  1. I would like to return these books for reholder.  These were graded and sent back to me with cracks in the cases.  I returned them once already for reholder but the same results happened for these 16 books.

  2. I recently received back mechanical error books with new cases. 3966145

I called to get approval but was told to send an email.  The general email doesn’t allow pictures.

16 of the 25 books have cracks along the seams.  Some on the right side in the middle and some on the left side bottom near the corners.7DB2D750-0BEF-45FE-80B9-5F1FCC3EAF13.thumb.jpeg.83266844f167b90ba458fcc5ca8b9a4c.jpegDA6339FC-6FDD-43FF-8118-2DAAFD9F2E66.thumb.jpeg.36bbcbdbf00a2bfeda89092ddd622d15.jpegBF0CD56E-D560-47A9-B844-F294714C9F8F.thumb.jpeg.6fdfd3aa2d178e6716ede22c023fbf2d.jpeg0B67511D-04C4-4801-BA13-590B61C543FD.thumb.jpeg.b0811abed11c4b0ae1ec78a486c82f6f.jpeg833C6F9E-96EE-4BD7-8FA5-ADEEDF978EEC.thumb.jpeg.9e43a462f1ee09d1b891c7d982c9812f.jpeg947DA315-F915-4B11-9956-358E23965E92.thumb.jpeg.ea75f557ca94e4f5d1f3a3bb3cd51b5c.jpeg8ECCCC04-6618-410F-AD00-15D2DA95F8F5.thumb.jpeg.04bd3205ca9e913339146fce14d0895e.jpeg3605ED42-4077-4ADC-8D2D-97BB8AA36E73.thumb.jpeg.1c1c10e13db63e1392da43a9f235bd4b.jpeg31A59D04-4D23-479C-B44A-22BA5985A0BA.thumb.jpeg.6f5c40031141fce866a3c1514614c51e.jpegB1F1ABD4-0D8F-4ACA-8096-FA35111360BB.thumb.jpeg.4c23c69f7ff0c14a56f78a45131b9aef.jpegC0F08DDB-FF7E-4CFF-A6E0-19F1850D2DDE.thumb.jpeg.6e500722da77e898f0b07405bf177eeb.jpeg0E6FEE6E-E7DA-42A3-BC15-1742CB4BCA0F.thumb.jpeg.19c04ed92820e4edc34555f702781ee3.jpeg85E7CA76-DF53-4D7E-8FD1-B0F6481CB170.thumb.jpeg.5d8e9c4cb0b6571b779b2822c0779413.jpeg2CEF5021-8DB8-486D-BE2D-69B9F085A0B4.thumb.jpeg.4a766be23cfe5378f8eb75f89b85d30f.jpeg5E93574E-EF76-4496-B5AD-4D42079B8516.thumb.jpeg.ee8cfbfae95f888f6c2903018f1d563c.jpeg359D5447-4AD5-4E7A-8266-24E75BE5D1CA.thumb.jpeg.85a5dd5349e9b3eea33cf9e48744a152.jpeg160882C9-3ACE-4C62-8EC5-2DF694536F8D.thumb.jpeg.9cc70c8224dd723452239b463d66ad20.jpeg8F1816FB-8CC5-4F34-A8A3-FF9D78113B49.thumb.jpeg.be5804d051c7ae88717658f288b7678f.jpeg9430D2F1-998B-4E45-A1AA-4A1A4190A749.thumb.jpeg.2bb9d20553e251bcc763e8727c5de9a8.jpeg26D81AA0-D751-413E-AB7D-5558F211606F.thumb.jpeg.e149ec78d2ddbd9e2418873605b5dcd6.jpeg59C9ABC1-2D40-420F-B5BC-19430A9AA21D.thumb.jpeg.3d2af76df99dd9335826795abb16378a.jpegD3E442E6-4BF6-4BE7-9F07-BAF3A4489CFE.thumb.jpeg.2531f12dacec6603c2d606d2e226d8fb.jpegA31F5E28-3FDB-4CB3-98B0-3AD83D6FC25A.thumb.jpeg.9836fffc9363c30408ced5dcb5132e78.jpeg677898CE-3B32-4F75-844E-D1AD020E2F43.thumb.jpeg.15948b857e020837cd3bddc590605002.jpeg68926945-85D3-4EEF-958D-FB44E7D2B69E.thumb.jpeg.32fdd8c70e5650fe40c8bc045f6a745e.jpeg677898CE-3B32-4F75-844E-D1AD020E2F43.thumb.jpeg.15948b857e020837cd3bddc590605002.jpegC3778058-48DD-435C-BFC7-C4D0771FB0CC.thumb.jpeg.93d349939db442b0eaa62f17a33fcc4f.jpeg49E37568-E7A5-42F8-A9CF-E8C699FBC266.thumb.jpeg.378705d0041410b0f3e842606757dda1.jpeg9A2073C5-9980-4254-B101-9A0AF57D5C28.thumb.jpeg.826f7c6146e61b591dab3e69d6dbdca0.jpegFE8E5F64-256D-4D4E-ACEA-5CD31A3F4BDB.thumb.jpeg.d6e95d22f13e6a15606e69a3fcc8322a.jpeg0AEB6189-BA9E-4FB5-8EEE-52907D7671F8.thumb.jpeg.e02b3dfc23dd1afdc717c4014032353a.jpegB7845314-58D8-45ED-896A-5D4E2E756637.thumb.jpeg.cef96cf630f81a984b40dbb98c270c7c.jpeg1C1A9C81-59A1-4D3A-A8AB-908311D35162.thumb.jpeg.a41b41e289b8315a6cd1c1cbe1af678e.jpeg45BCA81A-CC4D-4A3C-9B6D-5AE3946A155C.thumb.jpeg.3ddf6691c7b25671c8a88f691997ffef.jpeg014FFF14-BA23-4F78-B3BD-AA3B9A335C18.thumb.jpeg.752950b487224c2270c51e3de72bf2ce.jpegDF349816-90F2-4468-933A-EB7244A5E90F.thumb.jpeg.765714f3c775629a9364961a675c15ef.jpeg1FC42E4B-F572-4361-9FB7-702DFE288D52.thumb.jpeg.658059bdcabec69c775adf316f8ac32e.jpeg9EA06674-8D1A-4794-A8C9-F02D9AF33CBF.thumb.jpeg.a8088b2620c0730379aaeaf004f5dbeb.jpeg1C9AB734-42D1-477F-A2BA-F54F303061DD.thumb.jpeg.352dda188001f2f1cc5005e201729b38.jpeg73FF75A6-4C3F-45AF-8222-F5036FA1C76E.thumb.jpeg.32a32ca62e60d7a11c24f106a53e1027.jpegE752A321-2646-4A26-861E-BAD10A9559F3.thumb.jpeg.27977598581d17ffc920090c7cb96007.jpeg

So two listings for ASM #365 just showed up on Mycomicshop.com. Both are CGC 9.8 but one is direct and one is newsstand. As you can see the newsstand is 3 times as much as the direct. Is this the current market or is this seller just crazy (it's a consignment so mycomicshop.com didn't set the price)? I've been collecting newsstands since the Hickman Era on Fantastic Four because it was easiest for me to get them at Barnes and Noble and I kinda got addicted to them. This was just the latest side by side example of how crazy this market has gotten (or an example of a seller who will never sell that item, we'll see)😄

It’s a crazy market for certain newsstand issues in 9.8

2 sales in August $1652 and $1740.  Plenty of sales over$1000 for ASM 365.

Sorry to hear this. Here is a thread where someone tried to send an empty case that was eventually won. May want to read and see if a similar situation could help you prevail.

This was a PayPal sale that I was fortunate to win. Shoomanfoo is the only scammer I have come across while selling. It's unfortunate that these individuals try to scam others in the hobby.  I have had plenty of successful purchases and sales here on the boards and on eBay.  I won't let one bad apple ruin it for me.  I'm sorry to see that @1Coolgot scammed.  Nobody deserves to be scammed by anyone.  Treat others as you wish to be treated.  It's really not that hard.

Same for me on my laptop, but not on my PC...?  So weird.

I'm now experiencing a new problem on my iphone.  When I click on a thread to see the latest post, in takes me to the very first page of the thread every time.

To clarify…CGC QC supposedly checks the slabs before they are shipped back. That’s what I meant.
I’m sure they will re-slab the books as a ME but that requires a lot more work than if they were rejected going out the door.

A lot more work and money spent providing shipping labels for Next Day Air via UPS.

  7. Just wanted to bring it to CGC’s attention. I had a problem with 3 invoices recently. 50 of 53 books with damage.  Maybe too much pressure during encapsulation.
Another board member has experienced the same recently.  Please view the last two pages of the Comics General thread. Where in the world was the Quality Control at CGC???

Well, my go to presser seems to think that CGC may not reholder slabs for ‘fractures’ versus outright damage.  He’s got my pictures though, so he said he’d contact them and find out.  They would have to be returned under his account anyway.

The overgraded Spider-Man slab will stay in my PC, but I don’t know if anything can be done about the finger bend that showed up AFTER they received the other comic I posted.  If they won’t fix it, I won’t sell it.

If I have to keep all slabs as is, so be it.  I’m done with having comics graded…I’ll keep collecting raw books instead.  I’ve only been around graded books for about 4 years, but it has gotten off-kilter quick.  I’ve lost interest.  I’m not a speculator, nor do I have the inclination to be so.  I tested the waters, but I didn’t drown. 🤣

I’ve contacted CGC and they are accepting my books back for reholder.

Okay, gang.  My 20 Modern slabs arrived today...just shy of seven months since CGC received them.  For the good news...no damage to the shipping box, no broken pieces in the slabs, all labels appear to be correct (nothing missing), and overall the books/slabs look clean.  Most of them have a few small spots of Newton Rings (not a biggie to me) and some of the slabs have cosmetic and small scratches and/or scuffs, which could be on the inside.  They are very small...I'm not worried about them.

Now the bad news.  Right now, I'm trying to clarify a potential problem with each slab.  I'm working with my pressing guy as we speak...see what he thinks.  First, nineteen comics came back 9.8, one a 9.6 (I agree with it).  Very pleased, except one of the 9.8's was a gift (1st two pics).  I sent it in knowing it had an ink-breaking spine tick (not pressed).  Never had this happen before.  There are a couple small ticks that don't break color.  I don't recall those being there, but it wasn't pressed.

Another 9.8 arrived with a finger bend on the front, near the bottom (pressed)(pics 3 to 5).  I'm pretty sure this happened at CGC.  This will have to be remedied.

The big potential problem I see on each slab is what appears to be a crack/fracture either on one side of the slab or the other...or both (pics 6 to 8).  Some are very light, some not so much.  They aren't in the same spot on every comic, but they are limited to the bottom half of the slab.  These aren't sonic welds, I believe, and they don't look right.  Whatever they are, I've never seen this before.  I even looked at slabs I received last year and didn't really notice anything.  Of course, the last batch of slabs I got back from CGC was over a year ago.  Who knows.  Now, I just have to figure out what to do with all these slabs with the odd looking 'crack'.  I have no more comics at CGC...this is my last batch.  I won't have another stressful shipment.

The slabs are indeed cracked. Anything that looks cloudy and not clear is damage to the plastic case.  Cracked or chipped.  Look at some of your older slabs from the last 6 months.  All the edges will probably be clear.
I suspect this is happening during encapsulation with too much pressure.

That is a cracked case.  The crack is curving up like a smile.  The case should have clear plastic along the edge.  If your looking at the front cover and see a spot that is not clear, then the case is cracked or chipped along the edge where the top half of the case meets the bottom have..

Is this being caused from too much pressure during encapsulation process?
