copy.... start price $7.99 ... 3 bids ... sold $20.99 ...
  6. I know that you can adjust your settings so that they can not contact you, but doubt that it blocks them viewing auctions that they won't be able to bid on. I'd prefer for them to try and bid and realize that they're blocked. Sort of a karma moment.

    Key Issues

Got to do a little homework.... Do a search for items sold at the various on-line auction houses. You may come across similar books and be able to get a general idea. Collectors go nuts over these signed books so I don't see how you wouldn't get a good price simply by putting them to auction.... like Bob said. Good luck.
  8. I should mention this dude.... abrfa_27 Bought a book.... was so happy with the transaction that he bid on 11 more..... then forgot to pay or remember how to reply to messages. .... Wish there was an emoji of a donkey.
  9. Yup... not too long ago sold a couple for around $20. Auction ended tonight with winning bid of $61.... all around the same NM condition
  10. As a matter of fact I do.... but that aside, you may be right, but looking at quality of photography not so sure that seller would be capable of such sorcery. I've been leaning towards bad photography and the downward angle as the source of this trickery... next step... see if the seller floats or sinks.... I would like to see BLUEMEDGOUP take a pic that matches the angle of the original pic to see what the tears look like. I take a lot of photos of comics and some defect don't show at certain angles and lighting.
  11. Yes, easy to do on the after pic which is sharp and has a somewhat even surface. Not so sure in would be as easy on the before pic. The pixel pattern in the original (on ebay) would make it a difficult patch to hide.
  12. The guy should be teaching his son a lesson and make him pay some how... like take his car privileges away for a week.
  13. Original ebay pic was taken at an angle looking down, going through the plastic at an angle that could distort image even more. The poor lighting doesn't help either.
  14. Until Disney buys Sony.... it's just a matter of time.
  15. If I was making such a large investment I would have asked for better pictures. You kind of know what you're into at a 3.0 but those ebay pics are so bad that one really can't see detail, especially the back cover. I'm guessing the the seller doesn't have any better pics that would show that area any better. When I look at the tear area in the ebay pic it is slightly darker which tells me that the tear might be there, but pixelated and fuzzy due to poor quality. As far as the grader notes go, there is so much going on that the grader may be limited with the number of defects they can list. I'm sure there are others that know if that is the case with notes. I know you're disappointed discovering the large staple tears, which is a real bummer, but it's still a solid and classic book. Good luck.
  16. Could mean.... Zero respect for others... or maybe it's the number of auctions they'll win from me...
  17. This is the same low life that I mentioned recently...... scothendro_0 He paid for the first batch on the last day of the non-payment time frame and had bid on six other books in the meantime.... Only replied once (from at least a half dozen messages sent) asking to pay at end of week...that was two weeks ago. Second case open, and done dealing with this fool.
  18. Sorry for the bad luck....Receiving a crushed box is not fun. It in fact happened to me today with a box from CGC via pickup from UPS store. Turned excitement into a bit of panic, but luckily my 9.6 ASM 129 survived the trauma, as did I.
  19. My account has been compromised as well.... seems I can not longer accept bids from user names starting with x and it's spreading like a virus.
  20. I have a cat who's a bit of a jerk so I believe there may be some truth to the cat excuse....
  21. Thanks... Heard that one before. I actually had a buyer ask if he could pay by the end of the following week. I appreciated the message and he did pay and sent a message after, apologizing, saying that his account was hacked and restricted and couldn't pay until restriction was lifted.... so I guess it could happen, but not an excuse to ask for order cancellation.
  22. That is true, but turns out he does speak English and miraculously he sent a message after having various bids and wins over a two week period. Needed to hold off paying until the end of this week, which I am OK with. Maybe he learned a lesson when the last batch that he won went into non-payment cycle.... he paid for those on the last day before penalty phase. I don't mind working with buyers, but not responding to half a dozen messages is a bit weird.
  23. Lots going on here, but still pretty solid. Opinions greatly appreciated. Thanks BTW.... That's a tiny tear above the "S", top cover
